I see alot of ships with the prefix of nano- attached. What is this about? Seems to be alot of complainers, alot of pwners, and alot of anything else... all relating to these vessels of infamy. Can anyone explain?

Essentially, it's a ship that fits large amounts of Nanofiber Internal Structures, Inertial Stabilizers, or Overdrive Injectors.
These ships typically fly very very fast, making them invulnerable to most ships, unless of course they're webbed. You can check the information portal for developer statements on "nano" ships and what changes may be planned.

Basically you can fit ships with a large number of low slots with modules that improve speed and/or agility. This makes your ship quite fast to fly with a microwarpdrive and very quick to turn or align for warp. Ships that can fly around quickly usually present a challenge to guns as your tracking might not keep up with them. Missiles don't get affected as much, because they don't track, but they do a bit less damage due to increased speed of the ship. This tactic is commonly used on Minmatar ships, which are the fastest in the game. Nanophoons, Typhoons with nanos, and Nanodomis, Dominixes with nanoes comes to mind. These ships tend to carry NOS and arm with light T2 drones to get rid of any interceptors gaining in on them. Because they have no low slots available for any kind of armor tank, they either tank with shields or fit for maximum damage. In takes a gang to catch and kill a skilled pilot in a nano-ship, which is why most people say they are overpowered.
The ultimate counter to a nano-ship is stasis webifier, but it only has a range of 10km unless you carry faction webs which are very expnesive and not that much greater in range. So usually you need someone in gang able to fly a Minmatar recon ship, which gives range bonus to stasis webifiers, to catch a nano-ship.

An additional complaint against nanoships is that even this supposed "ultimate counter" is apparently of limited effectiveness, because a webbed ship can still coast at speeds in the kilometers per second range due to sheer inertia.
At least that is what some people have suggested, please correct me if I'm mistaken. I've fortunately never encountered a nanoship myself and my experience with them is limited to what I read in the debate over them.
