RMC+SW vs. DRF; The war for Russian supremacy
Props to EVENEWS24 writer Iam Lynch for a great write-up of a long sprawling conflict in the Insmother region, that has been going on for 2 months. Affecting the membership numbers in Red Alliance - hardly at all. The Insmother map has been broken up; how long will the coalition that formed just to fight Red Alliance hold together? |

It's the massive coalitions that make 0.0 stable and thus boring, it's the silly power projection that makes 0.0 empty. Oh right. Because every single pocket of 0.0 is not carebearing like hell right now.
And yeah, let's be proud big alliances are dying one after another, until there are only 2 left and you can rename TQ CEVE 2. :)
Taking content from people to force them do what you think is best is surely easier, but giving them more content is what will actually be better for both the players and the game.
Big fights and big ships is what EVE has always been about and this what attracts new players. Whoever told you people care about logistic frigs or hilariously OP destroyers has lied to you. The result is below:

2015 was the year that you single handedly drove off hundreds of players by introducing the Entosis BS to the game. A load of crap that no one enjoyed, impossible to defend, not fun to do except to griefers... This one element alone was the downfall of one of the fastest up and coming alliances, Gentlemen's Club. That and jump fatigue took most of the fun out of the game just as I was Dread capable. Good job. |

For those who are factually and quantitatively driven, 2015 was no winning year for Eve Online:
- The largest and most consistent drop in online players since the game's launch
- Average players online have dropped almost 50% from two years ago
- The most pervasive drop in new character creation since launch
- The three largest alliances have solidified their place and ubiquitously dominate the top of killboards, suffocating any other group's ability to rise up and challenge them
- Server and system performance continue to drop, now producing excessive time dilation with <300 man fights, while fewer players have systems that can support the application
- Dramatic reduction in visits and comments on independent eve-news sites
- Scandal, dysfunction and fraud rampant on the CSM and in the Alliance Tournament
(sources: zkillboard.com, eve-offline.net, alexa.com, evenews24.com, themittani.com)
You may dismiss me as someone 'resistant to change', but I supported CCP's efforts to reform jump range, sov. mechanics, structures and capital ships. However, these changes (and others) have decimated the player base and disenfranchised our most effective content creators without inspiring new ones. I was wrong, and so was CCP. It is time to admit your mistakes and take corrective action.
What I hope for in 2016:
- We need real options and tools for corporation and alliance management. The changes introduced in 2015 were weak. Give us options for democratic organizations that periodically elect their leaders. Give us better options for controlling and reporting isk flow. Give us in-game security/background tools. Give us out of game communication tools: a mobile app for pinging fleets, a turn-key forum solution, etc. The IT manager for a high-level alliance said running alliance services is the fastest way to permanently burn out experienced leaders, these are the problems you should be addressing with new features.
- FIX THE RORQUAL.
- We need real market orders: limit, stop, market, trailing, etc; and in-game tools to better determine value, profit, etc.
- No more obsession with 'new things' - we don't need new NPCs, ships, skins, systems or apparel. We need the existing game features and mechanics to be in a state of continual improvement. CCPs efforts should be 100% focused on the 'little things', UI improvements, and performance issues that ALL players welcome.
- An end to never-ending 'balancing', and a new metric for balance that does not rely on usage statistics (people are not perfectly logical and ship/weapon choices are dependent on much more then their effectiveness - familiarity, appearance, training, tradition are major factors that you will never 'balance' away). Some tactics, weapons, ships will always be more popular than others, and that is ok.
- An end to the constant state of change, players should be able to take a break for a few months without returning to a game with completely different mechanics. This is a great game, you don't need to change it constantly, doing so only frustrates experienced players who come back to find their hard-earned knowledge obsolete. Chess would not be perpetually successful if the rules changed every few months. This game is capable of being as culturally significant as chess, but greater consistency is required to make it timeless.
- Stop advertising to existing players. We need new blood, but the only ads I ever see for Eve Online are on eve websites, I'm not sure how that is supposed to grow your customer base. CCP should advertise to college students, programmers, economists, traders and other markets that have historically been receptive of the product.
- Stop developing new products. Eve Online is a great game, capable of being much more popular, but if CCP continues to sink excessive energy and capital into developing new half-hearted intellectual properties that have limited commercial appeal, the core product will continue to suffer.
- Finally, I don't know how CCP is managed/administered, but I suspect that the time has come for a leadership change.

Wrong thread for such discussion but I disagree partially.
I want skins, maybe in a less inflationary rate to keep them somehow special. I want apparel and I want the ability to go out of my captains quarter.
The world is changing and so the people and customers on it. For someone old who played games in b/w under DOS EVE is just unbelievable awesome as it is. But for people where 911 is something from history books, who will grow up with VR devices and for which augmented reality is something ordinarily like cell phones today, EVE will be nothing more than one of many old retro games if it doesn't go with the time.
Sure it will find its fans like chess but I don't know anyone who will pay 15 bucks a month just to play online chess.
Maybe CCP should think about splitting the EVE universe in one which stays forever how it is, maybe with a rollback of a few years, and one universe to go one in a hopefully successful future.

I'm flattered and honored that videos of the Luminaire Snowball Fight III made it into the year in review! Thanks to Falcon, Logibro, the 12 ISDs, EVE Radio, and everyone in attendance!
Let's do it again!
Recommendations:
-enable ships wobbling in hangar view (pre-Captains Quarters)
-add more missions (NPC fleet vs. NPC fleets that actually shoot)
-STOP NERFING EVERYTHING!

