o/ Everyone :D
Old player (largely inactive) here, was considering doing something other than passively training. So quick question:
1) Is the citadel expansion considered a successful release? Did it make the game significantly more fun than a year ago?
2) Has there been anything interesting to make it worth coming back?
3) What has the population been like, is it finally increasing at all (or god forbid decreasing further)? |

As with all releases, CCP informed the Community that Citadel had been successfully deployed.
So......success \o/ (Let's not talk bugs)
Related to interesting, there is a war going on. Early battles won by the Allies, but the dark forces are starting to fight back. War is good for everyone and always worth resubbing for, even if you aren't directly involved. Lots of indirect ways to benefit too.

I exhaled my beverage when I discovered the PH Fortizar is on-grid with the O1Y station.
I could watch the flak cannons doing their thing, all day.
So far the release seems like a success. I'm really looking forward to the fall and winter industry structures. |

Carrier changes are great. Citadels are a disappointment to all small corps who were hoping to use them to replace POSes but found out that are hopelessly useless against a small fleet of subcaps ( and CCP blatannntly ignoring all the forum posts and petitions on the matter adds more to that disappointment ). |

If you ever dreamed about having a base or a carrier with literally squadrons composed of many fighters that can fight undocking from it, if you dont mind some micromanagement while using them, citadels are your expansion.

EVE Is only as fun as you make it. But yes, the game is dank... Far from dying (which btw people have been saying for years, total bull) |

Still, no matter what we say the numbers are declining - but CCP being the masters of trailers and advertisement that they are we shouldn't have to worry too much about it (The citadel trailer tho, what the **** were they thinking O_O... Usually i'm like "OMG OMG OMG!" and with this one I was barely in a state of "meh" while this is the best expansion in ages - I can now rat in an OP carrier making just a lil' over 50m a tick AND help my corpmates build a large citadel in which I'll happily pew pew reds camping the station from)
If we have to talk about war: "Everyone" is ganging up on goons, people smack talking about goons being about to disappear, goons not giving a **** and surviving, goons getting slowly but surely back on their feet in less space. Even tho GSF is my ennemy I never once thought that they were in real danger, and I'm starting to be proven right...
Profit: - Capital-sized rats that drop from 0.5M to 500-ish mills of loot (one well-tanked DPS-oriented carrier can take them on - nidd / Than, otherwise you'll need help and they do WRECK battleships) - New citadel BPOs to profit from, mates made a few bills from them. - New capital modules BPOs to profit from, made a few bills from them, now it's starting to crash. - New Fighter BPOs to profit from, made a few bills from them, now it's severely crashing (market saturation). - New T2 fighters to profit from, made a PAINFULLY SLOW few hundred mills from them, on paper it still works tho, in reality "meh" - cap pilots usually have enough SP to convert T1 into T2 without wasting hundreds of mills - PI ressources spiking because necessary to build citadels - Heavier taxes, R.I.P reprocessing trader alt (may he find peace in his JF pilot reconversion).
Yup good update :). GRRRRTaxes tho.. |

Negatives I was severely disappointed that Medium Citadels had the market ability removed, and have asked for some limited market functionality, who knows maybe they will listen. Bugs, uncompleted bits and some instability If you are a war deccer who hunted prey then you will find the removal of the free intel from the watch list annoying
Positives Citadels are awesome to use and go into The carriers are now fantastic fun with this excellent fighter implementation, well worth trying out, but make sure you get the new modules first. The tears from entitled small gangs is epic on their inability to kill carriers which says more about their complacency then carriers being OP. The new weapons and stuff for capitals, damn good fun Removal of that silly watch list free intel, makes people have to work for kills and most just hang around trade hubs and pipes
Going forward, the new structures are going to change things hugely and I expect that the intel structures will give back some watch list capability, I hope for a constellation or regiion only depending on type, but lets see how that pans out.
I am hoping that the new research and indy structures can be taken down within 24 hours if expensive and very cheap if not, same for the mining ones. Also taht they be graded upwards in terms of capability so taht real hisec corps might actually come out of this rather than one man corps and NPC junkies, not taht I blame them because currently there is no point...
I am wondering just how the capital ship changes will impact the game going foward
I think that in all this expansion was a great success and even though some of my friends decided not to come back over the medium citadel missing out key functionality, some did because they love the carriers new approach so much...
Ella's Snack bar. The Hisec sandbox is basically no longer a themepark for gankers now that CCP have rebalanced key areas. Well done CCP

Just wanted to say I am really digging the login music and art. This is the first time in a while I've just stayed on the login screen to listen.
I am in the Imperium with my main and so I am having a blast of course, don't know that citadel has anything to do with it but it is good to see the game get a fresh coat of paint and newbie support. I like the new minigames like SOE PD and the extra XP ratting stuff. I don't use them but I won't begrudge other players more single player fun. |

Very Poor
Citadels expansion has caused many issues and have screwed up a lot of mechanics.
1. ESS now deployable right on top of a Citadel making them invulnerable except to very large gang 2. Citadels 1,000km off most Nullsec gates now with drag bubbles that catch everything. 3. Carriers with instalock and insta alpha on most sub caps while being very safe sat on top of citadel 4. Very few citadels dying as its not worth the effort thus space will be overwhelmed with them soon, especially HS 5. Grid expansion causing issues with drag bubble distances.
This list goes on. Why CCP released an update in this state is a very poor indictment of there quality control systems. |

If you agrees then you lose tethering. If you fly in low or null with no scout you deserve to die. A carrier that's 1km out and.dumps his fighters that far out is extremely.vulnerable.
So stop sucking and complaining how your t1 cruiser died to a carrier in every thread.
Been around since the beginning.

I thought that THERE had been quite a few people that have lost THEIR Citadels now? I saw a killboard summary thing not long ago that showed quite a decent rate of destruction though, thinking about it, I think that might have been the CCP Machine report. Either way, a lot of people will be still nutting out the tactics etc for it.
I wasn't around for the previous expansions, but this one has been great fun. Will be keen to see how much of the market trading will be shifting to Citadels as well when things start to settle down.

Not saying its perfect right now but overall I am enjoying the game more now than probably ever before. (Probably)
Oh and by the way any small gang worth their salt is already adapting tactics to engage carriers. No idea where the dust will settle on this one but the calls of "waaa OP" are certainly premature.
