Just for sh*ts and giggles I've been running the various Guristas combat sites that pop up on your scanner in-between mission runs. 3 of them escalated into DED sites (2 in low-sec and 1 in high-sec) in the past 12 hours. Is this considered typical or did I get an unusually high number of escalations? Also, are escalations to DED sites in high-sec common or relatively rare? Thanks.
I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

They are random. I would think your results is due to the fact that a lot of people are going after the Frostline sites, which means more chances for you to get escalations. |

So you had 3 sites (Anomalies?) escalate to DED sites.
To answer your question, need to know just exactly how many sites you ran in that 12 hrs to get the 3 escalations.
And as for it being typical or just luck, that depends on which type of sites you were running.
Anyway, gratz on getting the escalations.

Maybe 20 last night and 5-10 this morning. I probably spent less than an hour in total between the two sessions. The two last night I actually got back-to-back. These are the standard Guristas variety ones you can simply warp to, the ones you'd typically find in 0.5-0.8 systems.

Yeah, there's 4 different classes of high sec anomalies - Hideaway, Burrow, Refuge and Den. Also they can have 4 different levels.
For example : Hideaway, Hidden Hideaway, Forsaken Hideaway and Forlorn Hideaway.
Anyway, without that info can't really say if it's typical or just lucky. Also just wanted to point out that whether other players run anomalies or not, that has no influence on you getting more or less escalations happening.

Which ones offer the highest chance of escalation?

I'd say lucky ... but random is random.
I ran 20 anomalies yesterday testing a T3 destroyer and got zero escalations. The only reason I run them is to clear out a dead end system because tidiness.

Unknown. CCP has never released the metric for calculating it, and most likely never will. So random is random. |

My C2 had a wandering highsec exit the other day three jumps from Jita and decided to run some Gurista anoms (Refuges)
Had insane luck I had 4 4/10 in my journal after maybe a dozen or so Refuge sites? I had only overseers effects from the three I ran though lol so my luck run short there.

DMC I tend to leave hidden, forsaken sites etc, do all have a chance of escalating DMC? All Anomalies are suppose to have a random chance of escalating. If it just spawns a Commander NPC, that would still be considered an escalation.
For example, I've run countless amount of Angel Hideaway and Angel Burrow sites which have never escalated to a DED Complex but they in fact still escalated because they spawned Commander NPC's.
Anyway, I also usually bypass the hidden, forsaken and forlorn versions as well since they take longer to complete.

I think the security of the systems makes a difference. If you are scanning 0.5 systems, I think you get more escalations than 1.0 systems.

Oddly, the several frostline sites I've ran across so far were all ignored by locals, even one I passed up over a hour before deciding to see why it hadn't despawned. I would think it's just because the BC killed despawns the beacon immediately, but no one where I'm at seems really interested in running them. I have like 6 things of Quafe Zero already and more clothes than JC Penny at this point. I'll be able to open up my on military surplus store before long, complete with complimentary fireworks and beverages.
"Tomahawks?"
"----in' A, right?"
"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."
"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."
