In a couple of recent posts, some of you eluded that it's a key advantage to have dedicated factory planets converting from P1 to P2 as part of your set ups.
i've been having my resource planets process my resources to the P2 stage before shifting them to dedicated factory planets.
Am I missing out here? I'll admit my way gives me more of a hands off approach as I find I can burn out from on this one aspect even but I'm wondering if I'm not paying a more hefty penalty for my lack of ambition than I initially thought.
Thoughts Amigos?

Extraction->P2 planets yield much less than extraction - P1 planets then hauling to a P1-P2(-P3?) factory setup.
As you said, Extraction->P2 requires far less *effort*, but the tradeoff is far less yield (those ECUs chew up an amazing amount of powergrid), which in turn means less ISK.
I extract and process to P1 on the one planet, then have either P1-P2 or P1-P3 factory planets. If you set them up right, you only need to haul to factories every ~3-4 days (using the POCO as extra storage space).

It depends on the import & export costs, i.e. if you control the POCO or not, and the market pricing.
In hisec with its abysmal extraction rates, and player tax rates, you may be better-off with an all-in-one setup.

How much time you want to spend hauling is also an important part of the equation. |
