Minmatar carriers n motherships suffer from being.. scrapmetal...
They got to little cap n no resistacne bonus so cant tank. They got to little cap so cant really utilize their bonus in shield n armour transfare duration... They simply have no offencive bonus so are only prefarable for rechargin pos shileds in peace time.
Anyway Fighters in general are good against larger ships.. suffer from being slow and not tracking very well.
What about giving the minmatar carrier and mothership a bonus to fighter speed and tracking (big eonugh to make it balanced and worthwhile)?
I certainly would enjoy that bonus and maby get a minmatar carrier even I allredy fly the caldari one

What's with all this 'Minmatar carrier has bad cap' stuff? It's got a base cap/sec of 14.41, the same as the Archon, which apparently has 'amazing cap'. Granted, it's got less total cap than the Archon, but then, the Archon takes longer to recharge, too. And with capships cap/second is more important than total cap anyway.
Granted, the bonus sucks horribly and should be changed to something better, but what's with this bad cap myth?

Say I am able to run my shield booster for 45 mins 9,3% difference would count for 5 minutes. When tanking the difference is big eonugh for me to prefare the caldari carrier for tanking even if the caldari carrier had its shield resistance bonus removed. Further in effect the caldari carrier could convert more cap into pos shield in the same time by simply adding another mod because it got more cap. Then compair it to the other carriers as well and minmatar will land on the bottom even if the other carriers have their bonus removed. The cap probably isnt significant for you but its big eonugh to be significant to me. Still the problem is that the minnie carrier have a useless bonus and I dont want to discuss this fact further.
But what do you think of fighter speed and tracking bonus?
A mate told me the best bonus to the minmatar carrier would be +5% refining yield on carrier and -10% gallente carrier training time.

My vote for best new bonus on the nidhoggur goes to the good old 3% bonus to effectiveness of skirmish warfare link modules.

if minny carriers got a bonus to fighter tracking I might stop training gallente carrier and switch over, but then again I think the minny one is the coolest looking carrier so it has that going for it in my book

Boosting both speed and tracking is counter-effective.
I'd like to see the Minnie carrier lose the cycle speed bonus in favour for a cap reduction per cycle on the remote repairers and shield transporters. That actually gives them the ability to do remote repairing without killing themselves.

Minmatar carriers have the same regen as the others,just less total cap.
As for a bonus i think they should get a 5%-10% bonus to jump range per lvl,this blends in with their guerrila war tactics mentality. __________________________________________ Yes it is great being amarr. |

From what i've heard, Minnie carriers make the best frontline carriers, provided there are 2 or 3 of them, since they can remote rep each other more effectively, making their tanks as a group stronger. However, carriers often just sit in a POS making this group tanking bonus a bit crappy. But still, i think it has potential in an organised group.

I think it should be more offensive in nature, like the tracking and bonus mod. To be honest, I will train minmatar cap ships because I like the way they look. If I were a powergamer, or serious about getting my bag for buck ratio high - I would not touch it.
That said - why do the minmatar get shafted so oftain?

Simply because you will place your cyno field in distances for the other carriers and the range advantage is wasted.
So its a not very useful bonus again and needs to be 10% per lvl to make it viable in the least.
More globally usefull are the ideas of fighter tracking and cap reduction for shield/armor transfer mods but here also 10%/lvl is in order to make it viable, maybe even 15% for the cap use.
How about 7,5% per level capital shield booster boost amount per lvl? Makes it less viable to armortank the Nid tho, which quite a lot people do but on the other hand would make for a semi decent tank on the thing.
The lower total cap is another issue, I agree. On minmatar gunboats its ok, since our weapons dont use cap but on a carrier there is no justification for this other then wanting to gimp it. Peak recharge is the same, ok, but less cap means less cap and is a disadvantage nonetheless.
Last idea: Keep the crappy bonus and crappy cap volume and give it another low to compensate this.

Reason I`d want the minmatar carrier to get tracking and speed to fighters is that it would get its support role. Galelnte carrier would still be the king of dps and you`d need caldari amarr carriers in the fleet to get tanking abillitie (remote repping the weaker ones when not being primary) And minmatar would be **** in all aspects but still you`d want t have at least one with you into a fight to kill of smaller ships. I personally would have called the minmatar carrier primary then the gallente then the caldari or amarr. I think this would be true to the minmatar philosophy, absolute crap and paper thin but still kickass in some weird way...

Everybody has opinions on what bonus he would prefer (I know soraya would just lub to have a mining yield bonus on his carier)
The point is: One off the bonusses HAVE to be changed, minmatar cariers are worse then the rest and that is quite unfair since you need to train the same skills for them
so i sign this proposal

As it stands it's useless.
The remote rep/boost bonuses suggest you take this to the front line.
And yet it has the least cap and least ability to withstand fire. Hence being **** on the front line.
I say the bonus should be:
+7.5% total cap per level +2.5% armour resistance to all damage types per level
So it STILL does the least damage, and yet is able to provide the support it's been given. |

why chat crap about this ship... minmatar ships are for hardcore players only... note the HARDCORE they ain't no ***** ship, they are held together by sticky tape if that.... god knows what keeps them together anyway back on track.. minmatar isn't for the faint hearted like amarr who just tank , minmatar is for the fight where u kill your opponent and only have 1% hull left. Thus stop moaning about it and live with it!

It only needs the timer bonus made to a cap bonus for the remote reps and the carrier will be fine will be able to heal. !

There's a fundamental flaw there tho.
Let's say CCP changed the cap recharge rate or something, so that the carrier could in fact provide remote support in-close without it's cap disappearing.
The carrier itself is still the weakest of the lot and easier to destroy.
The role just doesn't work without the ship being able to sustain heavy, heavy fire. Otherwise it simply can't live on the frontlines.
Thanatos - Great tank, and its bonuses work from a distance. Archon - Great tank due to resistance bonuses Chimera - Great tank due to resistance bonuses
Nidhoggur - Can't tank and can't perform its role. |

this sounds interesting...anyone here who tried this on test server with a mob of mates shooting em ? we all saw that ascn was able to outtank any dmg by using lots of logistic drones and heavy logistic repair support in the 2nd alliance tourney. is this method anything comparable ?

Well that method is good as long as the gang members have cap and tank hence the caldari and amarr carrier are nice for that. and they can support a thanathos to get more dps into the team.
however there is no point in bringing the minmatar carrier in becasue its bonus is useless. The duration thingie doesnt mean much as it has no cap to sustain it properly and cant tank to protect itself either.
Minmatar is the oposite of best front line carrier. (and I havent heard it, I fly carriers and I`ve done the math :P just see if u can understand the secound post I made in this thread)
