Hi! Returning player here.. I just bought PLEX and injected just a little bit of SP so I could start running level 1 missions in Worm. Next ship will be Gila and eventually level four missions with Rattlesnake (perhaps 0.0 anomalies?).
Fitting for level 1 and level 2 missions is easy and there is no need for any expensive modules. Just MSE seems to be enough as tank..
I would like to get fits for Gila and Rattlesnake. I will spend SP heavily on shield and drone skills and I like passive tanking.
Do you use propulsion modules?
Do you use drone speed modules?
Is it worth it to get those augmented faction drones that have quite large tank?
Most likely I will be hanging around in Gallente and Minmatar space until I have enough fat wallet to move into nulsec.
Thanks in advance! |

I'd advise getting at least one of each module in your cargo then fitting as needed, with a mobile depot, while in the site. It allows you to learn while on the spot. |

I love my Gila, has to be my favorite ship up to this point. I use it to run level 3's with 0 issues. I keep a probe launcher on it to scan down sites. I keep a mobile depot with relic/data analyzers. Lets me scan down combat sites and do the odd relic or data site I come across.
Highs: 4x Rapid Light Missile Launcher II - Scourge Fury light Probe Launcher - Sisters probes
Mid: 3x Large shield extender II Adaptive Invul Field II Hardener of choice II 10mn AB II
Low: 3x Drone Damaage Amp II
Rig: 2x Medium Field Purger II Damage type of your hardener Reinforcer II
Drones: 8 x T2 mediums of various damage types - hammerhead, vespa etc 4x T2 light drone of your choice

It is called a Mobile Depot, it takes a few seconds to anchor itself then you can right click on it and use the "fitting service" and change fittings in space. You can even move drones into your drone bay, if you carry extras.
Just remember to bookmark it, if you plan to leave it deployed. Or even if you don't. When you first start using them, it is very easy to leave them behind then either have to scan them down or buy a new one. |

Passive missioning with drones doesn't really exist anymore. Drones can and do attract a lot of NPC aggro now, so you can't leave them unattended. You'll find that with some of the changes to the Rattlesnake you give up quite a bit of DPS to have the option to passive tank. In any event, the Rattlesnake is highly overrated for L4 missions (DPS looks great on paper; applying it on a consistent basis is another matter entirely).

Passive missioning with drones still exists, but only for the Gila.
Drone Link Augmentor II Drone Link Augmentor II
10MN Afterburner II Pithum C-Type Medium Shield Booster Shield Boost Amplifier II Shield Boost Amplifier II Adaptive Invulnerability Field II Large Capacitor Battery II
Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II
Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer II Medium Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer II Medium Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer II
Caldari Navy Vespa Caldari Navy Vespa
This will omni-tank all L4's without the need to ever swap hardeners.
The Vespas draw very little aggro, and when they do they easily tank it with their shield regen rate.
Very few missions require any manual targetting, only things like spider drones do. |

Thanks for the replies.
By passive I meant passive shield tanking, not passive mission running.
Sad that there isn't guristas carrier ship. |

Passive tank used to be best for the Gila, but two things happened that changed that.
The ship lost its 4th lowslot, resulting in ether a loss of a shield power relay, or a loss of a drone damage amp.
Large cap batteries got an enormous buff, allowing for a powerful active tank with just a single capacitor module.
The fit above is equivilent in price to a T2 purger rig passive fit, but its more powerful and has a leaner signature. |

Gila
3x purgers in the rig slots 3x DDA in the low slots 3x LSE, with 2x resistance modules + 1x AB in the mid slots 4x missile launchers in the high slots
the resistance modules used will vary by the relevant damage profile of the incoming dps the same applies to drones & missiles loaded e.g Angel Cartel - Adaptive Invulnerability Field + Explosive Deflection Field, with Valkyrie + Nova Blood Raiders - EM Ward Field + Thermic Dissipation Field, with Infiltrator + Mjolnir etc.
eve-survival + a 3rd party fitting tool will give you the rest |

Alright I think I get the idea now, thanks for the replies.
Btw Worm and faction drones in L2 missions...massive overkill. I feel confident that I can run some level threes in a Worm. |

To clarify this. You cannot refit when you have a weapons timer not a combat timer. 1 minute vs 15 minute =P. |

Used couple skill injectors and spend them for drone, shield, missile and spaceship command skills. Got myself a new Rattlesnake!
Did not want to go all in so I will have to wait for T2 drones and launchers.
However I already did one mission and I had forgotten how damn slow battleship hulls are.
I discovered this new micro jump drive and it seems that it is useful in missions. Is that correct?
Faction drones, 2x LSE, 4x hardeners (passive) and propulsion mod. Lows 3x DDA and those shield recharge mods. Rigs are of course purgers. Highs were just 5 rapid heavy missile launchers and that was a mistake since drone control range was too low. Need to up the drone control range.
The tank was totally overkill for the mission that I did, but I like to keep it that way until I get into this new ship.
Oh, I did run those level three missions very easily on Worm!
Only once they engaged my light faction drones. I went from 0 to 5+ corporation standing in just few days with it. Worm can be quite good for blitzing level three missions when AB is fitted. There were some missions where I had to warp off and actually check eve survival, but mostly just pick up a mission, refit and blitz it.
So far I think that I made a good choice. Rattlesnake seems to be usable on very different areas of PVE grinding. |

Overtanking initially is fine. As you gain experience with how missions play out you can drop some tank for DPS or utility
I found 2 hardeners to be fine for both L4's & null-sec ratting on the Gila By extension I would imagine the snake will cope well too. |
