With reference to the upcoming changes to player structures, will the huge investment that players have made in terms of BPO purchase, research costs and time be refunded by CCP or will we all be left hanging out to dry with very little to show for it all. Maybe I am wrong and CCP have a reasonable exchange program available. Please note that the market value of a BPO does not take into account it's researched level, indeed it sometimes shows a null value. |

I don't know what the plans are; I don't think they've announced anything specific yet.
I have a feeling, though, that their stance will be "You got how many YEARS of usage and profit out of those BPOs? Your "huge investment" has thus paid off, nothing to reimburse." |

I'm not sure.
But I do know one thing. Whatever they end up doing, you will have a 50% chance of hating it and will build your forum resume with a hundred ranting posts in the ensuing threadnought.

Years of use and profit would be lovely, but in the world of EVE, the full research time can be over 2000 days . little time left for profit, each BPO is a long term investment. |

It pretty much never works that way.
Historically speaking, the BPOs would either be changed to a still-functional analogue (unlikely in this case) or refunded at the NPC price. Research value is lost, however.

If history is any indicator you'll get the market value of the unresearched BPO and nothing more. Just look back to previous instances of BPO removals. This is what they've done in the past so I fully angular thereon do it again.
Their past justification for market value only was, you got value from the research and earned from it.
Basically it's time to start over with the new Citadel BPOs when they get released. On the upside, at least they're converting the Structure Parts BPOs for use with the citadel's so it's not like you're having to start over completely, assuming you own them of course.
If the outpost to citadels transition goes like the industry changes did a while back some people will rage quit and others will leave the outpost/citadel market completely in diffuser over their prefixed loss of asset value, but in the end new arrivals will see opportunity and thrive in the absence of their former competitors. |

1. This should be in Science and Industry.
2. It is not a new topic.
Example: EGGS and pre-existing structures Any idea what will happen to POS blueprints when citadels come? Obsolete Module / BP Reimbursement? |
