How do you scam with direct trades? The age-old "try to change the item real quick" trick? Or better, how do you ensure you don't get scammed in direct trades? I'm curious because I have some *ahem* less-than-legal items to trade and as far as I can tell the only way I can trade them is via direct trade. I am no scammer, and want to be able to trade these items without too much risk for myself or the person I am trading with. Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

yeah you can trade them fast, or just put a normal ship instead of a faction ship hoping they don't notice. It used to be done before the contracts system, but contracts made it a lot easier (private auctions, freeform), but it happens occationally. I could be wrong. Maybe this 2 day old character just happened to do enough missions to get one, eh? :)
It's either an ebay character or a scam with an alt.
You can protect yourself easily against trade scams - just show info on it.

I don't think this is reasonable evidence that he's a scammer. Basically, youu accused him of scamming because he wanted to do a secure trade instead of a contract, you should have waited until the actual trade. He might have been an alt of an older character after all.

CCP keeps making this game too easy to abuse. More and more scammers and abuse is happening each day.
I am getting sick of all the Romeos and Privateers and all The Terrorists and the Freeform scams.

Majin. Deal. Scams are a part of life, thus they are a part of Eve. If you are duped into a scam, brush it off, smile, and say "Damn, he got me good." Unlike life, Eve's a game, and losing to a scam means diddly.
Besides, if someone succeeds with a scam, that means they fooled someone else, thus, they won it fair and square.
And lastly, Terrorist isn't a scammer. I have firsthand experience to know that. ---------

You can only be scammed if you allow yourself to be scammed. That said do we need more scam threads?
Metagaming is a broad term usually used to define any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, |

Not really, if the OP wants to talk about a scam that's fine, but a block of text really isn't constructive.
