I am finding mixed information about the Jump Portal Generation skill and Black Ops.

In the first, it sounds like it is useful to level up some for Blops. In the second, it is stated not to go past 1. Just want some clarification before I spend some quality training time getting it to 4. |

As far as blops are concerned, Covert Jump Portal Generators require the skill to lvl 1 and fuel consumption is not affected by further training. So yes, if it's just for a covert for your blops, just take it to lvl 1. |

EDIT: nevermind, I misread; you're asking about the JPG skill, not the blops skill. |

Since this question has already been answered I'd like to give you some tips on how to figure stuff like this out in the future.
If you look at the info UI for anything in game it's usually pretty self-explanatory but you just have to be familiar with how to use it. So in the case of Jump Portal generation it clearly states that it's needed for creating jump portals and that it saves you 10% fuel use per level. If you then click on the "required for" tab it will show you that you only need it trained to level 1 to gain access to the normal and covert jump portal generator modules as well as all 4 Titan books. With other modules that have higher levels of the skill unlocking stuff you will see those other modules or books or ships or what ever gets unlocked in the sub-tab which breaks it out by skill level. So literally if a module is unlocked by level 4 or a skill then you would press on the "IV" button to see that module listed there.
I am not certain of the context of those two posts that you listed there but jump portal generation is a pretty high level skill. There are only two ships in game that can use them one is Titans and the other is a tech 2 Battleship. Both of those are ships that take a very long time to train to fly effectively and definitely something that a 6 week old character would be wasting his time concerning him self with much less worrying about training tertiary skills up to level 5. It will be a long time before you need to worry about JPG and in the mean time you'll learn enough about the game to know what you'll need. |

The character I am currently training it for has >70M sp. I asked here because I did exactly what you said, of course, but the description had me confused as I have only ever taken a bridge, not ever created one.
Titan:
"Jump Portal Generators use the same isotopes as your ships jump drive to jump other ships through the portal. You will need sufficient fuel in your holds in order to allow ships in your fleet to use the jump portal when it is activated. You will still require Strontium Clathrates to activate this module and enable bridging operations."
Covert:
"Jump Portal Generators use the same isotopes as your ships jump drive to jump other ships through the portal. You will need sufficient fuel in your holds in order to allow ships in your fleet to use the jump portal when it is activated."
Based on those descriptions I was thinking JPG 1 should be enough, but I wanted to confirm.
The JPG description:
"Skill for the generation of jump portals to distant solar systems. 10% reduced material cost for jump portal activation per level."
If it takes fuel to send Blops through, I thought maybe the 10% per level would effect it. |

Just keep in mind that any question asked on this sub-forum will be answered with the understanding that the question is coming from a new citizen.
If you are asking for a 70m sp char, probably modules or even general would be a better sub-forum.
Granted, on those other subforums, the answers might be a repeat of what ergh said, but less polite.
I just want to get a plex as fast as i can so i dont have to worry about resubbing, 15 dollars is Cat litter and Food for my cat, or 2 Grams of Weed, i'd rather spend it on that then on this game--Rogue Mime

to be fair I have the skills to do this stuff and had no idea that is how it worked
I always thought the -10%/level applied to the isotopes and had no clue titans needed stront to bridge. What I get for more or less ignoring the fact that caps are a thing in this game.
