Edited by: Kumu Honua on 26/01/2007 09:06:32 I've looked for a guide, but had no luck.
I am attempting to get my autopilot settings in such a manner that it will do this:
Avoid 0.0 entirely (Don't wanna mess with bubbles), yet still utilize 0.1-0.4.
My problem is that any setting I have tried either uses 0.0, or avoids lowsec entirely if it can do the whole trip in empire, even if that adds 10 jumps to the trip.
I have tried using shorter path and safer path, and messing with the security penalty slider. No joy.
Anyone have options other than "Help" channel telling me that only rookies use autopilot to plot courses? Or am I doomed to suffer through long empire trips or manually plotting a course one annoying waypoint at a time?

unfortunately, that isnt possible with the current autopilot system ingame.
To be honest, the autopilot system in now is more than enough for everyone. If you really want to set your own course, you can simply set to "shorter path" and plot waypoints yourself. Set it up so that the autopilot does not stop at each waypoint. Rather it'll stop when you reach the end.

If only the security penalty option would work so that I could set it to avoid 0.0 by just high enough of a setting...
Then shortest route would be perfect =/

Edited by: Shanur on 26/01/2007 11:16:28 Set your pathing to avoid low sec, then tinker with that slider right below (i think it's called tolerance level) until it accepts 0.1 but avoids 0.0. That slider determines what systems the safe pather should consider safe and which should be considered unsafe.
EDIT: That option does work, but you must set the strategy to "Prefer safe" or "Prefer unsafe" for it to be taken into consideration. "Prefer shortest" looks purely at distance.

Using the autopilot to tell you which system to travel to next is one thing, but actualy engaging it to travel through low-sec space is not a very good idea, not to mention that fact that manual piloting gets you there faster.

Yeah,
I just have bad luck reading the map, so I rely on set destination to make my course plotting. I do the flying manually however.
Thank you for the tip on the security slider. I kept trying to get it to work with shortest, but setting it safest, and putting the slider down to 1 has allowed it to use lowsec. Putting it to 3 again makes it refuse to use lowsec. Pretty small margin of allowance.
