there is already a mechanism for giving people things after accepting a mission (eg transport X to Y) so im wndering if as part of a storyline mission (as it may be a bit unfair for a standard mission) giving the player in exchange for quite a big collateral a Ship say a faction frig for the lower lvls and ask that he fly that ship as part of the mission.
prehaps by limiting the initial acc gate to that ship because i can see a few interesting missions from that for example.
flying for your amarr agent he asks you to help destabalise relations between the gallente and the minmatar for this purpouse a captured minnie faction rifter is put at your disposal to strike at a gallente position leaving survivors to spread the word of minmatar agression but destroying an important facility
Why?
1) the mission can be balanced to the ship to make it a challenge, granted after a run thru or 2 the pilot will know how to set it up but lets face it that happens in normal missions.
2) risk, if you lose the ship you lose the mission and the colateral
3) added veriety :)

the collateral would have to be insanely high, or you'd just end up accepting the misison, getting the frig and abborting it to keep it. now if that was goin to happen on a lvl 4, what would you yet, a navy or maybe fleet mega? navy raven? rattlesnake? and can you pay 3 bil isk collateral? surely it would be fun, but collateral would be WAAAAAAAY to high for average players and they'd have to turn those missions down. maybe with a seperate tree of new type of agents (instead of internal sec, mining, personal etc make a new division for infiltration or something), but not as regular missions. not for storyline though, since everybody should be able to run storyline, but then again the collateral issue bumps up ;)

i realise the colateral would have to be high, prehaps lvls 1 and 2 would be a specific T1 ship rather than a faction ship
also a corp mate said "so you want me to fly a rifter" so another example may be that the aformentioned amarr agent wants you to fly the amarr colours as you bring justice to the heathens with a prophecy or prehaps a navy slicer so they know whom there masters are.

Not to mention the fact that it would be unfair to people unskilled to fly said ship... Or do all minmatar mission runners fly minmatar ships...

I certainly think it would be too unfair for a standard mission but i think storyline missions should be exactly that a good story and improved from what they are now, bring me 8K of kernite and i will give you a +4 is not a story, go blow up an angel shipyard is not a story as its the same as every normal mission
A story is somthing like
mission 1) gurista's are using mass drivers to shoot veld roids from a hidden belt at a planet in this system the planetary shields are holding but ice reserves are running low, deliver ice to a station in the system so planetary shuttles can ship it down.
mission 2 with the shields up the planets long range scanners are impared, you need to scan out the hostiles and destroy there listening post outside the main complex.
mission 3 destroy the mass drivers and there gaurds and let them know that the cald/amarr/minnies/gal are there superiors by using a Drake/harbringer/huricane/Sharlin that the agent will loan you to acomplish the mission.
if some people cant take part in that particular one because of skills then better luck next time or get someone else to do the skills stuff.

Why not simply set the ship to self-destruct after a certain amount of time, to prevent it falling into enemy (or your) hands? If missions can be rigged to stop giving bonuses after a time expires, I'm certain that they can be rigged to set the self-destruct in a ship as well. |

Very good idea, i don't do missions on a regular basis due to.. well.. it's boring, this would make it interesting.

yeah, easy solution, if mission is cancelled ship goes 'BOOOM!!!'
Would be funny, and the 'racial' ships could just be general purpose made to your abilities for that specific mission so it wouldn't matter what your skill is.
I do hope ccp will sooner or laterÖ introduce team effort missions (perhaps L5's?) where u need to accept missions with multiple people and maybe several mission objectives u need to do at the same time so to stimulate group missions. Resized tag... again... hope this pleases the tag ninjas from ccp... again :p
