Servers of EVE:
- Tranquility (Live,TQ): This server is the 'real' world of EVE. All players use this server
- Entropy (Test): This server is currently offline.
- Chaos (Development): Chaos is used to test code changes of the Shiva branch. In general it runs a newer build then Singularity.
- Singularity: This server is now public. It runs the Exodus debugging patches. Currently player accounts and ISD have access to this server.

COMBAT TESTING ON THE SINGULARITY SERVER
The purpose of SiSi is to provide people with an environment on a similar structure to the TQ main player server. There are Simple rules relating to combat and they must be observed:
Combat is by mutual consent only. Since the main purpose of the server is testing, attacking people who may be attempting to test something specific, trying to reproduce a bug or merely minding their own business is not allowed.
Absolutely no pod killing without mutual consent. Although SiSi is updated with new character data from Tranquility, being pod killed may result in the inability for someone to continue testing effectively.

Customer support on Singularity
Access to the Singularity server is a bonus and as such CCP does not extend customer support for the test server. The game masters are only dealing with petitions filed on, and related to, the Tranquillity server. Please do not file petitions on Singularity as they will not be dealt with.
There are several threads you can post in for specific issues, such as account reactivation or loss of skill points through podding (they are linked in the first post of this thread). However, please note that CCP is not obligated to offer support in these cases and we will help you within the limits of our available *free* time.
For other issues, such as reporting test server rule breaks, please contact a bug hunter and they will pass on the information to us. Try not to EVE-mail the devs directly or create new threads in the Game Development forums unless there is a serious issue that prevents players from efficiently testing the game features (uber-pimp ship setups are not considered "game features").
Thank you for your understanding.

How to connect to Singularity
We have made a few adjustments to the login screen and removed the server drop down box.
To be able to connect to singularity you have to create a shortcut from the eve.exe file and add this to the target input in the shortcut : /server:87.237.38.50
This would then look something like this(different between client locations) :
"C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\client\eve.exe" /server:87.237.38.50
Here is a screenshot of the shortcut properties window:

Hope that explains it well enough. ____________________________ I break things.

Singularity Mirrors
This is a FAQ thread to explain what, why, how and when of Singularity mirrors.
General information:
Q: What is a mirror? A: A mirror is a copy of the database that is running on the Tranquility server. It includes account and character information, such as skills, assets, implants etc, as well as any other database information, such as contracts, starbases, outposts etc.
Q: What is it good for? A: A mirror is used by both CCP's QA department and EVE players to conduct testing in an environment as close to the live environment as possible. This means that alterations to the mirror are kept to a minimum.
Q: When is a new mirror deployed on Singularity? A: When the testing cycle requires a clean dataqbase copy. This usually happens prior to the release of patches and expansions, so that testers and players can run tests in an environment closest to what the live server would look like after the patch release. Another case when a fresh mirror is required is when major gameplay changes need to be playtested by a large number of users.
Q: How is a mirror made? A: First, a copy of the Tranquility database is made by CCP's Operations department. This copy is then moved on the Singularity network, where QA Deployment will start customizing it for use on the test server (see below). The copying operation takes about 7 hours.
Q: How is a mirror on Singularity different from TQ? A: The main differences are that all starbases are removed and moon mineral resources are scrambled, to prevent scouting on the test server of assets on the live server. Other differences and modifications are listed below:
* ETC accounts are edited so that they do not expire when the ETC payment runs out. * All accounts are voice enabled. * Agent memory is removed (standings and loyalty points). * S&I jobs are removed (this is done in order to prevent starbase S&I jobs from being stuck when starbases are removed). * The market is seeded so that all market items cost 100 ISK and are in plentiful supply. At least one station per constellation is market seeded like this. * Other adjustments for our internal use.
This process can take at least half a day. The whole mirroring process can take up to 2 days.

Account management and billing:
Q: If I do something on Singularity will that affect my TQ character/account? A: No. From the moment the database copy is made, the Singularity and the TQ databases are completely separated and will not influence each other.
Q: Can I train a different skill on Singularity than on TQ? A: Yes, definitely. The two databases are separated, so your character can develop a different set of skills on the test server. However, keep in mind that any progression on the test server will be reset with the next mirror.
Q: My account is active on TQ, but on Singularity is disabled. What do I do? A: The most likely scenario is that you created or reactivated your account after the date on which the database copy was taken. For the first case, you will need to wait for the next mirror to be deployed on Singularity. For the second case, you can post here.
Q: I want to change my password on Singularity, how do I do that? A: You cannot change your password on Singularity, the most you can do is contact me and ask me to change it for you. The account management and billing systems are connected to the TQ database ONLY, so any changes in the account management section of the EVE Online website will only affect your Tranquility account. Please note that your password will only be changed if you cannot otherwise log in into your account (see below).
I reset my password on Tranquility and it doesn't work on Singularity, what do I do? A: If you can still remember your old password, try logging in on Singularity with that. If you can't remember your old password, contact me on IRC and I will change your password. More details in this thread.
Q: I bought a character on TQ, but it doesn't appear on my account on Singularity. What happened? A: The character was most likely transfered between accounts after the current database copy was made. You will have to wait for the next mirror to be deployed on Singularity.
Q: Do I have to pay to log in onto Singularity? A: No, as long as you have an active account on Tranquility; the test server is a free service, but please keep in mind that it may not be available at all times. The server will go down for daily downtimes, code updates and it may also be unavailable if closed in-house testing is being conducted by QA. |
