I tried in on my 4gb USB2 pen drive and it worked fine. I didn't try any PvP, just some ratting, but it was nice and stable. __________________________________

Yes. Just turn off the pictures etc for faces, or it'll bloat slowly.
You can also just copy the EVE install folder from your computer over to the stick. Atleast it used to work fine running it straight from one.

It should work with no problems, just copy the directory across. Delete the "cache" folder though. That's the thing that contains all the images and rubbish that you don't need (faces, logs of chats etc). ACtually delete the cache folder from your PC as well since eve will make a new one that's blank, and should speed up your gameplay. Note: it will revert your settings (resolution, overview states etc) to default so you might want to make a backup. Just so you know, transfer rates from a USB device aren't any faster than an internal hard drive, and in some cases, they're actually slower. The only advantage they have is that they have no seek time.
In any case, don't expect a huge jump in performance, simply from putting the game on a USB drive.

Its not advisable. Flash drives have a limited number of read/writes before the individual bits wear out.

He probably wants to stick it on a USB drive so he can bring it with him and play on other PCs

you can install TS onto the flash drive but you'll need to do it every time you run it on another machine because it puts some DLL files into the windows directory i think. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes - Devil ([email protected]) |

i poped in the good helping tech guy.
2gb stick will run eve, but i tell you now that my eve folder has reached sizes of 4 gigs. that cache folder can get huge easy.
has someone said above, yes it will not IMPROVE your overall eve gameplay. what it will do is great improve your load times. by the simple fact that the seek times on a hard drive will be nearly not there. there is also that small buff stop from the drives too the IDE control that the USB gets too skip. ( we are talking about something small that 0.3MS would be overstating it)
so loading the Rat mission areas. or large gate camps will come up faster.
now has for teamspeak. window 2000 windows XP and vista, will have the Codecs that Teamspeak needs too run. ( less you just running a odd ball codec on your server) so putting the install of TS on the datastick will load TS just fine. too add on that also the TS.exe would look in it's installed folder for any missing DLL it did not find in windows ( if it don't do that too start)
there ya go. what ya needed.

Do if i keep my cache down. EVE will run just the same as on a normal hd but loading times will be faster?
