Or, is nothing really as certain as death and taxes? This is a crosspost, as I later discovered that this is the proper channel.
Hello, My name is Njord Einarsson, my friends call me by my callsign, MoonDawg. I am a Caldari combat pilot, partner of Amplified Intelligence [AMP] Freetrade Corporation. My past is my past, and there is nothing I can do to change that. I do, however, have a few questions. I'll just toss them in the subspace, to see who responds. While I do appreciate the efforts of Concord, their justice can at times be a bit too blind. And swift. The "no questions asked" policy can be a bit extreme. I'm not saying they don't get some work done, but if I may humbly suggest; you should rethink a few policies. Like for an example, I would hazard a guess that basically you get your funds from pretty much the same sources as, let me say, the jumpgate guys. Or the evemail/chat guys. Wich, if I'm not much mistaken, is the empires, who get their isk from Corporations and ultimately, us, the consumers. I would however like to tip my interface helmet to the great Caldari State, and it's corporations, for rendering me so many free services, and not charging me any fees nor taxes. Don't you get any funny Ideas, though, I like it that way. What I can't understand, is why I have to pay a 100 isk to talk to someone. Jumpgate guys, you really should get invited to the evemail/chat guys christmas party. They're wallowing in isk. True may it be that their technology is great, but so is yours, and I think their overhead is slightly greater than yours, considering we pay you nothing. Now don't you get any funny ideas, either. this leads me to think that if safety and travel is provided me to promote trade and generate revenue, why do I have to pay a 100 isk to communicate with someone? So far, I have not been able to track down any pilots in spacestation bars, or exit lounges to talk to them in person. this does not seem in sync with the promote trade idea. I would like to say that I wish for the galaxys people to live in peace, so I can ply my trade. I selflessly pay what it costs to provide safety to the people around me. We pay our taxes due, in blood, so you the people of Eve can drink your Quafe cola. Do NOT However, charge me a 100 isk to talk to someone. Communication is one of the basic needs of a human being, alongside warmth, water and food. Don't charge me for breathing.
People of EVE, unite with me in this. Let us stand together to end this tyrrany. FREE COMMUNICATION NOW!

This procedure was instantiated after some warring parties (and indeed non warring parties seeking to disrupt ongoing battle) used to scramble the oppenents com-systems with an overwhelming amount of messages in mid battle, thus hindering the opponents free view of their battle systems.
Now all these fees gets logged in the wallet journal, for later examination if needed.
At least... thats how I remember it...

Well many, many people are filthy rich in this world. Even the poorest graduate from the universities can easily pay 100isk to send a long range communique to someone. Selling the first load of veldspar or tritanium can net you a few thousand. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I completely agree with you, mr. Oberon, and I must admit, i am not without a significant amount of funds myself. This, with all due respect, renders Tornsouls arguement rather pointless. But you are all missing the greater issue here. This is not about the money, It's about being charged for the only way to communicate. And that is something I will not idly stand by and let go unchallenged.

To some extent I must admit being charged for such a service that all are dependant on is a rather complicated subject. It is probably best to note that there is a cost to maintain the necessary systems for comunication. The maintenance of a galactic-wide communications network must be vast, and so a charge must be employed in order to ensure that the network is kept up and running. Perhaps if a less intrusive charging system was introduced then people would be warmer to the idea, I know of quite a few individuals who get annoyed at constant flashing when they are making conversation. ------------------------------------------

Don't shoot the messanger
The arguments are not mine I'm merely relaying the reasons given for those changes (as best as my memory serves me).

Actually, each time you send a transmission you are depleting some of your ship's store of bonded fluid that allows you to transmit bytes, so it would cost money to constantly replace it. (Per the scientific article on FTL communications.)
