Hi all, which Tech II drones are best if I run missions for Gallente's Federation Navy? I do realize that the foes I face are different but i was hoping for more of a general bit of advice.
Am i better off training for Gallente Drone Specialization? Or most likey be forced to train all races eventually? Thank you in advance.

Edited by: Alacar on 22/01/2007 21:16:02 I use thermal(gallente) drones against all rats. Works fine. |

Gallente's with Thermal and Minmatar with Explosive are both very good.

Train Gallente Specialization first. Most of the missions for Gallente are against serpentis and they are week against thermal. I use tech2 hammerheads and Ogres on all missions Gallente agents throw at me.

Ogres II for BS/HAC, Hammerhead II for Cruisers and Hobgoblin II for Frigates. Overall, thermal drones are best.

I've found that gallente drones are the best, but hammerhead IIs are outrageously expensive, so I'm considering training for other drones, either minnie or caldari. For heavies, though, ogre IIs are awesome and not overpriced imo.

Edited by: Iluminat on 23/01/2007 18:59:29 With t2 drones prices in empire (almost 2m for valky's II) i guess it's better to train medium drone skills to max (incl. drone interfacing) and use the cheap t1 drones |

Oh God you're all hopeless.
Hobgoblins, Hammerheads, Ogres: Deal thermal damage, have highest damage multiplier and are toughest of the 4 varieties. Are very slow, and very expensive because everyone uses them, losing them to some cheeky rats will cost you 11-12 mil for a full set of Hammer IIs.
Hornets, Vespas, Wasps: Deal Kinetic damage, move fairly fast, have strongest shields of all drone flavours. My favourite because I fight alot of Serpentis (I work for the FIO) and Serpentis have the same kin/therm resists as far as I know. I know my Cataclysm (therm) and Wrath (kin)cruise missiles do pretty, much the same damage overall. Cost VASTLY less than thermal equivalents, 4 mil for 5 x Vespa IIs.
Warriors, Valkyries, Berserkers: Deal explosive damage, have lowest dps (but barely) but are very fast, which is often more important IMO. Also cheap.
Acolytes, Infiltrators, Praetors: Deal EM damage, have tough armor but worst dps, fairly useless because all rats have high EM resists except rogue drones, and then the Praetor ain't fast enough so Acolyte IIs will generally suffice. Also cheap.
At the end of the day, you may as well train them all except EM, since you will probably use them all. Whoever you work for will give you missions against everybody, so being able to use them all is important. Certainly Ogres and Hammerheads are the best overall choice, and are best against Serpentis who you will fight most of the time. But every time a rat agro's a Hammerhead II, webs it and kill it before it gets back to you, that's 2.4 mil gone, which to me is ridiculous, so I use Vespas.
Use thermal against: Serpentis, Blood Raiders, Sansha, and Mercs. Use kinetic against: all of the above, Guristas, Mordus. Angels if you can't use exp. drones. Use explosive against: Angel. Do not use thermals. ------ ------
