Does anyone know how i can set my american clock to this time
What is the GMT difference where you are, or what state of USA are you in?
For what its worth, they are claiming the server should be up at 11am in New York or 8am Washington. Work it out from there I guess mate.
Tamiya, it took you an hour to copy the folder? took me about 2minutes... and those hard drives aren't too expensive (a pair of 250gb SATA).

I'm in Sydney, Australia so GMT+10 but we have daylight savings so I might be an hour out with my calculations (if so, then it'd be an hour less of what I said before).
That saying.... Couldn't organise a bang in a what? Exactly!

Love the fact that they announce a stress test, fubar it, and don't even bother to post back to this thread with updated information / instructions.

Yes, but they have that nifty little box on the login screen for news updates, it's still telling people to join the stress test, how much time would it take to update it?
I don't understand why -- when they are having server problems -- they don't make better use of that little news box.

I wanted to help with the stress test, but had to patch So I made a copy of my eve folder and said ok to the patch, but the client couldn't find it Then I searched manually for the patch in question in ftp, http and their folders Then I visited the forums and some user had some suggestion
at that point I gave up, 'cause I had already stress tested my self and guess what? I had some stress. Do I pass, fail or what?
I'm sure ccp are trying their best and all, but I'm here for the fun on my limited time, no hard feelings, I guess someone else will fill in my spot ;)
PS. I sure would appreciate a dev or a mod to pass some information to us, even if it means 1 guy less working on it, honestly.

would have to agree - found this thread to get the patch (eventually) then when I got on the server went down 20 minutes later -
If you want community help to test something at least give the proper information and have the patch available |

Yeah, I've given up. After trying various suggestions it seems the test server has been off-lined. Would like to know what went wrong though. |

Apologies to all that tried to log on for the stress test on Singularity during the extended maintenance period and could not. Unfortunately, a test server setting was not changed over that allows the server to run in a mode that mirrors Tranquility. This prevented a large number of players from logging in to participate. The autopatch message was disabled as soon as this was noticed.
Some users did apply a test patch to their game client, thus necessitating the need to install a new client in order to resume play on Tranquility. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience caused by today's events.

Your joking right, first of all you say that you never get enough people on the test server to fully see the affect of some of your patches, but the one time you do turn of TQ to get lots of people on SISI you mess it up and cannot perform the test proper.
I find this really poor for a company like yourselves. There is just no excuse for this.
I urge you to do this again and thbis time to get it right!

The autopatch message may have been removed as soon as someone in CCP noticed it (clearly if we were load testing a test server, you would have someone monitoring the users & thinking WTF? to themselves), however I'm pretty sure it was there for the majority of the downtime period anyway... as anyone who bothered to read this topic had probably experienced.
Pretty poor form & the explanations don't really add up to what we see... sure, we pay for a gaming service - however I thought we'd deserve some decent explanations rather than 'something wasn't ticked or checked' considering that your wages apparently depend on us as users.

Normally Game hosting subscription services give rebates it there is a regular length of server downtime. Recently i think this needs to be considered, for example 1 day given back free to all subscribers it really would not hurt CCP that much to help retain its membership and please everyone

Another patch without the evemail bug or carrier bug fixed.
Some of us get tens of evemails per day -- some get a lot more. This is rapidly become untenable and such a critical bug has remained way too long.
Carrier bug was introduced the patch after Kali, I believe -- since then corp hangars have not been calculating size at all.
How does this stuff ever slip through QA?

I will clear up alittle here. TQ was not taken down to do the stress test for SISI, that would never be allowed by management. Before the release of Revelations we focused a lot of stability of the cluster and since the release we have focused more on it to better improve the stability of the cluster. In the last few weeks we have had probably 2-3 node deaths max, jita is the main problem tbh, but we are looking into that and we are doing something magical for the Revelations 1.3 patch. I will address the lag stuff in a min.
But of late we have been experiencing proxy server deaths, which is something very new with Revelations. It only happens when the proxy servers are under a lot of load, so i spoke to Valar and asked him when he needed to do some database maintenance so i could do the stress test at the same time. All we needed really was people to log in and test anything, just basically load the proxy servers tbh. But today i had to go out of the office and in a rush i forgot to ask the people that update SISI to change the needed settings so you could connect with your TQ client. Which resulted in a lot of people patching up to a version of the client that is not compatable with Tranquility. For this i can only apologize.
I was however logging what was happening on SISI and tbh we didn't get a lot from it due to my mistake. I take full blame for the mixup.
Ok, the lag issue. Over the last few weeks i have been spending a lot of time monitoring agent missions, where they are happening and what amounts are being done per day. For the Revelations 1.3 patch we are planning some changes to system jump routes to hopefully balance the map alittle better, this will mean removing some system jumps, relocating some system jumps and include the relocation of some agents. Tomorrow i'm in a meeting with TomB, Hammerhead, Fear and T20 about this stuff and once we have decided what we are going to do, it will be changed updated to SISI hopefully by this weekend at the latest. But i will ofcourse post the details in a forum somewhere.
So again i apologize for the mix up today and i also promise to keep you updated on the changes we are hoping to make in Revelations 1.3.

Happens to the best of us
Thanks for being upfront and honest about the mix up.
I support any efforts to improve Eve and personally I don't mind so much with hicups like this as long as we're kept informed along the way

Its just frustrating to see all these players who want to get on there to actually help you guys make a better product, and then you cant even bother to drop us a note when you see there are problems.
I know some players treat you guys like crap, and I understand if you are sick of some of us. But I still think you could post some info on what is going on. The only reason people help out is because they think its being appreciated by you. Its not fun to do a stress test where you lag and get kicked out or freeze up. We do it because it may help you improve the game.
I was personally looking forward to this test, but it turned out to be 2-3 hours of troubleshooting and helping players patch their clients because none of you guys bothered to tell us what was going on.
I only whine because I care you know. I know you could do things in a better way, so im going to whine until you do or I get banned, whatever comes first.
Btw, I read the article on Revelations II on mmorpg and its looking super sweet btw. Just wanted to put something positive in this otherwise pretty whiny but honest post.

They are sick of some of us? If as consumers we had the option to acquire this product elsewhere, we would have collectively FIRED these morons a long time ago. I had the day off from work today, I was going to join in the stress test but the instant I saw incompatibility I knew someone had taken too many bong hits, I went outside and stacked firewood instead.

*sits squarely in the middle of the two extremes*
I am no fan of CCP, I am just a customer that wants to have fun playing a game. I don't think CCP are morons. I don't think they are living their lives for the sole purpose of giving us a better game either. They are a business and their aim is to make money. Having a good game and not losing customers is a 'byproduct' of that.
I am sure there are people at CCP working very hard to make things work. But I am also sure there are people pushing for 'bigger and better' (as in bigger customer base, better profits ). I just wish CCP realises they have bitten off more than they can chew and slow down a bit. ________________

You mean... we are finally getting the Jita bypass I dream of?
<3
Makes sense I suppose, other than coming from deep south, the majority of routes in Caldari space take you through the Jita/New Caldari/Sobaseki triangle.
Is there any way to have the autopilot assign a 'cost' to busy systems? If the AP could avoid systems that were at, or near to, capacity then surely that would help?
What I do the rest of the time - Vote for a Jita bypass! |
