This has been posted in a few places now, by me. I'm going to attempt to amalgamate the information as best I can for the fullest amount of information possible.
Windows 10
When attempting to launch EveLauncher-1018996.exe for a fresh install, with no prior install, I'm met with an error.
The error states "there is no disk in the drive, please insert a disk into drive G"
- The launcher is located in my C drive directory, at C:/users/user/Downloads
- This happens before the launcher ever runs, so there is no option to change the target directory.
- The G drive is SD/mini-MMC/RS(G:) built-in, can't be disabled
Things I've tried:
- Run as admin
- Move launcher location
- Check for CCP folder or previous installation
- Disable antivirus and firewall
- Re-download installer in case of corrupt or faulty file transfer
- Disable G directory
My apologies if I've forgotten anything. Would love some help on this.
EDIT: It has been brought to my attention that my other thread was moved to this forum. I was also informed it might be a good idea to post here. This post was made before I read that the other thread was moved. As such, this is not spam...and this post has more information as opposed to the last one anyway. Just wanted to be clear here. |

"The G drive is SD/mini-MMC/RS(G:) built-in, can't be disabled " in device manager (right click on your start menu icon - and device manager ) disable the storage controller .. ( can enable it later from the same place :)
if that dosent help, download the resource pack https://binaries.eveonline.com/EVEResources.7z ( saves u downloading time afterwards anyway) and put it next to the launcher .. ..
EVElopedia < add this to your sig to show u WANT it back

Please clarify this for me - does it fail to run the installer? Or have you installed and the launcher fails to run?

I would suspect a corrupt download. Try downloading again from https://binaries.eveonline.com/EveLauncher-1018996.exe - the file should be 53,607,448 bytes in size.
If that still doesn't help, disable any anti-virus software you may have and download again.
If that still doesn't help, try downloading on a different computer.

The above looks a little weird because I had to remove all of the opening/closing tags in order to post this code. HTML is seemingly not permitted in forum posts.
My first guess would be some sort of authkey mishap, but I really don't have any idea how your backend code looks. |

Try again, an extra comma made it into the link (stoopid forum software...).

Ha. I didn't notice the comma, and call myself a web designer. I feel like a noob.

Okay, so to satisfy you, I've attempted what you suggested to no avail. However, I would like to direct you to the OP where it was stated I already tried these things, so I was not hopeful.
I'm wondering as to how downloading onto another computer would help me here though. Did you have something in mind for how I could transfer it or something? |

Extract to the same folder as the launcher executable, or simply stuff the zip file in with it? |

I'm wondering as to how downloading onto another computer would help me here though. Did you have something in mind for how I could transfer it or something? Just want to rule out simple things, and have you download from the explicit link I posted here in case the download page was giving you the wrong link for some reason.
If the installer fails to start on your machine it is either because there is something stopping it on your machine, or you get a broken file onto your computer. I know that this download link gives me a valid executable that runs on my machine, but we need to narrow down why this isn't working for you. So, if you have access to a different computer, you can download it there, see if it runs, and then take that file to your computer with the knowledge that the installer does work.
We also run tests on the installer before posting it - it has been tested on a clean install of Windows 10, for example.
Can you think of anything you may have installed that could be preventing it from running? Anything you may have uninstalled or deleted?

I fully understand that, which is why I complied. I used the link you gave me, yes. It was the same file as the one I already had. Up to 5 copies of it now lol.
There really is nothing I can think of that might be interfering. I've even fully disabled drive G as per the instruction of a previous poster. This also did not help. |

Alright, let's try something different then.
Try downloading https://binaries.eveonline.com/EveLauncher-1018996.7z and uncompress that - this is just the launcher without an installer.
Try running EVE\Launcher\evelauncher.exe - you can set up a shortcut on your desktop if you like.
If this works, you can at least go and play EVE and leave me to figure out why the installer won't do its thing.

Okay, that definitely worked. If I have any issues after patching, with launching the game application itself, I'll come back here. For now though, it seems like I might be able to play. I'll keep an eye on this forum in case you have anything else you want me to try for the launcher. Thanks a lot for your valuable time. |

Executable is already signed by CCP. I'm not sure how signed executable can be corrupted, yet run, especially on Windows 10.
As to original error, post some screenshots. I'm not convinced this error is actually coming from Eve Installer.

OK, go to storage settings and under Save Locations, verify that none of those things are pointed to your removable media.
To me it looks like maybe some Temporary folder is pointer to wrong location?
Go to cmd.exe, and type
echo %TMP% echo %TEMP%
what does that say?

I've seen something similar waaay back 20 years ago in Windows 95 days, but I don't remember. Look at your environmental variables (`set` command) and check registry for possible misconfigurations. Otherwise, CCP is the only people that have access to installer source code. But from my experience with Qt, I don't think this is a problem with Qt itself. It looks like something is misconfigured on your end, but I will not be able to help you more specifically.

Here's a shot in the dark, but is there any possibility that it could be Steam interfering with the install? After all, I have Steam installed, but was trying to use the EVE launcher to install the game. It seems unlikely, but is there a small chance of that? |
