o7, Long story short, lost my probes due to DC while in a WH, then they disappeared after DT. Being a ****** I did not have spare ones with me. I heard this might be something the devs could help with and give me the probes (back) so that I can get back home.
The only other option would be Local, which is pretty much dead or a self-destruct. This was my first bigger run in Helios and I would really not want to throw away all the nice loot.
The question is: How long does it take for a ticket to be dealt with? Should I just wait and kill time or explode and don-¿t expect GMs to help anytime soon? It's been 6 hours now and the not-knowing is killing me.

You have a cloak, anyone else in your hole? Try barter for probes, at this point you may aswell see if the locals (if any) will buzz with you, you're new , someone might help.

Waiting does not sound like much fun. I'm not sure how long it would take you to make the isk back that you would loose if you pod your way home but I just don't think waiting in a game makes good sense.
Every time that you jump into a wormhole if you just consider your stuff lost the second that you jump in and if you come back with the same ship then that is just a bonus. |

I understand your dilemma too. Had it happen to me. Thought I had bookmarked the entrance but in hindsight I think I closed the window instead of committing the bookmark. I got my ship blown up by sleepers... no way home. So yes, I empathize entirely.
I had another player help me out after he tried to off me. He took pity on me and let me go, even showed me the way out.
My next option was to point my capsule in some random direction and let it run for an hour or two then log off and/or ask a corp mate to come bail me out. The last option was self destruct like you were contemplating.
I'd like to see the lost in the wormhole thread too.

I take this more as an experience of how the CCP support works, with every passing hour I am more and more ready to blow the ship - 40M, loot - 70M and some 20M in implants. But you know how this works, it was going well, the WHs (2) were practically empty - shipwise, so I got those 70M est. loot in less than 2h. I make rigs, so the salvage parts mean even more profit for me.

Yeah, Im cloaked in a safe spot so I can wait, plus now I mostly log off of course. I was spamming local every now and then, but even if there was someone else scanning, no response what so ever and I cannot blame them. |

Drop me an EveMail with the hole number you're in and if I come across it on my travels I'll gladly come by with spares for you and directions out if you're still stuck if you get no response by then. No guarantees of finding it though I admit!

How about this: If anyone comes across J114506 and I haven't posted that it's sorted here, it would be grand of you if you could jettison 8 core scanner probes by some of the POCOs or by the Sun and write me an email. If you do, you have my grattitude and 10M ISKies
Thank you all! |

you can try getting on eve-scout. They have tripwire and they might have already logged a link to that wh.

Typically speaking support tickets get processed really fast in eve. I have played many other MMOs and found that the time it takes for tickets to get answered has always been longer than any ticket I have made in eve.
I am sorry to hear that you have become lost in spooky wh space. There are stories of people trying to find each other and get their buddies home, maybe you can try contracting somebody?

In thinking about this 'problem', maybe I have a solution?
Is it possible to stuff the ship someplace, bookmark it, eject, self destruct your POD and then get a new ship (with probes and launcher and MD) to track the wormhole down, find the abandoned ship and reconnect to it and fly it out, leaving the 'new crappy' ship behind?
I realize it's possible to scan the abandoned ship down, but if it's off in some never-never land corner of the WH, it would be pretty hard to find if you weren't looking for it.
I also realize that re-finding the WH would be hard, but at least you have a greater than ZERO chance of the ship back... not much greater, but still greater than...

Pandora, that was what I was considering. To stick to searching C3 wormholes (around 300-400?) and eventually, in a few weeks or months to find it :-)
The minute a fellow explorer was willing to help me, CCP put the probes back in my cargo! So all good now, jumped out near Jita for instant profit!
Thank you all for advice and condolences
Also, worth mentioning was the eve-scout corp, that was trying to track the J114506 down, great guys!

Interesting learning experience, huh, OP? I now carry more probes with me like a comfort blanket. Sometimes even in hisec. Trauma residue :)

Don't know how much truth there is to this to be fair. I've had my fair share of dealings with the support ticket system in the past concerning eve-online, and the response time has never been good.
Currently I'm waiting on a response from them to a ticket I left on monday (5 days ago) on an issue concerning a character transfer, which should be top priority on their list, as there is a 10 hour wait so you could contact support if something goes wrong, which it did; lo and behold, still no response and my character is still stuck on an account it doesn't belong to, not being trained, and with nearly all my monetary assets on the toon, the funniest part is; I just came back to the game after a 3mo break, and subbed with my credit card, and now as a thank you for the money I paid to resub, I get to NOT play my characters and NOT train them for 5 days and counting... Well played CCP, well played... |
