Why is there no comments link embedded in this eve online news announcement, or even a forum thread in EVE Forums -+ EVE Information Center -+ EVE Information Portal ?
source: http://community.eveonline.com/news/news-channels/eve-online-news/citadels-science-servers-and-downtimes-a-new-video-blog-from-ccp-seagull/
Are we Customers only to comment on 3rd party websites, like Youtube and Reddit to provide a(ny) feedback to the Company

Hi Freelancer,
Basically this is not unusual for users not just in Eve, but in other online gaming communities as well Because social media has taken over a lot of aspects in our daily lives, many time companies will do this because they think it's more engaging to "talk" to the customers this way.
Another observation is that within the past 18 months elsewhere I noticed the quality and responses by customer service reps, game masters have gone to using social media instead of official forums went pretty much down hill into oblivion. Needles to say there were shots fired.
What we are beginning to see here now is the same thing happening here, branching out if you were to other sites such as Reddit, Facebook, Twitter and the poor official forums are left to die from lack of use.
So blame social media for creating more problems than answers. |

One day this will backfire on the Company, when they insist on using 3rd party services instead of their own. There is even the possibility of creating an echo chamber environment were CCP Games is deaf and blind to other feedback. source: http://www.ninveah.com/2015/11/echo-chamber.html

ps: on a side note if CCP has not fully implemented the new Capitel ship rebalance at Fanfest, there will be a shitestorm imho

Tbh. why should you be able to comment on this? It is CCP Seagull making an update on upcomming things. Each of these features have their own threads in the appropriate forums, were you can go and discuss them.

Keep your Reddit, Facebook, Twitter and whatever other namby pamby replacement you people have to "interact" with one another and garner your collections of LIKES. When I pay for something, I expect to get it.

This is not an uncommon issue in business but Programming is utterly plagued by it.
The issue is: Where do you put your documentation, how to use the software.
Technologies have changed over time. Like most companies, CCP has let their documentation fall behind their coding front, it's always playing catch up. Your customer doesn't know how to use all the various technologies so keeping only 'one' way will always alienate some percentage of your customer base.
The simple truth is, there is no silver bullet here. There are choices and CCP has made one. They looked at their outdated offering and have decided to keep some of the information and put it in new places. The other parts they are letting the customer base develop as they see fit and are giving us the tools to develop the interfaces we chose to offer or support and use.
By not having an immediate replacement, CCP is leaving a void and this is probably a poor decision from the customer perspective but it made sense to them so we'll just have to survive it.
I see this as a potential opportunity to show CCP how it could be done and be effective. If developed well enough, CCP could buy it and incorporate it or allow it to be monetized in other ways.

While I respect your opinion to a degree,I think it's YOU that needs to open your mind to the very fact that yes, social media is playing a bigger part of the picture in the wider scheme of things. I am merely pointing out the basic truth and facts, no need to jump on my skin.

I don't use social media and refuse to trawl though cesspits such as reddit to give feedback or find out information on eve. If CCP want feedback then they should post it on the forums, after all they are getting feedback only from paying subscribers this way.
It annoys me that devs post things on reddit without even linking to it here in the official forums.

Reddit has about the worst user interface I've ever seen. I can't stand it for that reason. I didn't like Wiki, but Reddit makes Wiki look like a Porsche.
I actually think that Reddit folks like the site because it's a PITA to use.

In the limited time I get to play eve I don't want to have to waste time trawling through multiple 3rd party sites with terrible interfaces and have to sift through nonsense from people who do not even subscribe to eve just to get up to date on what is happening with the game.

Open my mind? LOL! You have whatever habit you choose. I'm so glad you feel like you're in a "group". Maybe you should take a look at the studies dealing with people using "social media" and isolation. Sorry to pee on your parade, really.

It annoys me that devs post things on reddit without even linking to it here in the official forums. Agreed. CCP devs should announce things and give info to do with EvE in CCP's own EvE forums first. If then they want to link that info other places, fine, but the links should be to the official (and controlled by CCP) forums and not the other way.
