Nice and simple .... and HARSH
Unless you are in a station you cannot log off in a system where there is another player you are at war with, PERIOD.
If you D/C bad luck you stay in space and don't warp off or cloak until there are no more war targets in local.

Edited by: D''onryu Shoqui on 17/01/2007 01:34:34 and then the alts with cloak that never log of start apearing in peoples home systems, great idea.
simple fix is to do what every other mmo does have a 30sec log off timer if you dont use it then you get a 15min aggression timer.

Better yet those that log off in space with war target in system are given a warp to beacon marker that all enemy war ships can see and warp to

if everyone gets booted everyone is safe in space having not warped off or cloaked, of course if you value your clone you'll be the first to log back in

Then please tell me you have a solution for people not to go spamming alts in a system and logging them off, leaving the ships to clog the space and the node to eventual death.
...didnt think so.

I don't know why this is such a hard thing to deal with. The devs could fix this easily. If you log off deliberately, then you have to do so with a keystroke or set of keystrokes that cause the logoff to happen. If you are disconnected, then you log off without those keystrokes occurring.
So, it is programmatically very simple to differentiate between a deliberate and accidental logoff, and thus easy to set up a different scenario for each circumstance.
Am I missing something here?

Seriously, there is only 1 reasonable solution to the log off problem, and that is this: 1) Ships that log out can be locked for up to 30 seconds 2) dictor bubbles, and mobile warp disruptors still work if somebody is logged out (the ship is held until it disappers in 30 seconds if not flagged, or 15 minutes if it becomes flagged, or already was flagged. 3) If a ship is aggroed before it disappears (in 30 seconds) then it is flagged for 15 minutes like normal flagging.

ooo even better idea now
people who log off in space dont dissapear but become aggro'd to everyone and thus can be podded by anyone even people in npc corps can be blown outta the sky.
oooooo even even betetr idea
anyone who logs or is d/c in space (cept for thoes who do it inside POS bubble or station automatically explodes ......mmm even simpler then there's no grey area or room to sploit it

or maybe concord just come whenever you log in space, even in 0.0... and pwn you.
then they deliver you cargo to the nearest hostile hanger.
shamiz is right though. it is too convienient how many 'get dropped connection' when gate camp/hostile enter system/etc. only 1/100 (or maybe 1/1000 times) you would actually die to something that not intentional. __ Weirda Join QotSA |

Yup, because how can you see the difference between some-one who crashes and some-one who just logs out by removing his network-cable/disabling his network so it looks like he had a crash ?
There's just no easy solution though i think it would be nice if some-one who is aggroed AFTER he logs also stays in space for 15 mins. If you are aggroed within the minute you probably logged at the wrong space (gatecamp) and/or at the wrong time (hostiles in system) and deserve to be killed.
1 extra option is needed though, you should be able to turn-off the emergency warp-off. When at a POS you want to stay there when you log, and not be warped away to a not so safe place

^**&^%% war decs. I hate them. just gives people with more isk/players a way to gangbang smaller corps. Yes, I m a whiney carebear, and the last time a corp I was in got wardecced, i ran like a little girl to 0.0

All that needs to be done, is whatever CCP deems appropriate, but they just need to do it, and do it soon. Login gank squads, logoff tactics by entire fleets, logging off to avoid being killed, are all being used on a daily basis as standard tactics and it not only lame, but it completely ruins all immersion in the game. This needs to be fixed.

How about to combat the logon trap, if you log in space, gate/pos/safespot or whatever, you cant move, activate modules for up to 'x' minutes.
CTRL-Q should have an ingame timer that waits x seconds to log out if in space. If your POS'd - yer safe, if your in a station, yer safe. if your in space... chances are you could be pwnd.
Pulling network cables is a little more effort, and give the other party a few seconds to agro the assailant. ---------
