I have been playing eve for a little over 4 years, loving every minute, well most of them.I am proud of what i have acheived mostly by myself , i will never forget the feeling i got from cashing in my first load of ore,the first time i undocked my shiny new retriever, buying my first raven and completeing my first level four mission,i loved it all.
I am not a gambling person hell i dont even do the lottery cause i consider myself very unlucky when it comes to games of chance, so what i am about to tell you might come as a shock.Over the period of four years i had accumulated about 29 billion, all earned in game, i had lots of nice shiny spaceships and a blinged out golem for my mission running. One night i received a link for a site where i could enter raffles to win ships, sounds like fun i thought,in hindsight bad idea.Over the space of the next few hours i had won about 5 billion worth of ships, i was hooked, i cashed out and went to bed. The next night did not go so well or the night after,to cut a long story short, and most of you will know where this is heading, i lost all that isk and all my 29 billion i had worked so had for, but the worst was yet to come. I was devastated, literally sick at how dumb i was but i had to get it back, i sold all my ships which totaled about 5 billion and proceeded to lose that as well the only thing of worth i had left was my character, yep you guessed it, i gathered enough isk to buy a skill extractor and took of some skills i did not need ,sold it and done it again i completely striped my character thinking i can buy them all back with my winnings. You know the rest without me having to explain, as of this time i have 5 million skill points,13 million isk and no assets. But the saddest part is i have now lost all will to play a game i once loved, and that makes me sad, but if this story helps someone else avoid the same fate then at least i will have helped someone.

Welcome to EVE. Sounds like you have a massive gambling problem that EVE showed you. Just be happy you only lost your ISK. Imagine what would have happened if you went to Las Vegas? You'd have emptied your bank account, mortgaged your already paid house then sell the house, sell your family belongings too so they're now homeless then sell your kidney to boot.
Get help m8 before it comes to that.
Also it's "tale" not "tail". Tail implies a body part like "The tail of that rat is so large". lrn2english m8.

Fly safe. Players have for over a decade had to deal with their pixel assets being stolen, blown up, scammed or otherwise lost. Loss is a part of Eve, and if you were playing it only to watch an imaginary number go up, perhaps your time with Eve had run its course. There are plenty of other games out there that will give you an ever-increasing number as a reward for clicking that will never go down so perhaps you will be happier with one of them.
However, if you truly enjoyed playing the game you will be back. Once the sting of your loss is gone, you will remember the entertainment you derived from the actual game play and can start over again accumulating things. Nothing of what you lost is irreplaceable, even the skill points - they are just numbers in some database somewhere. The valuable part of Eve is the hours of fun and the player interactions you had, and can have, and that cannot be taken away by a gambling site.
Scamming players out of skill points was a concern raised during the kerfuffle before release of the extractors and was a completely predicable outcome of the change. The sooner players start to view SP as just another fungible asset, and not some irreplaceable indicator of their progression, the better, as many players are going to start losing them due to poor choices made in game. Until that adjustment is made however, there is going to be players rage-quitting after being induced to extract all their SP and losing it to other players.
But OP, go take a break. Come back in a few months and see if the drive to play again is there. If it is, don't ever gamble or risk your core income-generating assets again. Not risking what you can't afford to lose is one of the Golden Rules of Eve. And now, the benefit of Skill Extractors is those SP and not irreversibly lost and you can get back what you once had in much less time than four years.

Very unlucky I quite eve and I started gambling after I gave a fair bit of isk away, I thought why not nothing to lose
I got lucky 1st with wining 60b from 2.5b won some slot jackpot and the top tier stellar pool. I put it all back in lost it all then out all my remaining isk from my character sale Into it. Won it all back and more then kept on playing lost it all had about 5b left from 120b and ended up winning 200b with it so I cashed out thinking I'm so fucken lucky and now I'm playing eve again and loving it lol

Probably you thought that in the current environment a by-shot to IWI would be accepted and some people would believe it, yet the problem is that a) you are a poor liar and b) you don't have a clue on how does gambling addiction work.
See, if anyone with gambling issues was hooked by the casino simulations around EVE (unlikely to happen, since the gain is not real), the telltale evidence would be when he started buying PLEX to fund the casino simulation gambling.
And then you wouldn't hear of it, neither. |

Came expecting a story about women and well...tail. Now, I figure it's hard to sympathize with a guy who doesn't know the difference between "tail" and "tale". Such guys always have a story to tell...where they end up being the ass. So...tail is probably correct in that regard.

The story sounds a little fishy, but I've always thought that winning a big payout is dangerous because it may get the gambler hooked.
I wonder if online gambling sites ever write their code to make that happen on purpose.

i would be astounded if they didn't. poker machine companies have been doing it for decades, it's known as 'intermittent reward'.

Gotta love the 1 day old character posting garbage about there history like that isn't bullshit. Also 29b from missions and highsec crap for 4 years sure you did and I fly planes backwards. Anyways 4 years of highsec life and I would be paying people 29b to put me down out of my misery. Go to Null, or WH space and earn 29B in a month or so. |

Different people plays in different ways. After 7 years, my main probably hasn't got 29 billion in cash and assets, as if I've never played for ISK or SP. I don't worship money IRL, let alone when it's CCP's assets in CCP's video game... |

Second that your issue is with gambling OP. A smart player would've taken the 5B first day winnings and walked away from that site for a long, long time, like years. A person with a gambling addiction problem would do exactly what you did, always thinking "I'll win that back tomorrow". It's very close to a drug addiction in nature.
You should get some help from a gambling addict treatment professional as soon as possible before 'real' money gets involved. They can help you understand the addiction and how it works. Even then, you need to be constantly alert in your life for 'gambles' that you get involved in. Please seek some help.
To those that want to turn this into a LoSec, NullSec, vs. HiSec issue. What plays for you is not necessarily what plays for everyone else. To each their own. Telling someone 'how' to play EVE is like telling someone 'how' to make a meal. There's no one way.
