Ok I just tried Worlds collide and I got my rear handed to me. (By the way I have been in for 20 days, am a minmatar and have less than 2 mil SP, ya I am a noob) I would like to ask my more experienced Eve brothers and sisters what would be a good set up my new riffter for the worlds collide mission. I prefer to fight from a distance so that I don't take a lot of damage just getting to the target. My old failed set up was 3 artillery cannons 1Æs loaded with titanium s (in 2) and proton ammo (in 1) with a slandered launcher with bloodclaws in it. I know I need to add some better shielding or amour. But as I said I want some more experienced advice. I like the idea becoming a belt ratter or armed escort for hire latter in my eve life.

oh well thought its about the lvl4 version but as im here already and i can talk some crap without having a clue :)
first check what race you are fighting: eveinfo.com - good place to check the resistances you¦ll need.
choose your ammo according to that race and maybe the preferred range.
now for the actual setup: as minmatar you¦re master of nothing, tho everything¦s open to you - armor or shield tank (or speed ofc). if you go for tank then again your opponents dmg-types would tell you if armor or shield - minnie got nice shield resistances often... a gyrostab could help for dmg. if you wanna sniper go for sensor booster plus tracking comp.
going for speed would be nice against bigger targets but against small also fast tarhget could bring you into trouble.
so you basically know as much now as b4 :P

You can solve Worlds Collide lvl 1 without killing ALL THE GUYS... just speed to the first gate with AB ... then kill the 3 guys that agress you ... speed to next gate ... ignore the guys that are too far away ... in last stage kill em all. done.

There are many threads on this mission. It eats new pilots for breakfast.
But, there are tricks...
Fit an afterburner and some sort of tank. Ignore the rats in the first room, fly to the left gate as fast as possible and activate it. Ignore the rats in the second room, fly to the gate as fast as possible and activate it, use your tank as needed. In the last room, do nothing until a few rats engage you, kill them, loot the ship, warp out.
As you skill up, you can start killing extra rats for fun, or doing it in smaller and smaller ships.

That's how I got through it way back in my rifter. Make sure you use an afterburner (AB), microwarp drives don't work in deadspace (most combat missions). If you are suddenly moving slowly and at the bottom of your screen you see a status bar slowly counting down with an npc rat's name next to it, kill him first because he's webbing you.
The real beauty of this mission is when you can fly a cruiser and you do this mission again. KILL THEM ALL! Mwuahaha.

That was the first mission (and only, so far) in which I lost a ship; it really is a nasty one - especially the way that some of the enemy ships are fitted with artillery. My solution was to come back in a Destroyer and toast them all Alternatively, take the advice already given, take a different mission, or get some people to take the mission with you.

Edited by: Bat Baian on 22/03/2007 23:01:54 This is the N-th time since I lost a frig to this mission We're talking millions and millions of equipment worth lost. Dunn'o how you guys rush by the NPC in the base pocket but my Kestrel with AB and Booster I got toasted half the way to the gate. When I took a condor trying to save what was left from my very expensive outfit I got toasted the sec I stopped by the wreck. A COUPLE OF TIMES @#$%@# There were 7(!!!) demolishers, 2 anarchists, destructor, wrecker and plunderer that jump right on my head the second I enter the pocket and wipe out the floor with ANY Lvl 1 frig I tried. Cannot outrun them, cannot out power them because my shield runs out like on the 3 second before I had a chance to lock onto someone let alone fight him. Ten more seconds and capacitor and booster are also spent and I am "scrambled eggs"
Should I get a destroyer (for which I don't have a skill BTW) just for one sh...y mission??! This is CRAP I loose money, time and eventually standings with my agents.
I am so mad right now that I wanna get the guy that made this mission and strangle him with his own guts... SLOWLY!!!
I'm seriously considering dumping the game altogether because of this mission.

