canon
NOUN
1. a general law, rule, principle, or criterion by which something is judged: "the appointment violated the canons of fair play and equal opportunity" synonyms: principle -+ rule -+ law -+ tenet -+ precept -+ standard -+
2. a collection or list of sacred books accepted as genuine: "the formation of the biblical canon"
3. (in the Amarrian Church) the part of the Ceremony containing the words of consecration.
4. music: a piece in which the same melody is begun in different parts successively, so that the imitations overlap.
The common alphabet contains enough symbols to comprise an expressible language. Each letter of any alphabet is used with multiple others to bring life to a representation of a writers meaning/expression. It is not the letter that contains the meaning but the word that the letters formed together define.
Religious canon is the attempt to turn a letter from the alphabet into a definition. It is the believersGÇÖ duty to suspend their disbelief in blind faith adding more to a symbol than it was originally designed to uphold.
It is the method in which the letter A becomes Angel. How the letter B becomes a command. Why the letter C has three definitions.
Reciting the alphabet is the first step in learning how to read. Yet the Amarrians have attached so much meaning to their characters that they no longer know how to read they simply know the alphabet.
The alphabetGǪ
NOUN
1. a set of letters or symbols in a fixed order, used to represent the basic sounds of a language; in particular, the set of letters from A to Z. synonyms: ABCs -+ letters -+ writing system -+ syllabary GÇóthe basic elements in a system that combine to form complex entities: "DNA's 4-letter alphabet"
GǪhas a beginning and an end. The Word of God does not.
A devout believer would argue that the Word of God written in canon is infallible and therefore this argument is superfluous due to old canon being irrefutable and new canon is revised or revisited old canon.
The alphabet is a construction for recording what human minds have translated as the Voice of God into the Word of God. The device itself is manmade and therefore a comprehendible method in observing fellow worshippers record their experiences with an incomprehensible intelligence.
In light of the loop holes in vocal lore, inconsistencies and remissions. The development of spoken word, symbolism and finally the alphabet was a necessity to track the developing beliefs of godly peoples, spiritualists closing in on the glory of God.
When these people were discarded for canon the belief system of the Amarr turned empirical rather than empathetic. Wisdom developed and lessons recorded were canonized to enable disbelievers the ability to hold power within the Empire without understanding it. This crippled their leadership and has led to the downfall of Amarr faith.
Any leader in an organization claiming to speak the word of God or for God should be a canonized author. Their writing and their studies should automatically be viewed as compatible with previous beliefs as well as comprisable with future studies. This keeps followers of men and learners of acolytes as opposed to ever assuming to know the full meaning of the word God. |

Respectfully, Mr. Ephesianos, I'm not sure who you're trying to preach to with these things. If it's us heathens, I'm afraid you may have a problem. I've been studying the Amarrian faith off and on for the better part of a year and I just have no idea at all what you're talking about.
Does someone with a little stronger background in the theology of the faith want to try translating?
Or is this as, ah, "this makes perfect sense to me; why are you all looking at me like that" -ish as it looks? |

It is a Criticism of the Imperial Faith.
It uses Analogies of Letters and Words.
Metaphor.
The individual Verses or Books of Scripture are Letters. When placed together, they form a Whole Word.
The criticism argues that the Imperial Faith has placed so much Emphasis on certain "Letters", that is, certain Books of Scripture, that the Faith has lost understanding of the Scriptures, the "Word", as a whole.
Similar Metaphor: Cannot see the Wood for the Trees.
The criticism argues that the Imperial Faith concentrates so Much on Details, that it has lost Sight of the Overall Meaning.
It goes On to argue that Scripture is Imperfect, and cannot Truly convey the full Meaning of the "Word of God", which is Not Trivially Translatable into Human language.
It then Argues that the Scriptures are used by Certain Persons, to construct and maintain Political Power Structures that have Little to Do with the True Word of God. That the Scripture used by the Imperial Faith has been Perverted by Certain Persons, to justify and Perpetuate a particular Regime.
It also Argues that All Writings or Sayings by Self-Declared Holy Persons, should be considered Acceptable. Extension: This argues that There is No Such Thing as Orthodoxy, Heterodoxy, or Heresy, that these are Man-made Concepts intended to construct and perpetuate certain Political Structures, rather than attempting to Understand the Word of God.
This is My Understanding of what has been Written.
I Disagree on Several Points.

The amount of heresy here is off the damn charts.
Our enemies' blood will paint the blackness of space, a terrible testament to our power. Only God's great Empire shall remain, a beacon of light to guide us in these dark and perilous times. Amarr, ad victoriam! Nam claritas Imperii!