2013/14/15, What have we seen in EVE, lots of unfulfilled promises spun off as positive features. Masses of players un-subbing accounts causing Corporations and Alliances to fold, major content dissatisfaction being the stated reason for some but for most they simply say all they need to say by not logging in any more finding EVE a flat boring game with little to interest and more importantly hold them in the game.
Over this we have the promised Citadel idea, still not fleshed out yet forecast for introduction soon with no real information on how it's implementation will affect player built stations that Alliances and players alike have so much already invested in and alongside this changes to Capitals of all types which even to those really not interested in flying them brings the realisation that CCP are in truth simply creating a massive ISK sink while at the same time reducing the already mediocre input of Caps to the area that BS once held and were nerfed out of in such a ham fisted manner.
The overall effect of the past five years of the current group of Dev's high ideals is the fatal damage caused to the games community that once drove this game forwards daily, Seagulls recent mewling pleas for players to simply trust CCP and keep paying up fell on so many deaf ears it was laughable, players still stood down in droves, it seems to some that CCP are currently so divorced from the players base that it would not matter to them if we all quit and walked away, it's doubtful they would notice tbh, others love the changes made so far and still others wonder if CCP will ever wake up and smell the roses for once.
Happy New year CCP Dev's let hope you still have a job by the end of this year. |

soooo .... 2015 was such a great year for EVE-Online ??? funny , the ppl i fly with dont seem to think so .... for starters we had the banning of input broadcasting (yes i was a multiboxer who used it , 13 accounts down to 4 ) and that caused a drop in numbers ... yes i know a lot of ppl love that change but it also pushed a lot away from the game .... then there was Drifter incursions .... just as ppl worked out how to run them CCP moved the goalposts and made us bash our heads on keyboards all over again to figure out new doctrines .... and then there's Jump Fatigue !!! .... i have flown my carrier ONCE this year and after ending up with a 25 day jump fatigue timer i parked it up alongside my dread and rorqual , threw a dust cover over it and left it to rot .... i doubt i will ever fly a capital again ... numbers are falling all over eve ... even high sec carebears are dissapearing in droves .... i FC high sec incursions and have done on and off for 4 years and the numbers in game are so low atm that instead of running 2-3 different vg fleets at one time , upgrading to assault and HQ sites daily , the community i fly with struggles to keep a single vg fleet going for more than a few hrs and we may get the numbers for assaults 2-3 times a week and a HQ fleet on weekends .... if we're lucky ..... and its not just my community .... its all incursion communities across the board ..... EVE-Online is dieing and CCP are doing their best to hasten the death .... as a nearly 10 yr vet i am saddened by the changes brought about in 2015 and only hope CCP can see the error of their ways and stop introducing rubbish like ship skins and clothing !! Hell , if you want us to have pretty coloured ships , let us do our own paint schemes ( not that im ever zoomed in close enough to actualy see the skins, they are nothing but bling for station bound ship spinners imho) and as for clothing ... when i started playing EVE i was led to believe that as Pod Pilots we were hardwired into our pods .... so why would we need clothing in an egg full of fluid Eve is a game of INTERNET SPACESHIPS , not INTERNET FASHION SHOWS ... get back to basics , fix what you have broken , and then get back to creating real content , not window dressing a dieing dog Sorry CCP Phantom , you may be happy and think its been a good year but a lot of your clients (especialy the older ones ) do not agree and quite a few are voting with their feet and leaving the game
RIP EVE-Online ..... its been fun |

Greetings o7
Appreciate the hard work you guys put in to the game.
Good things this year:
Fozzy Sov, although a work in progress, it definitely shook things up, which was needed :)
New ships, new anything is always good, and T3 dessies really took off :)
Bad things:
Drifters, was a decent idea, but left most people wondering what the point was.
Doing away with free 20 day training time at x-mas, was a major let down, - Don't get cheap on your customers, it costs you nothing to give training time, and means a lot to people who need it.
Happy new years guys o/ |

Year 2015 in nutshell?
Many CCP's attempts to fix a lot of things they broke in the past, unfortunately breaking them even more as a end result (probably to show the folks it wasnt broken that much afterall).
Even more CCP's attempts to fix things that were not broken at all (probably to show the people they are actually doin at least something)
Looks like CCP moved half the Devs to "Creative Team" to be able to bring a handfull of skins every week to satisfy the minority of players who actually somewhat care.
Promising and implementing things which make no sense causing earthquake in the ranks of whatever left from subscribers. Also promising things, that all know, are not gonna happen. Ever!
Hiring a weirdo to tell people, the situation is not that bad, and to not to panic. All this is apparently a part of some "Bigger Plan" to make EVE a better place with bright future and whatnot for everyone. Canceling "work in progress" patches and bringing back "work in progress" expansions.
So that was year 2015 for me. But hey lets not be completely negative, now lemme look on the bright side right? With this tempo there will be nothing left to f*ck up by 2017 :) |

2015 was not a good year.
I have no interest at all in flying small hulls or in orbiting a structure to "capture it"
First time since 2006 i have moved everything out of null sec.
Bio Massed 7 accounts (and no, nothing to do with isboxer)
plexed my remaining accounts with no intention of re-subbing
realized that the long term game play strategy of eve had been destroyed
went from 4-6 hrs a day playing eve to 3-4 hrs a month
seriously started playing other games
also, Happy new year.