Bat, don't despair. Back in the days when I was in a Kestrel this was my bane mission as well. In fact, I elected this as the one I would turn down. (You can turn down one mission every 4 hours before you accept it with zero stnading penalties.)
Now that I run level 4 missions, I do enjoy them and take extra glee in wiping out both sides to extract my revenge. With low skills even an AB doesn't save you in a missile boat. Paper thin armour is just that..and the incoming missiles hurt a lot.
Safe flying and keeping running missions. If you want to try higher level missions, look at the social skills and you are into 3s before you know it. 3s in the new Battlecruisers are VERY enjoyable and make a lot more cash!

Edited by: Nalar Marnith on 22/03/2007 23:40:54 A few months back when I started mission I found this one pretty easy in my rifter. I did have a decent amount of combat exp and pretty good skills tho. It is definately suitable for L1s, but should include a warning like mordus headhunters does (new players aren't prepared for this typically).
The trick is to fit an AB (best named if affordable), and a long range setup. Longer the better.
Use the 'keep at range' feature to make sure you stay the best distance from your enemy for your guns. I recommend artillery with lead ammo (40% bonus to range). For PvE in a rifter I normally fit 2x arties and 2x missile launchers. This is pretty effective.
You'll need to fit some kind of tank, but will be pretty limited due to grid and cpu.
One of the first hardcore efforts I put into skilling was Advanced Weapon Upgrades which I took to 5. Weapon upgrades 5 is the prereq for this which needs to be at 5. This reduces grid/cpu reqs for weapons.
Other than that, train up your missile skills a bit specifically projection/bombardment which increase your missile range (and effect each other).
You probably need a sensor booster to increase targetting range and the tracking comp should make your guns stretch that bit further.

I was able to do this mission pretty quickly even in a poorly fitted Merlin.
The key is doing the Guristas side, I was able to kill everything at their warp gate (or most of it anyways) and then warped into the place.
In the 2nd to last room (Not sure if you count the place where you choose which side as a room) you want to just afterburner and shield boost your way past EVERYTHING and just warp through.
Then start killing things in the room.

Hi, I just started this character 4 days ago, not much skills in combat but I was still able to do this mission with ease.
Used a merlin with 2 standard missile launchers, 120mm hybrid turret and a Nosferatu. Medium just a small shield booster and for my low slot, some reinforced armor (allthough I didnt need this at all)
Simple case was, picked off the enemies that were low in hp. Then I could take out the harder enemies with simple orbit tactics and draining their energy while tanking with my shield. Never lost it once.
There were two destroyers though, but seeing as their strength was only in close quarters.. it was just a matter of keeping my distance and destroying them with missiles.
Hope this helps,

Yeah, I also nailed it finally with a Merlin. This is the only caldari lv1 frig powerful enough to withstand such a battering. And with plenty of medium slots for shield tanking. The hardeners made all the difference! I went in and killed every one single rat on both sides enjoying it enormously. Who said that revenge is a dish better served cold?!
So to summarize if you are a caldari and donÆt have destroyer - Merlin 's the ticket for you. And some skills for shield boosting.

In WC you need to alwyes go to the visiting team gate. In the agent messsage they will tell you that there is a local pirate faction (gurista for caldari agents) and that a new pirate faction have enter the area. Never go to the home team gate the 2nd stage of the home team is way harder then the 2nd room of the visiting team gate. So read the message and pick your gate based on that.

You can do this in a Kessie. You train Energy Mgmt to Lvl4 so you can fit a Micro Auxilliary Power Core or two and then you can fit 4x light missile launchers. Mid slot = AB, shield booster and some shield tank.
The Angel side is easier than the Guristas side since the Guristas Jam. For the Guristas side I used to just AB directly away from all the aggro until out of range of their rockets, then you can missile the crap out of them as you see fit once the jamming stops.
I did this with a char that was less than 10days old (long enough ago that you did not get all the extra skills as a newbie char you do now). |

Just fit FoF missiles. Sure they're not as powerful, but they'll still hit if you're jammed.

