If not now, will those things be annouced, negativly or postivly, in FanFest 2016 ? The honest answer is that right now I don't know for the first two questions and the third is that there'll be more answers coming at Fanfest. The problem with Dusts original development the link was worked on first before things like hit detection, balance, gunplay etc were iterated upon. You know, the stuff that actually needs to work very well in a twitch based FPS, console or not. It's my feeling that CCP Rattati and the rest of the team wants to make a working FPS before making a link work Having been with Dust since the earliest beta I'd say your half right. Dust often had a lot of technical problems on the FPS mechanics side. However it was the link with Eve which made Dust special in the first place. There are several very simple things the new game can do to take advantage of that without requiring some massive technical burden. Utilizing the Eve manufacturing/economy base for one. Secondly make the fights asymmetrical and IN the Eve Universe. Easiest way to achieve this would seem to be space based environments (Small stations, and FW outposts) and move from there. Personally I like the idea of maybe going third person over the shoulder. Lets you get put a system in to "take cover" and the lore supports it pretty easily with camera drones. At any rate the connection is what makes the game have potential, without it I can just go play whatever the newest FPS is.
All of these things! Unless making a 'good working' FPS first and adding the link later is easier... but yeah, the game link is what made DUST514 special, otherwise it's basically just another FPS shooter. If we could have the games work anything like the vision we saw in the videos, that would be fantastic... things like really valuable planetary infrastructure worth fighting a major battle over, with space support being a really valuable asset, and possibly control of ground defenses being able to interact with and affecting the battle in space (seriously, having a laser cannon assault a capital ship or a cluster of anti-ship missiles coming from the planet... so possible, so cool!) .... that's why we bought in to the idea in the first place, because having these possibilities is just so cool! SO, I hope that will still be a focus area for DUST's replacement... that said, there really should be some sort of planetside infrastructure that is really valuable in EVE that can serve as future battlegrounds for the mercs. DO IT.
Drones. Drones are a means to an end. An end to the ruthless Caldari 'progress' machines. An end to the barbaric 'redemption' proposed by the Amarr. What they see as chaos shall be my perfect order, merely beyond their comprehension.
