The Imperium will fall eventually ... Goons reliefed from all the BS serious politics and greed will hopefully find a way to join the fun again.
Whether EvE can live without a super villain, well, time will tell ...

It's hard to escape the conclusion that the coalition will be totally restructured regardless of the outcome.
As for goons... people have counted them out before. It's not so easy to destroy a group with the organisational infrastructure they have, and which can be easily expanded to rebuild a large coalition at will.

Imperium isn't going anywhere. The force attacking us would be a serious threat if money wasn't the only thing driving them. But as it stands right now, the only thing allowing them to come at us again and again is the reimbursements they receive each time they lose a fleet. Their money well is going to run dry long before ours will, and so they have no chance of winning no matter how much they hate us.
That's not to say we're not learning lessons about the new sov system. We have made mistakes, we will make mistakes and we will lose on occasion. But when the dust settles, the north west corner of the map will still be held by the Imperium. It will take a lot more than an improvised coalition with a generous banker behind them to destroy us, and that's something they just don't want to realize.

While the coalition may "fall", I can't see EvE without the Goons, or a coalition based around them. Someone's got to be the "Big Bad" in this game. |

Goons even when they will become high sec alliance they can gatecamp and suicidegank highsec, and they will still be Goons. So I dont think you can defeat them in any way, they are elastic, like a big, red, floppy, rubber dildo that will slap you in the face from time to time, in the most surprising moment. Or was it CODE?

Since you asked
The question that should be asked is not whether the Goons fail, but whether the coalition can follow through. I have no dog in this fight (at least directly). If the goons fail it will be death by "a thousand paper cuts", to use an old idiom.
The coalition had best be prepared to for a protracted conflict if they are to succeed. Just because we have witnessed some fraying of the edges does not mean that all is lost. There will be time for the brute force of war. What will decide the outcome of this conflict is smart tactics and will. Not Isk.
Either way, It will sure as hell be entertaining

Civil discourse is uniquely human. After all, when is the last time a pride of lions and a herd of water buffalo negotiated SOV over a watering hole? Never.
Someone either gets their ass kicked or eaten. At the end of the day someone holds SOV.

They'll be evicted, spin it as a victory when we all go home, then get back to running sanctums.
And I assume they'll get hazed regularly by Co2.

People seem to forget that this isn't the first time it happened. Every time it's the same outcome, after a few days or a few weeks the 'new GRRR Goons/Imperium/CFC coalition' gets bored of getting killed and leaves (it's not like they can hold anything they die taking).
EVEN if by some MIRACLE the Imperium loses ALL of it's stations/regions... then it would simply take it back at the next login/opportunity. You cannot hold this amount of space w/o proper alliances controlling them, with a proper system in place, etc.
This seems all 'OMFG' to any newbie in the game because you see 700+ hostile fleet that shows up in a system with 30 people, destroys everything and puts timers on and then leaves never to come back (because it can't be a 700+ man fleet in EVERY region).
TBH it's good shooting, which is always fun. Sure beats station spinning and rusting supercapitals that waits for a target for months on end.
Edit: I forgot to mention this, people need to understand that losing a few perimeter regions that are not protected and have no tactical value, does not mean it's 'the end of goons/imperium/eve/ur mom'. Imperium space is very (very!) big.
Been around since the beginning.

You've not their talent for disappearing in a haze of recrimination and failed attempts to break station camps.

MBC isn't getting killed whilst capturing (except for some lol mallers) because CFC isn't showing up...when CFC does show up, they get kerbstomped because they can't blob and they don't know how to pvp without blobbing.
CO2 knew how to but they kinda left you.

Isn't it nice how you can so easily hide all you important assets, avoid fights, and come back later with not even a bloody nose.
Maybe we should use this oppertunity to discuss the imaginary risk that is used to justify large rewards in nullsec.