What a brutal mission. Last night I lost 2 kestrels, a merlin (armor/shield extenders) and a condor (tried to afterburn through it) all in the same room. 8+ guys all in close range, all fire right away.
I started training Destroyer 1, because thats the only hope I have at this point. Then the nightly server reboot started. Not sure if I can recover my own wrecks after the reboot, guess I will find out.
I have this sick feeling the destroyer will die right away too. Besides, I'm all missile skills and the Comorant is 7 turret slots.

I also did the lv 1 WC with ease. Based on my RTS games and airsofting knowledge. When you see 3 groups in front of you, don't dive in the middle. Don't dive to the one on the right or to the left either. (Again this advice is based on a frig, when you're on a cruiser, who cares).
Flank them. Fly parallel to their formation so that you're at 1 end of the field, go in 90 degrees at 35km range so that now your enemies are in a line with you. Approach first group, arggo them, then immediately fly back 180 degrees to "pull" them out of the pocket. Monitor their velocity on the OV, and give them a bit of leeway to catch up to you. When they're at 20km, stop ship, and just let them come get their funerals.
Don't orbit, don't do nothing, just sit and shoot, turn OFF the AB, nos if you need to. But doing missions on a frig, orbiting doesn't help me greatly when you're orbiting another frig. It helps when you're against bigger ships with big guns, but orbiting a frig with a frig didn't help much.
Repeat with the other 2 groups. When I first did WC I didn't even know I can just rush gates. I ended up killing them all without warping away by doing this. My range then was 15km, 125mm rails with Tungsten S.

I completely agree with Nubiwan, i heeded his advice on flanking each cluster of rats and stayed at optimal range and barley got a scratch. In an incursus, fitted with an overdrive ,and good afterburner i was able to hit about 850 M/s . Which made it a cinch to out-run in no time. I also used two 150mm compressed coil rails and a 125mm compressed coil. And a decent sheild booster helped with the love taps.

I had a hard time on this one too, until I read these posts. The best tip was to head away from the rats. I used a condor with a nosforatu, a small missile launcher and a 125mm hybrid turret with lead ammo and bloodclaw missiles and two civilian shield boosters on. Didn't take anything too expensive because the power grid couldn't handle it and I'd already lost two ships.
I just jumped past to the first two sets, and then headed away from the rats in the last area where the damaged heron is. Because of the fast ship the rats couldn't keep up and I was able to pick them off one by one, using the nosforatu to top up the power and keep my shield boosters running.
Thank you for the advice guys, this one was driving me nuts.

Just lost my Merlin to this mission, 1st time any lvl mission has been remotely challenging so I was caught totally off guard.
I actually went in the first time and warped out when my shields were failing when I got to the damaged ship. I was trying to open the cargo to rescue the crew and the lock kept dropping off so I couldn't get them out (assuming they are in the damaged ship?), so I was concentrating on this, failed and jumped out.
I then regrouped and went back in. This time I killed all the nearest rats easily and got*****y so engaged in the second section...big mistake, next thing I knew I was getting hit by 8 or 9 ships and my shields, armor and hull went in seconds even with a very solid tank. Tried to jump out but no time....gutted.
Anyway, I've found this thread which has cheered me up a lot to know I'm not the only one caught out by this mission.
I've read suggestions about all kinds of ships being used on this mission but I thought it was limited to Frigate class ships? is this right or wrong?
I have a Caracal which I would love to take in and avenge my Merlin, can I get in with this? and is it a wise idea, it's more powerful but slower. Is another Merlin/Falcon with an afterburner a better idea?
K, thanks Guys :)

Not sure if I have missed it, but the secret to solving this mission is to kill all the rats at ONE gate in the first "room" (the one you enter at first warp in). I suggest the Guristas side.
Second room is the room with the Starbase. Ignore every rat in this room, ESPECIALLY the two destroyers. If you pop any of those two, the whole room gets swamped with rats. Just AB to the gate and jump thru. Now you are in the last room. Some rats there and a broken down Heron. Kill all the rats in that room and loot the Heron. Home free!

