Ok so ive been playing for a year and you know what , I want aliens, everything in this game revolves around humans and eveolved humans (jove) but space feels so empty, rogue drones are close to aliens, but if thats all we get why not evolve the story of them ?
Make them smarter allow them to comunicate add a whole story arc infact add any story arc this game has no story, I want a storyline of some kind story, with cutscenes using the ingame engine.
I would also like to see more NPC ships in groups just flying around right now all we have is the odd merchant, why not see a fleet of serpentis ships hanging out at a moon for no reason, maybee if you find them it will engage some kind of storyline mission.
FOr all of the things you can do in this game and for all of its freedom a little linear game play would be nice now and then, space feels so boring and empty.
Dont get me wrong I love the game just wish there was more to love.

Slaver hounds and lots of other critter are aliens. They have not their origin in earth type lifeforms (as far as I know anyway).
though staring at them in your hangar might not be satisfying :)
I don't think CCP ever said that it was impossible for aliens to exist but you'd have to be very carefull if your goal is to include intelligent aliens in this closely knitten storyline.

No, aliens but I do agree with more traffic. It would add to the atmosphere of the game.

Looking from EVE setting point of view, there is no room for big mighty aliens in our galaxy. If there were space traveling aliens, they would have to come from another galaxy. And if they are capable of intergalactic travel, they would be a little more technologically advanced than humanity of EVE. More advanced than the Jovians.
Perhaps many (real) years from now, introducing such aliens would be a possibility. But for next 2 years, there won't be any such things. There are still Jovians that need to be properly integrated in the game

Edited by: Maximillian Pele on 23/01/2007 06:29:56 The problem with Aliens in games is they are usually "Star Trekish" in that they look and act like humans just with egg cartons glued to their heads (and they usually speak english too).
I have day dreamed a couple of times about a CCP run event where unexpectedly their is an alien incursion into the known EvE Universe, and players had the option of resisting the invasion (maybe with a few items of phat alien loot leading to Tech 3).
Due to the ^^.
Aliens could arrive via a wormhole just as the original humans once did.
Another alternative would be to have rogue drones start evolving - say along the lines of the Berserkers.
In times of doubt I ask myself "What would BoB do?", and then do the opposite. |

You should read this thread. I like the idea, but from what I've read, it's nearly impossible in the near future. CCP is just dealing with PvP mechanics (after all, EVE is about PvP, NPCs don't pay the bills) to distract their attentions to a PvE storyline.

Sorry guys But Has Anyone Else played E&B way back when by EA, that idea of habing ALIENS ATTACK is exactly what happen, EA over stepped the level of thought put into their game and it hit the ****er fast. Aliens, maybe but reasonable in sense as to not follow other games ideas, learn from ignorant and rushed approaches to games like E&B (Earth and Beyond).

Think having Aliens in Eve will spoil it. I kinda like that it's all other humans and not some alien called Flemdar from the planet Bloopybloop with a cornish pasty for a forehead.

why do they have to attack and be violent like so many things in eve.. why do we have to see their faces and hear their voices? they could be wale-like creatures living close to stars.. they could be so much more then bipet creatures made of flesh who fly around in metal cocoons. make then weird space anomalies or whatever ;) ofcourse its hard to all of a sudden make then appear.. but it would sertainly add new atmosphere to this game..
on the more violand part: i wouldnt see why it is impossible for a new wormhole to open from which those new invaders will emerge... humans did the same after all. and the chance of a wormhole to collapse must be about the same as for one to open with just a couple of (galactical) years in between. we could call it ADAM.

There is a lot of cool stuff they could do, like random "travelling" wormholes leading to completely new, off the map systems containing alien ships and items etc. Im a bit of a star trek viewer myself, and the authors of that show never fail to create a interesting story. I dont think ive ever been bored by a star trek episode. They are all great. There are endless possibilities to create cool stuff in a space-oriented mmorpg like Eve.
I think Eve will evolve in new, exciting ways for many, many years to come.

The thing about aliens in SF games is that they invariably end acting like humans with pointy ears or antennae.

There is no reason for aliens in GAMES to be like humans with funny stuff glued to their heads.
You're too much bound by the images of television and movies if you think aliens are defined by that.
Two entirely different things, and since there is no TV-series or movie about Eve, it would be easy for CCP to make aliens completely different.
Not sure I'd like an alien expansion though, would change the whole dynamic of the game.

Aaaaah... /sheds tear
If aliens are to be let in the game, they should come after an Eve global war or something, to unite all the races against them (corny huh?)

CCP probably have some plans with the drones, make them more intelligent etc.
About the aliens, I wouldn't like having alien race attacking EVE or something similar. But would be cool if they would ad some missions that require you to transport "Aliens" samples etc, nothing big just to show that species have evolved to some degree on habitable planets.
In the future maybe we could see those creatures in 3D, with planetary interaction and station walk, zoos, science shows etc. Or just fly over some forests to have a look at dinosaur size creatures :)
Would also be cool if in some few systems we could see bs/capital size creatures floating in space, similar to some ST shows, they would be inside gas clouds or something. Those creatures will have to be concord protected since they are endangered species. Just to have it real and so players wont kill them for fun to often :P some missions might even be to collect "waist" from them, but if you get to close they might eat you, hump you, what ever has been done on StarTrek and copied over to other Sci-fi shows
excuse my speeeeeling if their are any :)

Giant blob of goo! GIANT BLOB OF GOO!
It would slowly engulf systems whole, and people would be forced to evacuate across empire to escape it, finally becoming more and more crowded and desperate until a solution is finally reached and everyone bundles off into a new wormhole into a new galaxy of nothing but 0.0.
Then the players would be responsible for creating empire anew, erecting the stations (outposts) and colonising the planets. Desperation would eventually turn to routine then to contentment, and then the wars would start. Huge, player driven empire wars that dynamically shapes the entire universe.
Well, I can dream. ___

They don't nessicarily need to be more advanced. They could just have longer, much longer, lives to have crossed the deeps between the galaxies.
Or perhaps they have generation ships, alowing them to cross great distances in many generations. Heck they could have a lower tech than us but slavish obediance to a higher power, like a queen. In other words a hiver.
Personally I'd like to see evolved drones, a dron the size of a carrier that eats belts and turns them into smaller replicas of itself. Whole systems eaten up by drones, from huge to microscopic. EMPs would clear a lot of them but it'd still take fleets to take down the mother ships. _________________________________________________________

By the way, did you ever look at the Earth and Beyond storyline pack? It gave all the story behind the V'rix that was never reached in the game itself, along with tons of other stuff.

There is not alot of jove involvement in the game yet but i guess that will come if they ever open up the jove regions - something that may happen once the Devs feel its time.
Apart from that there are the "dark jove" who secretly influence politics in new eden to benefit themselves, these guys are like ubar nasty and have god mode on.
Would be nice to see some more about them but likewise, the game is not ready for that yet - we have our own wars to sort out first :P ______________________________________

Eve is kind of unique in the fact that there aren't aliens. It tries to be a fairly realistic game and there are massive hurdles when introducing aliens, namely that cultural association for the first decade would be utterly impossible. Plus there is something about the creepier elements of Eve being human; Sansha's Nation reminds me of a space-borne The Hills Have Eyes.
The Jovians have seemingly evolved themselves enough, but who knows really. Once they are better introduced into the game then we can talk about "Something Else."
That said, a non-canon April 1 appearance of V'ger would be amusing, would it not crash the cluster.
