Dysprosium has spiked by more 50% over the last few days. Any idea why? I mean it consistently hovered around 10k for the past 6 months+ and now Jita price is suddenly 16.4k per unit.
If this is more than short term market manipulation, it is going to be leaving a mark... So T2 component producers:
Dysprosium is used in Ferrofluid and Dysporite, so this will also mean that Hypersynaptic Fibers and Ferrogel (which contain those intermediates) will be spiking in the very near future. I already bought a good stockpile of both for T2 manufacturing but those Jita stocks won't last long if Dysprosium prices stay up. Fermionic Condensates also use Dysprosium, but it is already fairly high in price and profitable even at current Dyspro price levels.
So, TLDR: Dysprosium spiked for no apparent reason, will cause Hypersynaptic Fibers and Ferrogel spike very soon. |

It's just the opposite: if Dyspo spikes for no reason, then there are no market forces supporting the prices and it will soon crash back to equilibrium.
I'm guessing it's simply market manipulation because of the amount of volume traded right before the spike. I also noticed that someone bought up all of what little dyspro was on the Amarr market and relisted a nice even number for an inflated price. We'll see what the weekend brings. |

This is probably a result of the impending tech moon nerf, and rebalance of R64 moon mats in T2 production. Very shortly all the R64 materials will be worth many times their current value. Goonswarm knows this, and is currently stockpiling, using their insider trading knowledge about the future path of the game. |

Clearly an official disinformation campaign since Jita Bloodtear is a well-known goon alt and the goons have no interest in fixing T2. They're obviously bribing their CCP pets to move all roid mining into null sec and using this ploy to distract the otherwise vigilant MD forum.

I remember that a half year ago CCP mentioned they will make some "rebalancing" regarding tech, but nothing specific is said so far. Rebalancing could mean a more "fair" distribution of tech moons and no changes at tech related reactions. As long no specifics are released speculation makes no sense imo.
The last major patch didn't change anything regarding that matter and the next one will come within the next half year. Their's no reason to hurry...

oooohhhhhhh whats all this then?reading between the lines t2bpoo all over again? or just another csm that needs a kick in the nuts and booting off the panel?
csm should be like signing an NDA for alpha/betas and if you cant handle it don't take up the post.

Heh, you also have to remember that CCP isn't really going to start gossiping about the next expansion until the Fanfest in late March. Sure, if cheaper moon goo happens then snap it up, but otherwise, your isk is probably better spent elsewhere till we get close to having real info released. I'd say that moon goo would be an interesting pre-Fanfest buy.
It's also worth noting that CCP might just increase supply a lot (they do tend to make precision adjustments with a 10 kg sledgehammer) in which case, it's not likely that any of the moon goos would go up.

At least an indication would be fine.
Speculation only makes sense if one can be sure to sell that stuff for a higher price to others jumping on the bandwagon later on. I've thought about buying dyspro several times in the past, but didn't find at least a single indication for a price increase in the future.
Nevertheless good luck! |

Looks to me like none of the Dysprosium buy orders have been fulfilled for a few days now, and the sell orders are currently too high to tempt any but the most desperate. Further, the small amounts and micro-management in the sell orders makes me wonder whether they're the speculators and not the cartel - in which case the latter might conceivably be trying their hand at some market manipulation.
A few days doesn't tell us anything really, but if this is what's going on, CCP might finally get a demonstration on why Alchemy can't fulfil the purpose for which it was designed. |

Well, looks like it turned out to be just your average market manipulation attempt that fizzed fairly quickly. The price is still elevated but has come down a lot.

Wasn't me, I don't have ISKies for manipulation like this.
It was more of a heads up for anyone doing trade in the related products to stock up before the price of the stuff made out of Dyspro would also spike (*if* this turned out to be more than a weak manipulation attempt).
It wasn't anything special so life goes on. Hypersynaptic fibers have gone up a bit but otherwise there seems to be no reaction for this (except that some reaction tower runners probably got burned if they bought Dyspro at 14k+)