I did WC (lvl4) last night and when i went back to loot and salvage (Serp Side) there was an Overseer spawn. Jumped in my Raven, poped him for his 4.5 mil bounty and picked up some faction loot (Serp Metalic Armor Hardener, Serp Iron charges of note)
Tried waiting on the Guristas side, but nothing ever spawned :(

Tried it again tonight with a Kestrel but was unhappy with the setup before I even set off.
The Kestrel is slightly faster and speed is needed here and I like the idea of 4 missile lauchers but the cpu, power grid and capacitor are much weaker than the Merlin and it only has 3 medium slots against 4, but I tried anyway and nearly pulled it off except it's in Jita, i.e. lag central.
The lag didn't seem to affect the rats like it affected me so I was pressing keys and buttons and bugger all was happening so after getting to the Heron and asking the cargo bay to open, I just sat there while the time ticked by and the only thing not lagging was the incoming fire. In the end I had to warp out wit no shield no armor and about <30% of my hull left.
I limped back to base and got out my trusty armor and hull repairs then bought another Merlin.
Now with naturally stronger armor and hitpoints plus a stronger hybrid shield tank, AB and cap booster I went back in, flew straight through the first 2 areas like recommended above and this time took out all the rats with my Merlin at the iner area.....I had no choice as the lag prevented me doing it any other way.
Finished the mission and savaged what was around then went back to the first area and took out the nearest rats and their salvage.
Like said here and on other threads, easy when you know how but I think the lag is a big part of the problem with WC. They should move it to another system so it can be played properly.
When salvaging the wrecks it was taking 20-30 seconds to get the cargo to even appear once the cargo bay was open, then a delay of half that for it to move to my bay. Virtually unplayable like this so surely not a sensible place to place the toughest (or one of them) mission.
Anyway, thanks for the help.

Pretty easy if you speed tank with autocannons on a rifter, you should be able to push your speed high enough that they won't be able to kill you before you kill them and as you kill more of the ships the total incoming DPS goes down which makes it easier to tank. If you're using a rifter I'd go shield tanking for this one so you can get speed mods/gyros in lows. -=^=- "Someday the world will recognize the genius in my insanity." |

My Gallente Imicus dominates WC. I have 1 million SP. Drone frigate owns this mission.
I use 3 drones with 800k SP in drone skills. Frigate 4.
Gear: 2x Small Shield Extender 2x 125mm Rail with iridium or AM 1x small armor rep Then ... 1x something, I think a power diagnostic or something.
For most of the mission I stay away from the enemy at about 25km, then I close to 15km and pick off the biggest guy. I send my drones in first, and juggle them in and out as they are wounded.

Phew glad I found this topic, earlier today I lost a merlin to worlds collide and felt bad that maybe I wasn't outfitting it properly. I went in to the 2nd gate (guristas) after that with my Rifter w/the following:
2x200mm light scout autocannon w/lead charge s loaded med shield ext, 1MN afterburner, kinetic resist amp 3x shield power relays
After I got my stuff I just raced to the final gate and easily took out all the ships there and finished the mission, actually took me by suprise how easy the final part was so from now on i'm just going to skip fighting the rats in the middle gates.

They lie, they lie / They are foresworn ... "
It may be an "undocumented feature", but I got handed this last nigth and, having looked up everybody's clues, decided to hit the gate guards first, in a Thrasher. (Yes, I'm a Min -- let's have the string-and-baling-wire jokes now, and get rid of them)
Having done them (both sorts, so that if I got killed, I at least had the bounties and loot), I tippy-toed up to the gate, and knocked. Imagine my surprise (having been told, emphatically and in RED ink, by my agent, that only a frigate could open the gates) when the gate oipened and I was into room 2 (the wrong one, as it happened, but ... ).
So I burned rubber (or vacuum) to the gate, desperately trying to hold off the two guys trying to fry me, killed me, and side-slipped the other, expecting that here the gate wouldn't. But it did.
So, in short, you can take a dee-dee-dee-destroyer through (or you could last night -- and doing so makes it a hell of a lot easier than it would have been in a Rifter or a Reaper.
I also got a pretty good payoff, which makes up for dropping 7 mil trying to buy and equip a mining cru, only to have my can nicked while I went for the indy to collect it (sob, sniff)
To my cousin n00bs out there, gleetings and fly well To my good friends who've helped me so far along the road, thanks and we'll work together someday soon To the Angel Cartel, SMIDSY.

