Hi, this is an alt-post, sorry, so it's no bragging or so.
I have 2,5 bil. isk in cash, few hundred loyalty points at some agents, assets of around 1 bil. and a ship that is worth around 10 bil. (actually it's fitting is worth so much). I have implants worth around 2 bil. plugged in my head. I play eve around 11 months.
So what would you say: am i rich ? Or does being rich require at least 20 bil in cash ? Am i maybe even quite poor for a 11 months gametime ?

I have been playing since November 2005.
I have about thirty million ISK, approximately 300m-worth of ships, a further 100m-worth of fittings, maybe a further 200m in other assets.
next to me, you are doing incredibly well for yourself. ***

A 10 billion isk ship? First off, what ship (and fittings) is that? And why would you dare to fly that ship?

Hmm, well I'd say that if you are enjoying the game, then you are rich. If you are bored with the game, or don't like it, then you are poor. Of course this is only relevant within the game itself.
Isk has nothing much to do with what you get out of the game, and what you get out of the game is the only reason to play it.
I am sure there are characters only 1 week old with under 1 million isk having as much fun as I am. Can i say because I have more isk my investment in the game is more worthwhile? I don't think so.
Life is a state of mind etc.

Do you actaully play the game with these friends towards a common goal?
Do you actually enjoy playing EVE?

When you answer Yes, Yes, Yes, No I'll consider you rich.

IMO, amassing huge piles of isk just for the sake of it is pointless.
The point of having isk is to lose it having fun in PvP

I wouldn't have war decced and I'm glad that it's an alt. I don't really like the so called empire 'pvpers'. Not that I don't think they should be able to do it. Its when they post how uber they are and how many kills they have on the eweener killboard. When you take a look its all shuttles, frigates and haulers.
But let the warning stand for any others who post here with uber set ups and how they made billions.

My definition of rich is when you find it more profitable to leverage your capital through various methods (trading, production, etc) than straight all-day ratting/mining or the like.
I.e. the point at which it makes more money to be a businessman than to grind.

does your self-esteem seem so low that you have to seek the "richness" approval of the eve community? you say this isnt a bragging post but frankly, it's nothing but.
to entertain your needs of worth i will answer your question.
rich is not just the mere isk we strive to accumulate in game. After all, isk represents nothing more than the means to enjoy ourselves (much like money in real life).
sure with around a networth of around 15 billion (don't know what ship you could possibly own that is worth 10 billion unless you have several faction ships or you're using the ancient worth of some of them ie: 7 billion machariel which i believe BoB sold a long time ago [it was the first i think]) you are considered well off isk wise. I, personally, have been playing for nearly 40 months (3 years and 4 months) yet i've only seen 1 billion isk in my wallet just once. I hold about 3 to 4 billion isk worth of assets which really isnt much. I consider myself rich not because of my abysmally low asset to time played ratio but because i have made over the years what i consider to be some really good friendships. those friendships eventually seeped out of the world of EVE and into other games as well as numerous chats via the various communication programs.
to brielfy summarize my post - sure you're rich if all you care about is the assimilation of isk through what i assume to be the mundane task of wiping out wave after waves of computer controlled drones. But from your post i assume you havent had the true pleasures offered by EVE which is the camaraderie, brotherhood, the bond forged in battle (cliche isnt it?) that one finds when doing more than watching that wallet blink upon the destruction of yet another unimaginative oponent.
feel the need to ask that question? ask in corp chat (provided you're not in a starter corp like a good amount of mission runners). If the corp answers, then yes, you are. if not then eh, at least you can continue to watch that wallet blink.

Are you rich?
The answer is 'NO'.
You dont have a corp or alliance tag in the forums. You picked a name with intense responsibility in RL.
Rich players have tech II bpo's. Rich Players run large Alliances. The rest are just players in this game. Do you have any standings on a killboard. Has your alliance made you important when people come in local. Do they fear you because your Alliance or Corporation. Do you buy stuff cause its going to make a hurt on the enemy? Does it matter if you loose your ship?
When you are rich you know it....... Try some of these things and you might someday become rich.

@ this and similar answers: please, i didn't mean to ask if i made it well in the game. I didn't say anything about friends or achievements, so please stay with your comments on the isk. I also did not mean "rich" in it's other meaning, you know that where people say "you are rich if you think positive" etc, i was only referring to the financial side of the word "rich". So please don't tell me what a loser i am, as you don't know much about me, and again this is an alt post ok ? So much bad emotions in here ...

You have an average amount of isk for a non pvper.
EDIT: Needles to say if you PvP in an Alliance thats not a bad sum. Although it depends which alliance and how often you fight.

Sticking to the pure isk aspect: You have a metric buttload of isk, so yeah.
The only measure of wealth worth considering, though: Can you fly your best ship, get blown up and smile after a good fight without worrying about replacing your things?

Yea, you have tons more isk than I. The question is, did you have fun making that isk? Did you grind lvl IV's? Was that fun for you? I might only have 100m in my wallet right now, but I feel it is worth much more than my buddie's 1 billion isk, because he traded a GTC for 300 million, then made the rest. Its easy to make isk once you have isk, the hard part is making it when you don't. ~~~~~~~~~ Hey Gai. Bak Off Coz Ai Bang Yu Hawd. K Gai? |

That's actually a pretty good measurement and I would agree with it. I probably fit into this category, but I actually stopped messing around with leveraging the various markets. I do in-corp investments and I still rat to keep myself occupied when there isn't much going on. Though it's a low-return (comparatively speaking) activity, I find it preferable to sitting in station or hauling stuff to and fro...heheh.

You are as rich as the amount of spare time you have to spend on eve, the average dedicated mission runner makes a billion a week and a half for playing 2 hours a day, if you play more than you can easily make 15 billion in less than 2 month
if you find that much spare time and you could withstand the sheer boredom of grinding missions every single day, you better be rich.

Aye. I'm pretty noob, but already I see this is clearly the case. Leveraging your capital is non-linear. Grinding is hideously linear :p.

If you made it with level 4 missions, it just illustrates how broken the risk/reward of mission running is.
