Turn on CQ and find a hidey hole, like in the walkway or beside the Door.

Nice
As far as positioning goes in amarr stations they are perfect match in caldari ones they are way too high did not dock in min or gal ones.

Well, almost exactly - it was of no use if, like me, you couldn't stand the sterile static background and inability to rotate your ship. |

And it was of great use if, like me, you couldn't stand rendering the whole hangar scene when you never look at it anyway. Hence why options are nice. |

Throwing in my vote/opinion for at least an option to turn off the hangar screens, they're very annoying to me and apparently many others. So give us the option to turn them off or leave them on. |

Miss 'Assassination' Cayman wrote:So yeah, they're very ugly but there are other issues. Since the update it seems like framerate in station is noticeably lower than before, and now a fair bit lower than in space. It also seems like the videos are not cached and take far more bandwidth than Eve would normally take. For those of us with annoyingly low data limits, Eve is one of the few online games we can play, but if my numbers for today are correct that may no longer be the case.
I don't want to pay more real money for internet just to look at ads for other alliances. That's the kind of thing people go out of their way to block on web pages, and now we have to deal with it in the game too.
This can be quite the issue in the U.S. and Canada. I'm not sure what the situation in other countries may be. But if CCP would still like the 'non-$1000 jeans' crowd to remain subscribed and active, things like bandwidth concerns need to be remembered. An option to turn off and on some high-bandwidth items should be implemented and these screens look like a proper candidate.
Again, remember, some of us are stuck under a monopoly or duopoly of ISPs that have no problem with robbing us at the slightest excuse. If you want the players under these conditions to remain in the game, this has to be considered. |

I too would like an off switch, but if its like past requests for said off switches, CCP will just tell us its a 'cop out' to have an off switch.
Why a switch on/off?
Because the new animation doesn't add anything to gameplay and it's graphically annoying.
In other words, it's worse than bad: it's useless.

If you don't like them just don't point your view at them. having a turn off option would defeat the point of it being a billboard/display.
Its a place for inworld related content to be displayed, and opens up the ability to show things to a much wider audience. In my book that's pretty frickin awesome and welcome.

Really some of you people will moan about anything If we don't like them, we're not gonna pay attention to what they're displaying much anyway, and it would be better if we could just turn them off entirely and not waste bandwidth. Those that like them would leave them on and look at them from time to time. At least when they were just in CQ you could always just not use CQ (I don't like CQ anyway, so it was an easy choice).

Loving the new interiors. The screens seem like the old gallente hubs used to have but yeah some consideration for bandwidth users would be nice. I personally am not one of them. I find that its annoying mostly cuz of the fact they are cut off so I just get the "flashes" issue which is quite distracting at times on other monitors when docked.
Other than that I got no dog in this fight.
Have you heard anything I've said?
You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

I need to be able to turn off the lights in the captains quarters when I leave. It seems like such a waste of station electricity to leave all that stuff on 24/7. Specially when I'm sleeping on the bed that I can't stretch all the way out in, like to turn off the lights and tv's you know... |

No, because those things aren't decreasing the framerate of other clients while actively making it harder to concentrate on the windows I have open in front of the hangar scene. |

LOL.... "universally hated"? I like dramaz as much as the next person, but please....
This thread is only 3 pages so far.... if it was as "universal" as you say it is.. we should be at page 30 by now.
I personally like it and you can always turn away the camera if you don't like it, as well, the default docking camera doesn't even show them unless your turning the camera.
I think publicly your moaning about it, but secretly your checking it out just like everyone else.
Don't worry I won't tell anyone. |
