You can call it simplistic, but that stems from your own inability to understand it as well as a bias to dismiss anything that doesn't comply with what you believe, which is normal for you, even though you are often wrong.
What is objective in adding up 1 + 1 and ignoring effect, its simplistic and wrong headed, what you said was embarrassingly stupid and no amount of bluster can make up for it.

well maybe Eve should go to the WoW model and have PVE only a pve only server. Then people can mine, do combat sites or auto pilot across the galaxy while they watch netflix without having to worry about dying. Having 30 people in a system with no one interacting with each other is a boring as it gets. At that point why make it a multiplayer game?

Because you were anti-social you presume others are too. Think it through, many of these people are chatting away like mad on comms or in chat channels, its not their fault you are not doing the same.

I have always wondered what players like myself who spend most of our time exploring Wormholes (and sometimes make forays into null-space) but still base out of High-Sec are counted as when it comes to those numbers ? The reason is that I have a very hard time believing that 80 % of the players are 'purely high-sec' and never ever leave that area.

So basically you've just listened to their propaganda and have no clue about the real meta, since the gankers do their best to obfuscate it and paint themselves as super hard working victims constantly. Being able to infinitely keep a ship from warping with a single ship, without the victim being able to do ANYTHING about it, is unbalanced as all hell and it's long overdue for a fix. You now have three minutes to do your thing and if you can't do it in that time you're sh*t outa luck. And that's a perfectly fine balance.

I am new, but after I bought my mining permit I did make a pilot to "walk a mile in their shoes" and went out with code on 5 freighter ganks and a few miner ganks. I also have a pilot that does faction warfare. I have to say ganking took a lot more effort and coordination then anything else I have done in the game so far. But I don't like the tears and the hate directed at me. Most of the time I mine and on the weekends I go out in frig gangs and Plex. But if I wouldn't have been upset with the bumpers I would not have went to low sec and probably quit the game. I consider my self a miner because I do that most and have biomassed the ganker I made. But I do see the need for mercs, ganker and griefers in Eve. Maybe after longer in the game I might see it differently, who knows. That's the great thing about different experiences, they cause you to grow.

Biomassing a gank char with a poor security status as a means of disposing of the consequences of your actions with said char is a bannable offense.
Did they happen to mention that at minerbumping?

To answer the question in the subject line.
Carebears in Eve are much like themselves in rl, they needs rules and routines to keep an even keel. They see Eve as a place to socialize(like a bar), and need the basic rules of that type of social setting to feel comfortable. Their voice is extremely loud, the complaint threads run rampant, and I'll be willing to bet that many petitions have been submitted to keep that basic set of social rules intact.
Which leads us to the answer, the squeakiest wheel gets the grease. If gankers had the the numbers that the bears had, they could do the same thing. The problem is that type of player(ganker, PvP'r, agent, scammer, opportunists, etc.) Are so used to adapting to the endless nerfs that they just find a way to get what they want. The unfortunate part of that is, it usually leads to more nerfs.
All of that, attached to the fact that whenever a ganker complains, it's written off as a troll(or some other way of down playing their complaint).
The real point here is OP, that high-sec content is very dynamic(like the players that create it), and "castrated" or not....where there's a will there's a way. |

I wasn't just talking about the bumping changes but all the changes i have seen since November that hurt mercs, griefers & gankers. You can't have good without bad. Allright OP, besides the recent bumping nerf and the watchlist changes what else has been implemented since November that you deemed "castration" of the ganking and merc playstyles? FYI since you're only 5 months old you might not be aware that actual griefing is not an allowed playstyle.

One of the things I found out right away was about 1/2 the players in space were not engaged in the game. There would be an ice belt with 30 people in it, but no one was really there. The more I watched them blow up people the more I realized they are forcing people to stay engaged in the game. At the same time I watched CCP make changes to hamper the high sec content creators and cater people to people that are not actively engaged while undocked. How does that help a healthy community?
so my question is why does it seem like CCP wants to stop or make close to impossible all non PVE highsec content when players have tons of in game tools avoid dying like d-scan, local chat, kills in system on map, etc...?
I'm guessing you need to "create content" in highsec because you're allied with everyone powerful in your lowsec pirate region. How close am I to the truth? 99 or 100%?

CCP Phantom wrote:Ship bumping - at maximum for 3 minutes A small, but important change is coming. A ship will get into warp no later than 3 minutes after the warp was initiated, regardless of any bumping, as long as the warp engines arenGÇÖt disabled (warp scrambled, bubble etc.).
Reading this, that is NOT castrating high-sec content creators. The ironic part about this is that this change will actually create new content. Just create an alt or hire someone to act as a suicide point for the person doing the bumping as someone here already suggested. And by the way, your point seems to be about the gankers trying to get idle players to stay engaged and play the game instead of just being AFK all day. But the change in question is more to do with permabumping a hauler that is going from gate to gate, who are likely to be more active players compared to the miners, and the hauler not having any recourse against that because the victim fighting back would get Concordokken while the bumpers remain unpunished. Without this change, the mechanic of permabumping become unfair.
As for the miners being bumped compared to haulers, miners only get bumped far out from the belt with high-mass, high-speed ships and then left alone to see if the idle player ever gets back while his mining barge sits idle at 250km from the belt. And if it's one of those CODE guys, then they will likely call in the big guns to suicide gank the miner. So far, I have yet to see a single change preventing ganks.
Pardon me if I'm already repeating something here as it's late for me here and I'm not in the mood to read through the entire thread. |
