I was looking around eve-files for some videos to watch when I came accross one from the Curse Alliance. The HUD in the video looked quite cool with the animated graphics and so on.
I was wondering how long ago did Eve look like this?

That looks like the Gemini client to me, which was in use at release.

Yeah that was what the HUD looked like at release. ---

Yeah me to but the problem was you couldn't get at all the slots easily. You could only display one row at a time. The new one is functionally much better but kinda large. I personally wish they would shrink the giant module buttons down to about half their current size and it would be perfect. ---

Those of us who are able to run the game on a decent monitor would then need a magnifying glass to see them.
Perhaps customizable size? ----------

That was the HUD pre Exodus/Shiva.
It was nice and compact but a pain in the arse to use in combat.
- You couldn't see how much hull the target had. - You could only see one layer of slots (high, med, low) at once; you would have to click on the small blue buttons near the bottom of the hud to flip between the two. - The display on the far right was your scanner (an early version of the overview with less than half the functionality the current one has).
There was also a pretty but basically useless little 3D map in the bottom right corner of the area (a miniture version of the tactical view we have now).
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it.

Ahhh... The good old time, when ships didn't have a minimum insurance and there was no autopilot
And yeah, i agree, the icons on the right should be the same size than those on the left -----

True. I would run at a higher res if I could read things but I have to limit myself to 1280x1024 or I start going blind. Custom sizeable (or movable) module indicators would be a very nice thing. ---

look closely: the yellow AP button is there.
however the lack of the STOP button means that it is indeed the gemini client (STOP button only came in castor)
btw, CCP I WANT MY STOP BUTTON BACK! would make somethings much easier -------

I remember the days when there was no way to cancel warp without relogging. Now imagine getting stuck on stations (or anything really) when going into warp

I miss how you could move the old scanner/overview around. The current overview just always takes up the entire right side of the screen, that space used to be usable.

Doesn't CTRL+Space still work ? That's the only stop button I've ever used ...
Then again my left hand is wisened and warped into the shape of a WSAD cluster so pinky on the Ctrl and thumb on the space bar is ideal

Not quite, personally I came in in January 04 (post Gemini) with my main, and I seem to remember the stop button coming in after I had been in for a few months. I still like that interface even if it was a PITA.

And on pic 1, please note the HUGE artillery module at the right of the screen.
The client couldn't handle more than 8 modules being active at the same time on any given target, and if you did you got that huge picture on your screen for the 9th module
Like has been said already though, it was a royal pain to have to click the small blue buttons below the cap-meter to show the hi-mid-low slots. Usually you had middle slots active and used F1-F8 to activate high's though. (And as most know you can hit alt-F1 to alt-F8 to activate midslots, but still).
