Hello everyone!
I just wanna start a little blog about a new project ive started, called Project Winmatar..
This project is mainly about me flying minmatar ships on a brand new toon, going straight into pvp in lowsec.
So who am I? Well im basicly a new player - Ive played for a few weeks on another char doing explorations and some mining and decided I wanted to try and get into a pvp from scratch and make a blog about it and hopefully also some videos when I can get shadowplay to work as I want it to! :o
Some people may ask why minmatar? well im mainly gonna fly small ships frigates and destroyers, and I was looking for what kind of ships I could get into rather easily, and both the slasher and rifter came up, even tho alot of people might only take em as medicore ships, they will give me fights. Then there are the Republic fleet firetail, which looks like an amazing frigate, and there are the Thrasher when I jump into destroyers.
Anyways I created this char and I started off with flying around to the different Hubs to create some bookmarks for instant dock/undock and while I was going from jita to rens I went through a gate from Rancer to Miroitem and this is where I got my very first pvp action, however no deaths was involved, but a svipul and a jackdaw tried to gank me on the gate but they didnt succeed, however that did indeed get my adrenalin pumping!
A good 5 mins later and I was in Rens where im gonna stage out from for the time being, untill I find a better place for the faction warefare in that area.
I took my trusty slasher out and just a few jumps into low sec, I ran into this merlin in a plex - I engaged him but frankly for me, that went down fast for me, however I managed to get out of the fight, just barely holding my structure! I went to repair and went back for round 2! he was still there in the same plex doing the faction warefare thing and we had round 2, however this time the pilot kept range on me and he did get me! - Non the less it was a good fight and he got a gf in local and I was a pvp experience richer!
Back to Rens to pick up another ship (I bought a plex to get this thing going so I had bought 10 ships + fittings I had ready in rens)
Out on a roam again and to my surprise it actually took me almost an hour to find another fight, so many people leaving when someone enter their plex's even tho its on a few hours old char! But I found a tormentor in a novice plex which I engaged and while it was actually a close fight, I died when he had 50% structure left, but to my luck as I died another ship entered and killed him off, so now my killboard was already positive!
Next fight didnt take long to find, however it was a fight I got forced into and I didnt have much of a chance - I warped to a small plex that was way out of my dscan range and found my self ontop of a sentinel, which I fast learned neuted me out in seconds! (no escape to me!) - back to rens again.
So another 30mins later I found a breacher, not knowing all the frigates by heart I took this fight, but he was repping so hard while killing me fast, this breacher pilot actually took alittle time off to talk to me about the fight, and I learned from that, that I proberly never should engage a breacher in a slasher :D Anyways this is where it gets kinda funny, because back in rens to pick up my 5th ship someone convoed me, and talked to me abit and he/she donated a skill injector! (Thanks for that btw!!) so now I had my self 500k more skills points, and I decided to go for some T2 small guns and to get a T2 damage control and suddently I could fly the slasher quite alot better, now I am over 100 dps in it!
I played around with my fittings in PYFA for a bit (damn amazing program btw!) and found my self with a fit that also had a neut and a tracking disruptor - with this new ship and knowledge,I decided to try and just hunt turret based ships and just a few jumps out I found a rifter, a fight I also lost, however that was a very close fight!
I had a few more fights but it was late and I dont recall all of em, i'll post more later when I get the chance to pew more!
So more to come! |

I have to say I mentally groaned when I saw a thread titled Winmatar. Glad to see its not about the alliance with the name!
Good luck with your project. You sound like you already know a fair bit more than your average new player. D-scanning, setting up insta-docks/undocks etc. Whatever though maybe you are a fast learner.
More fighters are always welcome in the warzone.
Also hi Aslon. Min Mil may not actually notice the additional drama if you wanted to show up again.

Star Burstie;
I am glad you want to share your game time with us, the romantic notion of a player willing to just let go and pvp in a slasher has us all interested.
Have you thought about writing for magazenes or doing a blog?
Publishing isn't like it used to be, the net has lowered the barrier. Time was when you needed an agent and a poem in "The New Yorker" to even dream of the kind of audiance you can command here on the chat boards.
I think most of us would be interested in more on the person behind the pod--something autobiographical--are you college educated? a Democrat? do you like endives and have you read "Two Years Before the Mast"?.
I know I speak for many of us when I say we look forward to hearing more about you and your FW adventures.

Hey SeaSaw,
Well I suppose I should tell alittle about my self
Im 31 year old, I have a wife and 2 kids, a son of 4-+ and a little girl of 8 weeks..
Currently I am unemployed and I have more times on my hands then usual which is one of the reasons why I found my way into eve online.
However when I do work, im an educated photographer :)
Ive been playing video games ever since my father got an amstrad back in 1992, and got my own first console back in 1995 I believe it was - I fell in love with my first MMO which was Anarchy Online back in 2001, and Ive been trying many MMOs since then. |

So alittle update from my second day in low sec pvp!
Im almost at 20 loss's now, ive been on and off alot today because of RL.
Non the less I got my first Real solo kill: https://zkillboard.com/kill/52382090/
I also had my first encounter with what people called a "linked?" ship, atleast so the pilot told me after the fight:
https://zkillboard.com/kill/52387847/
My very first faction frigate, which wasnt all that expensive considering I got it from some of my LP ive made - really thought I had a chance against a T1 frigate, but lesson learned about breachers!
I also had a fight against some very interesting frigates and after some reached (after they killed me) I found out that those are some very expensive and limited ships from the alliance tournament? anyways:
https://zkillboard.com/kill/52386088/
And I got on my first battleship kill, now that was fun! Not knowing what a Scorpion was when I warped to the plex, I quickly realised it was alot bigger then my little frigate! but on the field there was 4 other militia people killing it so I went for it!:
https://zkillboard.com/kill/52396144/
And somewhere in between there I had some frustation with with a pilot from an alliance called The Tuskers Co. Me being loosing a fair few ships to those people now, I got annoyed because he was flying in a way there I had no way of not picking the fight and nor and nor could I even hit/return fire, so basicly I was a sitting duck - Not my way of having fun, however I do understand eve is a sandbox pvp mmo.
https://zkillboard.com/kill/52385717/
So all in all, I am slowly starting to learn that I need to pick my fights alot more carefully and I need to learn all the ships by heart, but that comes with experience I guess! |

Don't get too upset at being 'ganked' i.e. being stomped by a older player with sill fit or links and such.
Yes try to pick smarter fights but don't worry too much if you pick the wrong ones. I've seen many pilots get really bitter by ending up too risk averse because they end up over thinking the potential engagement worrying too much about what if they lose! I've often found that those pilots who do the 'ganking' is silly fit ships with links and an alt army are those types.
Just laugh it off and go grab another slasher/rifter (great ships by the way!) and start shooting **** again!

Welcome to Minmil. Not 100% on forum rules now, but think links to kills aren't allowed. You would as previous posters mentioned do way better as a vlog or blog series. Go for the vlog if you're as excited as good ol' Chance Ravine back when he started. |
