Most of them, no. A few exceptions you will need is a a few levels of mechanic and hull upgrades, and possibly rig skills.
Even tho this char is caladri, I have mechanic 5 trained because its a requirement to train assault frigates.
Basically.. don't train mechanic stuff until you see a place you need it. The small bonus to hull size won't matter much.

Training both shield and armor as high as possible, plus the shield and armor compensation skills, are always good to do.
Sure, you may not armor tank, but having as much shields and armor as possible is always a good idea. That much more armor means, that much more time before you're in structure.
It all depends on priorities I suppose.

The advantage of shield tanking is you know when its going to make a run for it... With armour tanking its too late.

Yes, but with armor tanking you get to use the entire shield as a "buffer" before you even start your tank.
And real men pod-tank.

Even for dedicated shield tankers, there are many specific situations where a little bit of Mechanic tree skills are useful.
You'll want Mechanic L3 and Repair Systems L2 for Remote Armor Repair systems (armor maintenance drones and good old fashioned remote repairers). You'll also want Mechanic L3 and then Jury Rigging L3 (or even L4 if you think you can get your hands on a CCC II rig) for whatever specific rigging you might want. You'll probably love Hull Upgrades L4 for Damage Control II (not so good for a perma tank, but very good for when "things start to head south" and every little bit of extra HPs can mean the difference between life and death). And finally, you can't resist craving Mechanic L5 for the nice little AF -> HAC -> Field CBC line of ships.
