Not only is there a proxy error but beneath that the game also states that the current build is not compatible. So either they forgot to roll out a hotfix to the launcher/players or something else is broken.

I think that's the problem there, moving the servers to an extra-solar facility might make connections difficult....

Well, time to remove the jump fatigue. I don't mind keeping the range short, but remove the fatigue.

I planned my jumps today to finish before DT with 5hrs of fatigue, so when I get back to the game in the evening, I will have no fatigue.

Now I probably finish with 1 day of fatigue before the evening start, and then I am limited to do non PVP related stuff cause I cannot jump anymore.

Seriously CCP, none of you should take up positions that can potentially puts other at risk judging from your lack of communication, especially with non-existing late announcement.

Tuesday, March 1st, 2016, 9:30 UTC:

The new launcher shows Tranquility, online, 17049 Players.
At this time TQ was already down for about 15 minutes, yet still the new launcher doesn't represent that status.

Tuesday, March 1st, 2016, 9:45 UTC:

Oh, the new launcher finally got the message that TQ obviously is down. It now says:
Tranquility, unknown, 17049 Players.

While the first message ist plain wrong and leads to fruitless attempts to start Eve, the second one merely is idiotic ... status unknown and player count > 0 ... now how does that work ?.

So many rookie mistakes by CCP and hey, it's not even legacy code ... it's brandnew !

All you people constantly complaining... that makes me so sick. CCP is trying to move the whole EVE backend to a new server cluster and something like that isnt easy to accomplish without much downtime. Of course unforeseen problems can arise and with this thread and their twitter feed they do their best keep us informed about whats goin on. They announced that server relocation like a hundred times in the past and you all knew its goin to happen... no one said u have to plan your largest fleet operations exactly within that time frame.

Pls just calm down... let them do their job and soon you will get your stable tranquility back... :)

I'm no network engineer so this might be silly but could they not get the new servers set up and running before moving the live version of TQ over to them? As in get everything set up as a mirrored version of the old TQ and when it's ready switch the IP-address the launcher points to.

A case for more AoE in EvE

Not to complain, but... CCP could do their tests more throughly and make the DT longer if needed. The current server on/off sequence is a bit annoying...

I am sure they already did that, but as you might have noticed tranquility is always running fine for a few hours before it gets unstable. So the problem is related to the larger number of players actively doing their every day business. Although mass test events on test servers can trigger some of those possible problems it for sure won't be all of them. On test servers people just hang around for 1 or 2h... not half a day... the amount of players is still smaller and also they are primarily shooting each other and aren't market trading, mining, hauling, ratting or whatever else could trigger some bugz.

I am a network and cloud engineer and i can tell you that no migration ever is smooth and without problems, no matter how long you plan it, some things will pop up and they will be science fiction even for professionals, some time until they understand what is the cause.

At this level of SLA (Service Level Agreement), CCP cannot just put the server stable for a few hours and leave it like this, as the peak player count in the past was 35k + players online . The service must be flawless anytime with any numbers of players online.

I am not sure on what platform the server runs, i believe is M$ Windows as the forums and everything else have ASPX scripts, but it is my professional experience that tells me that windows based server applications don't work well. Move to Linux/BSD.

I also believe that EVE server should be recoded in such way that can be spread on geographical clusters just like Akamai CDN so the load can be balanced over continents.

So, stop whining and wait for the guys to stabilize the new system.

Right now i am frustrated because i want to buy some AUR and the online store is down :D

Super!

It is a while since I have seen my favourite thread discussion.

If only CCP would do what I think they should do and move to (insert solution here) all their problems would be solved. Smile

If CCP uses Windows (which they do, I think) they should move to Linux, and if they were to use Linux, they should move to Windows, or whatever is my personal favourite.

This is not a signature.

Since the topic is UNSCHEDULED DOWNTIME I am assuming this is not something that was planned. I am sure the team at CCP is very competent and are facing a tough issue right now. The fact for me and many other players is that we paid about $50 to be able to play the game for six months. I don't always have time to play Eve but when I do have time I WOULD like to be able to play the game. I am sure I speak for many of the tens of thousands of players when I say that how this is resolved will determine whether or not we continue to have interest in Eve and our accounts are renewed. I am a gamer and since the downtime I have been gaming elsewhere, though not by choice.

Conclusion: Thread with excellent combination of tears and salt. Would read again! 8/10
