I am not in any sort of leadership role in my alliance. I am not an FC, or anything special. I'm just another guy in the line, but I do have opinions. I'm pissed that some two day old alt blows up our iHub in a condor and I'm supposed to feel like Troll Sov is a good thing?
I hope iHubs will become invulnerable, because under the new sovereignty system they are far too easy to destroy. This current system discourages one of the most significant benefits of owning sovereignty, PVE activity.
-//-
As I write this post:
The median price of an iHub is 781 million isk, sans any upgrades, sans any invested maintenance fees, sans player time. The median price of an entosis link is 32 million isk. The median price of a condor is .47 million isk.
781 million is no where near 32.5 million in value.
Want to effectively raise and maintain you indexes, you have to have an iHub in system and you need players that are both available and committed to PvE activity.
How large is the difference between the training requirements and activity risk between the two activities: anchoring and maintaining an iHub plus indexing vs. flying a T1 entosis frigate into Null Space?
-//-
Certainly, I do not blame Trolls for being who they are. I do wish that CCP, you would come to understand that this is not a sovereignty system for small alliances, nor is this a sovereignty system for PvE players. It is a sovereignty system for PvP trolls. This system is heavily skewed toward the attacker. This system discourages one of most significant reasons behind owning sovereignty, PvE activity.
For three months we have been battling this March of the Trolls. (The Troll March is here to cause grief, not actually fight for space.) The Trolls form a fleet and their alts jump into T1 entosis frigates. While we try to engage their fleet, their alts run around entosising whatever they find.
Miners and ratters, it takes several of us spending many man hours hours in a single system trying to raise the indexes or fight decay. The Troll March only has to show up for the timer and the troll only comes in with a single T1 frigate to wipe out all that hard work and we lose our anomalies.
OR...
They send a bunch of trolls all over space to set notifications. In the old SoV system, we could send an interceptor to see that it was just some trolls hitting a PoCo. We could keep an eye on them, but they're weren't a real threat on their own, because a few trolls will not burn through all those shields. Not so in Troll Sov. In Troll Sov, that condor is a real threat. You have to stop what you are doing, dock-up, re-ship, go through all the work of organizing a new fleet, hope you bio'd recently, and go deal with it. Constant interruptions to our game time and constant interruptions to our socializing.
When this system released, I was very excited, because there seemed to be a direct path, other than tax, for my PvE activities to help the alliance PvP activity. Now that I'm living with the Troll March in system, who cares if the entosis cycle is 10 minutes longer. The Trolls just brought more trolls in T1 frigates. Plus, there seems to be no day off from the timers. Every day, during my play time, more timers, so I'm in my Logi ship not my ratting or mining ship.
I hope these iHubs change to be invulnerable, they become cheaper or we see some significant relief from vulnerability windows. CCP, you got your war, you got your propaganda, give me some time to shoot rocks with my friends. We're tired of the trolls.
P.S. To Pandemic Legion. This is not about you: PL proper, Waffles and your horde. We've been kicking your ass since January. (You DID NOT flip a timer without NC.) It's all these damn trolls.
As a few words of caution to your PL brand. Who are you? Used to be fighting PL was like getting whelped by Rooks and Kings. A good fight was something you were kinda proud of being able to bring. PL could bring the same doctrine, fewer numbers, out maneuver and win. That used to be okay, because back then you were PL.
Now you are people who blob small T1 fleets in your Command Ships or T3s. Or... the gate campers on the P-33 gate. On more than one occasion, PL, proper line members, have rolled over miners that fought back without putting a GF in local. Instead, we get hate speech in response to our own GFs. LOW CLASS. Is it your association with the trolls rubbing off? It's interesting to see you coming down to our level, but now, should we still compare PL to Rooks and Kings or should we compare you to The Marmite Collective?
While in EvE University, we had regular visits from Waffles and PL leadership. They spoke to us about an organization that focuses and prides itself on operational excellence and execution, and at some level, space bushido. Now, you're camping my gate in P-33. You'll get more kill mails on the Stacmon gate in Ostingele.

Keeping a level head about the topic, you must consider that your own view is likely skewed due to the fact that your alliance, and indeed the greater Imperium, are being systematically targeted by the rest of Eve.
Whether it's generating timers or camping out your systems, the reality is that Eve does not like your coalition and will find ways to disrupt your gameplay in order to instigate its downfall. If Sov trolling was not possible, they will find another way. Sov trolls are not the underlying problem, hatred of your empire is.

Wasn't it the SMA who escalated things into this war? Wasn't it the SMA who pissed on IWI's shoes? Wasn't it your glorious F++hrer, ah sorry, CEO Winet, in his delusions of grandeur, which made him think he could get away with it? And now as you have to suffer the consequences, you start to whine? Seriously dude, seriously?
Btw, the Allies do not have to prove anything, this war isn't about proving something. This war is about the simple fact, that the EVE Community is fed up with you, Goons and their minions! Simple as that! Never in the history of EVE were the reasons for a war as just as this time!
The allies can't beat the CFC? Seriuosly? Your beloved CFC was handed their asses in Low Sec, by Low Sec dudes which showed the whole EVE Community, that the Emporium is nothing more than a ego bloated shadow of its past.
Even when the allies don't win this war, this war has shown that the rest of us do not have to fear you guys anymore. You're already a thing of the past, you just don't know it right now. Even when the Emporium should survive this war, i highly doubt that the SMA will.

Perspective. We burned a regions worth of Ihubs in less than a week, which in my book should not be possible. But as I said - this has been discussed, and apparently it's intended. So, we'll have to deal with it, just like SMA and everybody else. |

When the Providence campaign occurred I did not like the fact that an entity could basically steamroll a region in a week or two. But people explained that it was the only possible model for sovereignty. Otherwise, you would end up with groups who were impossible to dislocate. It makes sense - if a more powerful group wants to take your space then they can.

Do you know why that single Condor can DESTROY (not merely reinforce) your ihub? BECAUSE YOU LET HIM. A T1 dessie beats him. If you're letting one Condor not only reinforce your ihub but apparently win the entosis contest all by himself as well, you don't deserve or even apparently want your space.

You don't need a fleet to deal with a lone entosis condor. Try something like this:
[Crusader, standard pulse] Overdrive Injector System II IFFA Compact Damage Control Heat Sink II Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
5MN Y-T8 Compact Microwarpdrive Initiated Compact Warp Scrambler
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Ancillary Current Router I Small Energy Collision Accelerator II
It does 6.5 km/s with heat, whereas an entosis ship is capped at 4 km/s and can't warp while the link's active, so you can easily run that condor down and kill it all by yourself. No fuss, no muss, and no need to organise a fleet. |
