I know you don't loose all of your sps, it's a certain percentage from a certain skill. Does anyone know what the percentage lost is and from what skill, is it your skill with the most sps?

Edited by: Fedacorr on 27/01/2007 21:32:42 Well, as I've understood it, you always have a 'clone', it's just that if you haven't paid for a better one, you have the 'minimum quality' clone, which is 'good' for a bit over a million skill points. (IIRC)
The game knows what order you learned skills in, and will remove the most recent skills/points earned from your character until the remaining points fall to the level the default clone protects. Exactly how it works with the better clones, as well, they simply 'protect' more skill points.
So, depending on what order you learned skills/skill levels in, you can, and will, lose skill levels, and potentially entire skills, whatever you 'learned' once you were past the number of skill points your clone protects.

From what I understand they stopped doing that, falling to the default alpha clone level because people were leaving the game, imagine a 30mil sp character falling to 900k, that might cause most to leave.

If your clone does not cover your full SP (it doesn't matter if it covers 99% or 1% as long as it's less than 100%) you loose 5% of your total SP or one full level of your highest level/rank skill which ever is less.
These 5% are taken from your highest rank/level skill. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |

It's not that severe any more.
I tested this on the initial Revelations release: you lose 5% of the difference between your current SP and the SP your clone covers.
This SP is taken from the skill with the most SP in it.
The most you'll lose from that skill is 50% of the current SP.

Just wondering, what goes first spare SP or skills?

Whichever is greater - it would be an extreme fluke for them to be equal (since you would have to stop at an exact second) so i wouldnt worry about how it behaves when theyre equal.

As far as I can tell, in the event that two skills have equal SP (say two rank 5 skills to level 5), it goes in list order on your character sheet.
Thus skills from Corporation Management are deducted before Spaceship Command, things from Engineering are lost before Trade, etc.
As Pestachi0 said, it's rare that you'll have 2 skills with exactly the same SP, so I wasn't able to test it more fully.
