He wakes, at first shaking his head to bring him to his senses and then regretting that he had. Not just for the hammering inside his temples and behind his eyes, but for the scene around him and the assault it brought his senses. Orange alert lights were accompanied by a cacophanic clammouring alarm. Water falling onto his face and a foul, musky air rushing into his nostrils.
"ATTENTION....ATTENTION.... reactor core breach imminent. Evacuation procedures initiated. Please make your way to the launch bay promtply....ATTENTION...ATTENTION..."
His hand moved to his temples where the fire and pounding seemed to be coming from. Some kind of connector.. he looked down...other tubes and cables connecting him to this pod, now breached. Sitting up he feverishly unplugged himself trying to understand where he was. The hexagonal room His pod sat in a rosette of other pods, all closed, their panels indicating deactivation and liquification long ago. The sense of relief that he hadn't been "deactivated and liquified" was soon overcome by the drastic situation he found himself in. Looking around for some sign of where to go, only a green number 7 on the wall and a door ajar. The skylighted ceiling had fallen in long ago... or was it destroyed. Little matter now as a burning rain was spraying in from the outside.
"Acid rain" the man thought, muttering thanks to whatever bad deed he'd done to deserve this.
He quickly made his way to the entrance and moving into the orange lit corridor, streams of light moving along the passage as if ushering him to his destination. The maze of interconnecting corridors, mostly flooded seemed to all join up. Staggering to the hangar where they met up, his nerve endings ablaze with pain as the ports into his body made him wish he'd not unplugged.
"ATTENTION....ATTENTION.... reactor core breach imminent. Evacuation procedures initiated. Please make your way to the launch bay promtply....ATTENTION...ATTENTION..."
"ALRIGHT!" he growled, bracing himself against an elevator he hoped brought him to a bay with something he could fly out. He could fly, that much he knew at this point, anything more than that wasn't necessary. After all, reactor core breach was imminent.
The elevator jolted at the stop and the gangway leading between the launch bays were an unhappy sight. Empty as far as the man could see.
"Frack!" spitting in disgust he brought the elevator down and rushed across to the large blast doors that were open. The wind from outside wasn't welcoming, whatever planet or moon he was on was obviously unstable. Lightning storms *****ed down at a frequency that didn't comfort him and the rain was moving sideways stinging his eyes and making his open ports flare up all but stopping him in his tracks. Something stopped him though, a tarpaulin was whipping around and underneath he saw the familiar landing skids of a Minmatar shuttle. Running across the bay he ripped off the covering and took in his salvation.
"ATTENTION....ATTENTION.... reactor core breach imminent. Evacuation procedures initiated. Please make your way to the lau.....########ch bay prom##########tply....ATTENTION...ATTENTION..."
Noticing the breakdown in the announcement he hurried, looking for the emergency opening hatch flipping it open. The pod lowered down from its alcove and opened, the ice blue liquid jolted the tubes as it made its way from the reservoirs above. Clambering atop the shuttle, he moves into the pod, gingerly attaching the tubes to the ports in his body and skull. The pod began to close and fill with the blue liquid, oozing up around his dirty feet and naked body he fumbled for the mouthpiece, blowing dust out of the filter and putting the nasal clamp over his nose. The pod closed and his ears began to feel the pressure as the air was slowly vented out by the liquid. An unnerving feeling began to rise in the pit of his stomach, like the feeling you get when the drill starts at the dent-tec
