O7 ya'all! first I want to say that I'm grateful for the changes with the billboards and station inerior, but they are not going far enough. currently, when you dock at any station, you'll see the same 5 spots on the billboard screens running in a loop. not only that it's becoming boring (as before the patch), by repeating the same "alliance-reated and therefore political" ADVERTISEMENTS, CCP clearly gives those individual groups a huge advertising surface FOR FREE!!!
I am sure those spots have been chosen randomly and hopefully there's a future plan to put in more diversity in that feature. so why did they just put in a handfull of those spots and not like 100??? (I am sure there has been quite enough submissions from that "Billboard Contest"!) - and if it can only be 5 spots or so (for unintelligible reasons), why not let them swap every few days??!
This is not a priority topic compared to all the wonderful new features in the sandbox but if you see it from a PR perspective: those ads have a huge impact on us subcontiously (like any advertisement). if you run them for a couple of weeks, some names pop up in your mind, names of groups that you maybe haven't even heard before - and as a new player you might think: "well, those Bergmann Federation guys must be good, let's give them a try.." (nothing against you guys, just used for illustration).
the bottom line is that it's UNFAIR to all the parties that are not metioned (as long as they had submitted a video). certain groups benefit from the aired ads and could therefore have an advantage in recruiting as well as they get a huge boost into public awarenesss!
hopefully I am not the only geek who cares for that issue, feel free to comment!

I'd like an off switch for them or the option to play local content. |

Probably weren't as many submissions as you think. But its still early stages. I just hope they keep iterating on this feature.

Billboard space ought to be purchaeable, like in the real world.
Make it reasonable enough for small corps to afford.
I suppose they could make billbords in more high traffic areas, cost more, and low traffic areas cost less.
Great opportunity for an ISK sink.
The space could be made available to other service providers in game ( for instance businesses like the Taxi Service idea I posted. ) and the meta game ( like Big Lottery), so long as they fit in with the game Lore. |

I would like to be able to turn the adverts off completely (laptop user) but I think the adverts are fine: for billboards not in my control. For my own Citadel, I would like to be able to control the content of the billboards. After all, why would I allow an opposing group to advertise in my 'home'.
Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.

What could possibly be wrong with that?
