Hello all, Just something I was thinking about this morning, the future of citadels and NPC stations. The following is assuming that all citadel expansions have been released and are working as intended with the ability to perform all the tasks that an NPC station can perform.
Now that citadels have come around, they will be immediately be replacing POS structures fairly easily, however replacing NPC stations in the future years is another matter entirely.
Here is what I'm proposing, once the above conditions are met, then we once again make NPC stations destructible with the exception of one stations per faction (Item transfer would work like citadels when a station is destroyed, all items are transferred to the nearest NPC station). Naturally the best stations to leave as invulnerable would be the 4 main trade hubs, Jita, Amarr, Dodixie, and Rens, that way markets dont crash across the game.
For the actual destruction of the stations, they would have a massive amount of hitpoints and like with interbus, CONCORD and the faction navies would ignore attacks on stations, the station NPC owners would have to fight back with their station guns and NPC fleets, making destruction of the stations difficult.
Any thoughts? Good idea? Terrible idea?

Could be intersting.
I'd consider it a possibility, but only if NPC stations are exceedingly difficult to destroy.
The defenses should be formidable. We're talking huge fleets to destroy. And all involved in the attack get criminal flags and major hits to security rating.

Good thinking but.... Most corporations are part of the factions and empires, therefore i don't see why they would 'ignore' aggression on their property |

Hmmmm...... *starts civil war* But yeah, that would.be a problem unless there was a falling out between the npc corps and their governments

NPC Stations are never going to go away. There may be a thinning out of them in highsec, but they fill an important role in EVE and are needed for the health of the game. |

If all npc stations disapeared. Then the game could teoreticaly destroy itself. Because we could be left with nowhere to manufacture things. Meaning that we cant build new structures. Meaning that in the end we could be left in sapce with nowhere to build anything and slowly lose everything as we can't rebuild what we destroy. This would be bad. I do agree that once all new structures are out that they should remove many of the npc stations. But not all of them. |
