o7 everyone! Just dropping some brainstormed and considered ideas.
1. Mining Drones- mining drones get little credit from just about everyone to the most appreciative miner. I would say a buff is in place when a hulk with two T1 mining drone rigs, max skills, and a full flight of T2 mining drones only yields a mere 321m3 of ore. Only a slight buff in terms of yield would be required if they acted like sentry drones(fired their lasers while stationary and cannot move). They don't even need to orbit the asteroid like normal drones need to orbit an enemy and it would significantly increase yield if they didn't have the travel time. It's even fine that they have short range as all one has to do is move closer to the asteroid. Removing them from the game is also an option as from I've heard they're just relics from the past.
2.Loaner Contracts- I quite often find myself asking my fellow corp members (Go EvE Uni!) for a couple hundred million from time to time (and always pay it back ASAP!) because I'm close to a new ship or plex or whatever and it would be nice to keep track of said loans and what I've paid out. Formal loan contracts would be really cool! They could have interest rates the contract issuer would set and what time intervals would be applied (weekly, biweekly, monthly etc.) and the person receiving the contract would have to agree to the terms as normal. As consequence for not paying back, the issuer could set another time interval where the players security status would decrease by 1 or whatever and eventually earn a kill right for that player.
Thanks for your time and especially you CCP for the great game and awesome new glasses! |

1a. Also meh. As long as their yield isn't increased, I have no issue with this.
2a. This was once part of the game. It was removed due to poor usage and what usage it did see was usually a scam of some kind.

The glasses only accentuate what is already there

OP: Interesting ideas, but the idea of loaner contracts actually used to be in game - in a way. Freeform contracts allowed some of what you proposed, but had zero enforcement mechanisms and were a scammer's dream tool.

Why not for the mining drones, a sentry T1/T2 kind which has the same yield when a flight of 2 are fielded as opposed to the 5 small mining drones (same size and bandwith than combat sentries), they would need a little more in skills and be more expensive but their advantage/difference is that they dont penalize someone mining big roids like spodumain, and that they can be recalled way faster in case of danger.
About loaner contracts I dunno, but I guess more types of contracts couldn't cause problems.

I like your 2nd proposal. A formal system for loaning out ISK could be quite useful and would spawn a cottage industry of 'bankers'.

Banks and EVE have a long and unhappy history. The game simply does not possess the necessary mechanics for making a bank functional beyond the old 'give me money and I PROMISE I'll pay you interest and let you have access back to it when you need'. I believe - though I may be proven wrong in time, of course - that re-introducing an updated version of the freeform contracts will only really lead to more elaborate scams, as they presumably won't specifically be targeted towards banking.

1: they already plan on giving mining drones some love this summer just no word as to what that is yet.
2. Loans were always a scam. |

The nuts and bolts of loaning isk are already in the game - I think it would be easy to set up a system mostly using courier contract mechanics. Put up collateral in exchange for isk and have X amount of time to pay back the principal plus interest to get the collateral back, otherwise the lender gets the collateral.
I don't really know what the point of that would be, though, as outside of a few niche cases it's just as easy to sell the collateral and buy identical items back if the enterprise is successful. |
