In playing EVE, I can't help but feel like there is something missing from this vast space.
Alien races...Greys, Reptillians, etc
Alien NPC races with a story to tell, new technologies/skills to learn from. Reverse Engineering skills, etc.
A story line full of adventure.
Maybe two Alien Races, one trying to help the people, one tying to take them out. You pick a side in the story and off you go.
There is so much that could be done with this and I for one would find it very interesting.
Add new Exploration anomalies to find that help/hurt against the different factions.
I would LOVE to dive into something like this.
Any talk of anything like this?
What would you think if CCP implemented such a story line? What would make it great for you?

Introducing aliens a la Star Trek or Babylon 5 just devolves everything into an "us or them" plotline... which has been seriously overdone. Right now there is no "side" to really choose from except the one you make for yourself.
Although... if you are a little more flexible in how you define "alien" you could describe Jovians, Sleepers, and Rogue Drones as "alien." Jovians are humans that have performed so much genetic engineering on themselves over the past few millennia that they are similar to "normal" humans only in form. Sleepers are AIs of unknown origin that harvest capsuleer corpses to build physical bodies for themselves. Rogue Drones are experiments that the Gallente lost control of. They are now a self replicating and evolving menace across New Eden.
How did you Veterans start?

Aliens? Alien from what...or to what? You're the alien in these regions, bud. The indigenous wildlife calls you "The Elephant" 'cause they can hear you coming from 20 light years away, thus giving them ample time to HIDE from you.

I think the introduction of a downright alien race might be demeaning to the EVE storyline as it stands today. But I do agree that it is somewhat weird that no alien species (aside from the Fedo's apparently) have been found or mentioned on the thousands of planets the collective empires inhabit. In fact, we know very very little about natural flora and fauna on any plant at all. It would be nice to include that sort of stuff in the lore in the future.

Other humans dont suffice as aliens? We can be so different it almost looks like a joke that we try to find other beings in space.

It was stated years ago that this is a universe with no beings that we'd consider aliens.

I think the most interesting "Aliens" would be humanity from Earth, that would be frightening as hell, considering the tech they had when the EVE gate collapsed so many thousands of years ago, is still much much more powerful that what exists in EVE. |

Well as for adding any of the numerous plot twists like other races may be a bit to much to soon. However I'm not at odds with the Idea of more UFO like activity perhaps. Aliens or Inter dimensional beings if you would doing random things just beyond our ability to track or see them. Would make Archaeology sites even more interesting. It's possible the idea is on a list somewhere as a maybe.

If there ever comes a point where EVE is going to have to close its doors for whatever reason, the re connection with Earth should be the final concluding story arc before the servers are shut down. Be it an invasion, all out war, friendly reunion, I don't care, but it would bring things full circle so I hope they save that story arc for the very end.

Right now you're a consciousness using a carbon based replicator as a generator and support for the very weak electrical field mistakenly referred to as 'you'. The aim is to end up using energy fields stacked in harmonic waves so that we can become beings of light without all this biological shenanigans. Any other organic beings would be boringly derived from TV and movies you've already seen or so abstract as to be unable to hold the attention of any large group. People don't really have much imagination. So terrans would be as far beyond us as we are from germs. Our alliances behave like predatory jellyfish. Morally and ethically, we haven't moved very far from the primordial slime. I'd support the introduction of 'aliens' if they weren't either straight ripped from Lovecraft, TV and movies already done and if they weren't just more red icons to shoot n loot.

Sometimes a space sci-fi is just better off without throwing aliens into the mix too, that way you can use it to explore humanity, as humanity explores the vast unknown. Take Red Dwarf for example, great sci-fi comedy, and not a single alien was ever encountered. The closest thing to aliens in that show were genetically modified humans and experiments gone wrong.

Aliens would make this game really whimsical. I love the RL coralation, and the fact that it has a feeling of "maybe someday".
If I wanted aliens I would play any number of other games where aliens are a focal point(even playable). |

Considering that competition and selfishness lead to extinction, if Humanity still was alive on Earth in the New Eden timeframe they certainly would be a very different beast than we are now...

Why exactly? The same amount of time has passed for the same species and the humans in New Eden haven't changed all that much in the thousands of years since Earth was cut off. The only thing they will have is insane technological advancement compared to us, if they haven't killed each other already.

The only thing they will have is insane technological advancement compared to us, if they haven't killed each other already.
The human in New Eden were returned to a pre-space flight technological era, and in many cases, they where destroyed when their environments crumbled by technical failures. New Eden was set back thousands of years technologically and also socially.
So it's not just that Humanity on Earth continued their technological advancement, but they also should evolve in other ways. Even in the limited confines of New Eden, some races managed to evolve until extinction -where are the Talocans? And what's left of the Jovian now?
New Eden is slowly moving into transhumanism, with capsuleers spearheading that evolution. But maybe Earth moved in a different direction.
At one point, technological races with a biological foundation need to choose -do they become purely technological? Do they become purely biological? Do they expand to delay the transition? What if they run out of space to expand since the outwards pressure of population moves faster than interstellar travel?
Only one thing is certain. In a crisis, the line between life and death depends on how much effort is wasted being "the" winner compared to ensuring survival of the collective. Over and over again in history, we've seen in the small scale how intestine division destroyed societies under pressure. The fall of Tawantinsuyu against less than 20 Spanish soldiers is an extreme case of such destruction. But also the demise of the norse Greenlanders was facilitated by intestine division and lack of adaptation -norse were such successful sheep growers adn farmers that they dismissed fishing and thus managed to starve and die surrounded by some of the world's richest fishing waters. No to mention that the only thing they had to write about native Greenlanders was "they bleed for a long while"...

The closest thing we have or need to an alien presence are sentient AIs and the remnants of earlier civilizations. Adding in other sentient species, while maybe interesting, would cheapen the Eve universe thematically.

But its only Wiki, and sapience is used also to describe human level inteligence.
