I still see the same old stuff bots being used here and there And im a bit sick seeing all those lifeless miner bot fleets or market bot orders jumping by 0.01 like 24/7 or PI botting. How about stop doing new stuff and redesign old easy-bottable mechanics instead ? While i can understand CCP is not able to win vs bots via simple banning and monitoring (especially ones emulating keyboard and mouse usage) - CCP still could redesign old mechanics in the way it requires actual player skill (like pvp do) instead of mindless clicking. Otherwise game loosing its depth and mmo-world feeling with only "real human" activity being pvp - and for that we have many other games and many are better...
tldr: it was a rant about mindless mechanics ingame and the way CCP is actually ecouraging botting in eve online keeping such mechanics as is. Just adding some salt to sweets before the Fanfest |

I've just accepted bots are a part of the game, with it's old, old mechanics. Might as well make it legal and bring in new mechanics that execute the same thing without all the scripting. Be done with it all. |

I hear ya, mate. To be honestly fair, besides those benefiting from botting programs, no one here would ever disagree...and CCP would actually agree with you more than anyone else. Thing is, while it may not look like it, asking CCP to drop current plans to push for anti-botting changes would be akin to asking someone to immunizing your comp from every possible hack, trojan, worm, backdoor, and any other sneaky little mischievous program; it wouldn't be any less simple.
They either can't or don't care. In all likelihood, they actually probably don't care BECAUSE they can't, at least not so simply or practically. They could make tons of little changes here and there, likely ones that would inconvenience legitimate players just as much or more so than botters already do (can you imagine having to impute some CAPTCHA code just to undock, jump, or change a market order?), just for the same botters to find a new way around those changes in a month's time. Anyway you slice it, it's an uphill battle I'm sure. It's no excuse for doing nothing, but CCP can only get so little lasting results for so much effort. As long as SOMETHING is done to help stem the tide of botting, though realistically we can't nor should expect CCP to work miracles in this department.
Also, any inaction on CCP's part is probably them weighing things out: Does the cost in terms of developmental effort and any inconvenience imparted on legitimate players involved in any process to undermine botting outweigh the cost and inconvenience of focusing on other more critical subsystems of Eve? Sounds like an easy-to-answer question, right? My thinking is that it's not so easy or so simple to answer each time someone working for CCP asks that question.
"Tomahawks?"
"----in' A, right?"
"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."
"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Principle, which might be worth more or less depending upon who you ask. CCP certainly isn't going to open the flood gates, at least I'd hope not. They haven't so far at least.

-Ébout "bots are ok and part of EVE" - you should look at "clicker" type games - there are nothing about game and all about achievments. Not to mention bots are basically killing actual player competition in every area bots being used. Why at all should we have mechanics like courier missions and mining in game if 90% of actual users of said mechanics are bots lol.
And about not expecting miracles from CCP - im not. Just saying banning cant win vs bots when botting is encouraged by design of ingame mechanics. Also if such sites exist it means there is a demand for such services - CCP should think why from they end.
