Hey.
Today in our wormhole and saw a "Caldari Advanced Cruiser Wreck" and thought great it might have good loot and salvage. After scanning down all the sites and using the d-scan I discovered it's somewhere in empty space... I'm guessing they lost their ship and the site de-spawned.
There is some older information in the forums saying there is no way to probe wrecks. Is this still the case, and would that be addressed if so?
Thanks. |

You still can't probe wrecks. If the ship had drones out when it died you can scan down those. |

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll just make sure I hold onto some bookmarks for a while longer, just in case. Hopefully CCP decides this would be something cool to have. |

Wrecks have never been probable and personally I would say that they never will be and should not be.
You can still get to them though with some clever warping. Wingspan did a video about finding cans a while ago and it is easier now with the larger grids, but it takes time. |

They disappear in a few hours. I doubt that change will be implemented today, indeed as you posted this last night the wreck has already gone.
As has already been stated, your only chance of finding one is if drones, an mtu or a mobile depot are nearby. Alternatively you can make a succession of closer bookmarks as per the mentioned video and bore yourself stupid for a few hours, though changes to grid sizes do make this method more viable.

^^ 2 hours from creation is the official time, I've seen them last 2 hrs 15min but never longer.

"Caldari Advanced Cruiser Wreck" means it was a Tengu. Now that could have indeed dropped some nice loot. But if it was killed by another player, you can bet all the blingy loot was scooped. If it was killed by rats, the owner would have almost certainly returned to grab anything blingy that survived especially if the site has despawned. Remember rats don't kill pods, so he could have remained in the site to bookmark the wreak if that was how he died.
'Advanced' in the wreak name means they were a T3 Dessie or Cruiser and they only provide regular T1 salvage. For salvage you want to be looking for the word 'Elite' in the wreak name which means they will drop T2 salvage, although even that is barely worth the effort nowadays. Once the T2 Armor plates were worth 30M, but now they are closer to 4M largely down to increased availability through Relic sites and generally more people flying and losing T2 ships.
As others have said, wreaks only last around 2 hours and it would have gone by now and taken any loot and salvage with it.
