So with skill injectors being a thing, do we now have a hard price for SP?
If it costs 650 mil odd ISK to purchase 500k SP does that mean for example a 5mil SP character (10 injectors giving 500k SP ea) is worth 6.5 bil ISK?
With diminishing returns coming into play, higher SP characters become more valuable at certain SP thresholds. A 100mil SP character would take 355 injectors (if starting from 0 sp). That's 230.75 bil ISK.
A 200mil SP character would require 1,022 injectors with diminishing returns taken into consideration. That's 664.3 billion ISK.
That's a price for just SP, if you add on to that the cost of the skill books themselves which can get pretty costly in the higher SP range, you are looking at a bigger sum.
So are we going to start seeing more expensive characters in the character bazaar?

We've been trading the extractor and injector markets pretty heavily since they were launched. A good indicator of SP value, I think, is the difference between the average price of an injector and the average price of an extractor, representing 500,000 skillpoints.
Based on Forge data, over the first 9 days of trading, that difference opened at 348 million ISK, ran down to 323 million a few days ago, and has begun to move back up in the last couple of days to around 340 million or so.
From there, discount or mark up the value accordingly to account for the cost, time and effort associated with getting the SP in or out of a character, or growing them organically within the character. Remember also that market supply and demand will tend to sway actual prices, sometimes substantially, from theoretical cost + reasonable profit values. |

Good points Dr. C
I thought about the price of extractors too but thought that it was a moot point as whoever is interested in buying injectors, won't be concerned for the price of extraction. All they need to know is that spending 650mil ISK (or thereabouts) will give them 500k SP to inject anywhere they see fit.
In regards to the Bazaar I could see more of a demand for characters now more than ever, if only to extract their SP. The supply of SP is high at the moment, people are most likely activating old accounts to strip them of their SP, others may just be satisfied removing their unused skills but that can really only happen once per character. (unless they make a lot of mistakes in the future) It'd be interesting to see figures of the total amount of SP destroyed so far as a result of diminishing returns. Going from about 80 mil SP (where you begin to lose 350k SP through each injection) to 300 mil SP would take about 1,465 injectors. SP lost due to diminishing returns would equal somewhere to about 513 million SP. Which is a crazy amount. Not even yourself had that amount of SP to burn and how long until we don't have the supply to burn through that amount of SP anymore? Most likely there are people farming SP on alts with the intent on extracting their SP, but that still takes a long time as first they will need to surpass 5.5mil SP then farm to a point where they want to extract. |

Demand of this nature should be very strong, at least at opening bid levels. The raw value of SP (injector price - extractor price) should help establish a "floor" for character valuation, but I'd bet that few characters sell for prices that low. "Stripped" characters are starting to show up in the bazaar with 5mm SP and varying collections of empty books. Interest in these characters seems pretty strong. Floor values for characters should migrate toward raw value of extractable SP plus expected proceeds from the resale of the stripped toon.

Indeed, it's a bit early to try to draw conclusions on valuation until the flurry of activity settles and stabilizes. Hopefully, CCP will share some of the statistical info once they've had a few weeks to collect and digest the data.

This is where it gets real interesting... how will this play out in the long run? Longer-term demand for SP, PLEX-Extractor-Aurum-ISK interrelationships, the relative ease and or desire to be in the SP farming business, etc. all remain to be seen but make for some very compelling speculation!

As a side not, there will never be a 'definitive price' for skillpoints, the price will always go up an down, pretty much like plexes |

Defining a price while there is an Aurum sale and people are still coming back to the game to strip characters won't happen. It will also be determined by how many people have SP farm alts, how many people want the SP to make a new focused alt at that specific time, and how much gets wasted requiring higher SP characters to buy more to finish a skill.
I don't think we have seen the top of the scale yet to be honest but, only time will tell to be fair. |

Currently you can get a month's worth of SP for only 10 EUR . If you buy bigger packages or from another gamecode source you may even pay less. |
