If you had Command Ships to 4 before the patch hit that required you to have leadership skills trained to plug it in and you still have Command Ships 4, will you still be able to plug in the skill after the next patch if you don't have the newly required leadership skills trained?

Yea. If you were 'grandfathered' into a ship, you will still be able to fly it, you won't be able to train up it's core skill until those prereqs are finished. So if you have Command Ships 4 and lack the leadership skills that are the prereqs, then you are stuck at command ships 4 until you finish those skills.\
That's how I understand it anyways.

No I can still use train it now. I'm wondering if this will change next patch though?

It was explained on Reddit that if you start training now and never open your skillqueue after the patch it will continue training.
The valid check for if you can train something is performed at the time you hit 'apply' so just start it and leave it to completion. But do it before patch day. |

If you have Command Ships at 4 and wish to train it to 5 without training the prerequisites, you'll need to start the training before the patch and then do not pause (including for jump clones) or change your skill queue for any reason after the patch until it completes. I'm not sure whether plugging in implants would trigger the prerequisite check.

I'm pretty sure plugging in implants would trigger the pre-requesit checks as you have to pause skill training to plug them in; but dont quote me on it.
I expect to get this post deleted or locked. So much for freedom of expression.

With the new system, you wont be able to inject or train further skills where you don't have the prerequisites. This will have a large effect on the Command Ships skill because you'll need to train the leadership skills first.

Nat Silverguard wrote:whoa, so you mean that there are people right now who can fly CSs without those leadership/link skills? damn... That will technically still be the case. You never need any lower-tiered prerequisites to actually fly or equip anything GÇö you only ever need them to train the skills that do let you fly the ship. Like so.
What's being changed is that, before, as long as you had managed to inject a skill, you could train it as much as you liked, no matter what happened to your other skills. This change makes it so that to train a skill at any level (or at any stage towards a level), you have to still fulfil all prerequisites. Granted, you can't really lose prerequisite skill levels any more, so it would be next to impossible to get yourself into that kind of situation without having some skills grandfathered in from some previous skill tree change.
GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

Nat Silverguard wrote:whoa, so you mean that there are people right now who can fly CSs without those leadership/link skills? damn... Yes, because they had already trained into Command Ships using the previous prerequisites.
Under the current system, once you have a skill you can continue to train it, so someone that even had Command Ships at level I on the old skill requirements can continue to train it now.
After next Tuesday, they won't be able to as the prerequisites need to be met.
That is actually a change resulting from another change in the skill queues that is good for all of us.
Where I said above that you can't inject skills you don't have the prerequisites for, that is only now. From next week, you'll be able to inject any skill and even queue them, but they won't train if you don't have the prerequisites trained first.
So currently, if you want to train into a ship, say a Confessor, you need to train Amarr Destroyers to V first and only then can you inject Ammar Tactical Destroyer.
From next week, we'll all be able to inject both skills and then just queue them up in order so as soon as Destroyer V is trained, you'll immediately start on the Tac Dessie skill.
While that's overall great, it means that skills like Command Destroyers can't be trained further because the server will check that the prerequisites are met, where currently it doesn't do that if it's already partly trained.