You cannot do it with a cruiser ...because you wont be allowed to warp in with this. You really really will have problem to do it with a frigate. Conclusio do it with a Destroyer, fit it with the right equippment and you can do it. Later is a Destroyer also very nice for hauling too. Learn to fit it now,and you will save later alot of isk's .

My advice would be for the people who are having trouble with WC to group up and do it together, then split the agent reward at the end. Missions don't need to be done solo.
Personally, when I get level 4 worlds collide I do the serpentis side and my friend does the guristas side. Then we do the last level together.

Never tried this mission before, but its "reputation precedes it." Anyhoo, I've been flying a cruiser for a couple of days, and - voila! I got WC mission.
I'm going to try this mission tomorrow morning when the lag is gone. Here's my setup:
Tristan 2 Std Missile launchers (Light Flameburst), 75mm, 125mm rail with AM 2 Shield boosters, 1 AB Damage Control I, SAR, 100mm steel plate Acolyte Drone in bay
Couldn't use my Cap battery or Nos b/c of cpu limitations.
I'm gonna try and make a run for it in the second room. If I get some distance I may launch drone and try to peck away at them.
Any thoughts?

Edited by: Kusha''an on 15/12/2007 19:50:30 Well, despite the lack of replies, I tried the mission with the aforementioned Tristan. I must say this little ship is a hardy little bugger, and it takes a punch as well as any frigate out there. I lost shields right away in the 2nd room, but the armor repper and damage control tanked well enough for me to immediately warp to the third, where I could have tanked those weak little pirates forever. My Flamebursts made short and spectacular work of them and I coasted home. Gotta say I really like this little ship.
Thanks to everyone for the tips. I wrote a short checklist of each step I would take when warping in so that I would not be flustered and panic.
1. Shield boosters 2. Damage control 3. Select destination and turn on AB 4. After losing shields, turn on armor repper 5. When fighting, launch drone.
The only thing I did stupid was launch my drone in the 2nd room. I didn't realize I could almost immed warp out. I then left it behind, but it's only a cheap acolyte, I have tons of them.
Oh, I forgot, I've been in around 2 weeks and have 988,000 SP.

Hi all.
This is the hardest lvl 1 mission available as far as I'm concerned, and have seen a lot of people lose their ships on it.
I set up a channel to help out for just such a mission, called helpmymission.
Its totally genuine, with a lot of experienced people in there who are more than happy to help people out.
We have helped out on all sorts of missions, from lvl 1 to lvl 4 and have had people fly 20 - 30 jumps to give people a hand.
Please check out my bio in game for more info, and hopefully it might encourage people not to leave Eve just because of one very hard mission .

Aw i got it, its a running mission (dont fight just run/flee). But where? Jump gate cant activate at range 0-500. Its bug? :(
Lost second ship already (first my mistake: started fight, second couldnt warp out beacuse i was too close to an installation...) Dont give up tho.
*With full skills this easy quest... But its for 2 weeks oldies :xD*

Edited by: Pteranodon on 20/06/2008 13:43:33 I really liked the leve1 1 version of this mission. I got it when I cross trained to Fly Caldari & guess what being a level 4 veteran did not mean jack as I had to do this mission in a small ship (level 1 mission-small ship)
I used an Incursus fitted with 125mm guns & thorium ammo. I used a tec2 small armor rep & an engergised plate with CCC's so it could perma rep. The afterburner kept me going at 700K & the ships did little damage around the stricken vessel before the incursus killed them all- good little ship that incursus.
I freely admit that my skills in battleships helped me fit this little ship way better than a fresh noob but hey that is what skills are about. Fly safe.

