You guys need to bear in mind no matter what they you are playing a computer game... No matter how 'unacceptable' you may feel it is, the game is limited by the boundries of the technology on which it is based.
It may be unfortunate, but we (and CCP for that matter) may just have to accept that EVE is nearing the limits of todays technology, and no matter how load you scream 'fix it' or how much code is optimized and reworked, there are always going to be problems with such large-scale battles as todays. -----

This is going pretty well actually, 6-7 LV battleships down(hard to lock them down when they keep ctrl+q'ing, but we managed to catch some), and a whole pile of cruisers and frigs.

VALAR this is totally unacceptable. Goonswarm (the 1000+ fleet) got EXACTLY what they wanted: free entry to system bypassing our 400 plus defence.
We are now logging on to find the gate (where we all crashed) hostile, and we are dying.
PLEASE tell us what you are going to do about our titan
Before the first node crash, it was relayed that your gate defenders had left their positions (probably to the pos), so the gate was ours regardless.

I call BS. Absolutly no way you could have the PoS up to 50% shields unless the node crashes reset the PoS shields. Completely full of it. Die LV, die. I find it extremely hilarious that LV seems to be begging the devs to save their titan.

I sat still in my snipe point 150km off the gate with local at 438. I saw one cruiser, hostile locked and fired. Node crashed, two hours later im still trying to log in.
You brought a lag to the battle, nothing more. If you were skilled fighters you would have brought equal numbers of skilled battleship pilots to match what was assembled to face you. Instead you jumped in tech1 crap, there was simply nothing these ship types could do to our snipers, therefore i have to assume you intended to lag the system.
I hope you feel proud.
I heard the hostile cap fleet just jumped in, 70 strong. Your CSAA is dead.

Are you kidding, jump equal numbers into a gate camp bubbled with Titans in system? That doesn't say 'skilled fighter' to me. It says 'lemming'.

Yea, and bashing a CCP employee isn't going to cause another server to appear out of thin air either. How many people here would give their company the finger if they were woken up in the middle of the night to come in to work? Yep, now both sides needs to STFU.

It would be pretty safe to say that anything lost would be reimbursed.
There are enough node crashes, forum spewing, even forum posts from a poor dev who had the pager :)
(btw, guys be nice to him as that is the most posting in a short period of time from a dev on the forums for a very long time. In fact thank him for being most gracious to even respond. If I see him at fafest, he gets a case of beer)
Generally speaking it is going to be more problematic for the GMs to get through the petition queue, so feel sorry for them. Mind you, they would get a bit of diversity having to replace ibis, velators, punishers and other rarely peitioned ship loses :)
As well, I think they would have to reimburse everything and set it back to the way it was before the node crashing. If not, then a group such as this can easily use it to their advatage to crash any system to take it over, which in all cases would be a violation of the EULA. Anyhow, we should be seeing a statement soon about it.

Please, profer no weight to my opinions on such dastardly topics, but for the love of peanut butter, look at the darn empirical evidence.
You tried to jump AT LEAST the population of Jita into a non-dedicated system and were SUPRISED when it lagged out?
Even after Valar did his magical finger-walking and GOT you a dedicated node, you kept cramming at least 150% of the population of Jita onto it and were SUPRISED when it lagged out?
Hey, next time, why not just cram 30,000 pilots into a single unprepared system. I'm sure the server cluster will be able to handle it.
---
How about this, as a suggestion:
Distribute the fleet to cover the systems AROUND the POS, and starve it out. It sounds like you've got enough people to make darn effective camps, and enough again to run a rolling patrol to reinforce any attempted break-ins.
But that would distribute the load across several nodes, lead to actual fighting, and seems like a sound battle plan. My mistake, forward thine blob!

Tolerance..
I think thats something we need to focus on atm.. Yes it sucks right now if your in the War but its not like you didn't know before hand that fleets that big would crash the node.. Granted that isn't much consolation but you still knew before hand this would happen..
Here's hoping that future fixs well.. fix it..

Then your intel was incorrect and you were jumping to your doom. Our entire fleet (except capitals) was still on the gate, waiting to destroy anything that came in. You would very likely have lost that battle after your initial force jumped into us. Then your logoffskis would have come in, reacting to the poor choice to jump in, and another fight would have happened, then your other reinforcements that were on the way would have come in to whatever was left (if anything) of our defenders. (Or any other of a myriad of different possibilities.. too bad we will never know)
Noone had gone to the PoS, save maybe a handful of people warping on their own. The bulk of our fleet was still in position before the first node crash.
And you people wonder why we have no respect for you. Posting smack on an alt about intel that was apparently provided by a monkey.

This is just naive.
Both sides had difficult strategic decisions to make but to say one side was without hope is just ignorant.
We had spies in system and there the numbers we got were 140ish BS in sniping positions and 80 to 100 support right on the gate.
Also about 12 carriers with fighters assigned to gate.
That was what you fielded -vs- approx 1000 BS/Cruiser/Frigate gang.
I don't know what would have happened but neither side was going to get steamrolled without a lot of bloodshed.

Then you send in a small gang to probe + blow away any cyno alts as they log in, or swarm down any cap ships as they port out.
Why am I the only one thinking of these things?