I had a little bit of trouble with this mission as well. Had the patch loaded as well. big mistake. game quit just as i started fighting. got lucky, on the restart I was just warping in. deleted the patch. I took the other route to complete this level. I used hit and run tactics and gradually killed them all in every room. had to warp out 3 times for repairs but got it done. the loot is worth the time to kill them all. use my Cormy. 3 guns and flameburst. not tanked out. med shield extender. I like to get them engaged, align to a warp point, and kill them 1 by 1 as they trail me. if i take too much damage i hit auto pilot, lick my wounds and finish them off.

Worlds Collide is the only level 1 Mission that has any challenge to it, I think a DEV felt extra mean when setting it up.
Anyway, I have also lost a couple of Kestrels to this mission, and I find being unprepared and unaware is the reason why alot of people fail at this mission, you expect it to be another walk over "pew pew" mission, when it really isn't.
You have to fit specfically for this mission entirly.
I have soloed the first two rooms in a Shield tanked Kestrel without an AB using a tactic I discovered once. Even a Kestrel will be able to out run any of the ships, so once you have taken out the long range targets, run one way until all of them are chasing you and out of range. Slow down slightly so they start catching up with you ever so slowly, once they are in 20km, fire missles at them one by one.
If they get too close, speed up to 25km and slow down again, I solo'd both home bases this way. Even popping the destroyers first.Didn't take anything above 50 shield damage, even a un tanked Kestrel can achieve this if you can get out of range fast enough.
The last room is different because you warp in with alot of them already in range and they screw you over before you can get out of range -_-

Just get the fastest Minmatar frigate you can and place an AB on it and maybe some overdrive injectors, then get a small shield booster and passive shield resists if you can on it. This should allow you to fly to the gate (WITHOUT the blue nebula) without getting attacked and fly to the next gate with taking little damage, don't bother attacking anyone until the 3rd gate, immediately speed away from everyone and attack at range. This is how I used to complete Worlds Collide, the other gate with the blue nebula might hold some good reward but I've never done it yet, I might try it though.

I just think that this mission is not apropriate for Lvl 1. And thanks for the social skills tip. I never took them in consideration.
It is appropriate- it teaches you that Eve is not a stroll in the park. I did this level 1 mission in an incursus fitted with an EANM, small armor repairer 2, 150MM rails with thorium & an afterburner. The rats in the objective room got toasted in seconds & the mission was really easy- just don't pick a fight with what you can't defeat & you will be fine.

How much do you lose each time you die? if you are insured and are fitting mostly T1 stuff on a kestrel it shouldn't cost you more than 150k or so. If you are losing a million you are just fitting too expensive stuff for your skills/income IMHO.
Quote:
Dunn'o how you guys rush by the NPC in the base pocket but my Kestrel with AB and Shield Boost 1 got toasted half the way to the gate.
I also fly a kestrel, and I died once to this mission too, but it's not true you have to rush it, you can take them all out with a kestrel, even with mediocre skills (I am 2 weeks into the game).
You need an AB, so you don't get them all on your back at same time, missile launchers so you can hit from afar, and a shield booster plus a capacitor booster. With the capacitor booster you can get a lot more cycles out of your shield booster before it runs out, and your tank improves by a LOT.
Good luck!

The biggest problem with this mission is how hard it is *compared to other level 1s*.
I got it as my first mission on my minmatar trader (high charisma, crappy combat skills). Destroyed instantly.
Now that I have a) a character with halfway decent skills, b) a kessie with decent fittings, c) a tank, and d) some kind of clue in general, I can do it fairly easily.
Keep at it. It's probably the hardest level 1 agent mission - in fact, in context it's one of the hardest missions out there.
The trick is to not mess up. If you destroy the initial ships in the 2nd room, then warp to the 3rd room, then need to warp out, you're totally boned - my kessie got blown up before I could fire a volley and warp out several times.
Once you can take out the 3rd room reliably without having to warp out, it's not too hard. Speed to the first gate. Speed to the second gate (killing the initial spawn if you absoloutely need to - but beware this means that more ships will spawn). Then clean up.
Alternately, use your free once-per-4h-refusal to ditch it and get something easier. |
