So I was cruising around in my nanophoon, itching to kill something as I had not busted the combat cherry on it yet. I ended up in a favorite 0.4 system and saw a Harpy on scan. Overkill I know, but I narrowed him down and warped in. I landed 20km away from him and locked. He was quickly locked down and I let leash my drones and torpedos.
A few seconds later, my victim said in local
"Bugger"
And then ejected from his ship (which still had 75% shields) and warped off in his pod.
Now, I am looking at a perfectly good harpy that I cannot pilot. So I ask in corp chat if anyone wants a free harpy. A corpmate says he can, but is 10 jumps away and has to dock, buy a shuttle and head to my location. It is about 10 minutes to DT. After waiting for a few minutes, I decide to pop it as my corpmate is not going to make the last 6 jumps in time.
The kill mail shows that the Harpy was T2 fitted.

Fair enough.
I just figured I would get in on the FOTM action before it was nerfed. Everything else I fly gets nerfed before I get to use it.

While misbehaving myself in low sec in between jumpclones, I and a buddy tackled an astarte in a belt (him in a drake, I in a nano-free dominix). For a laugh we decided to try and get him to eject, as we had a friend in system that could fly the astarte. So I convo'd the pilot, informed him I had a full rack of large smartbombs (total lie), and that if he ejected I wouldn't instapod him. And then the last thing I ever expected: he actually ejected.
Scrambled to recall drones to keep the now burning ship from popping, realized the belt rats were slowly taking structure down, and sent the drones after them. Well, what I failed to realize was that drones are retarded. I had not stopped scrambling and webbing the empty ship, and once the belt rats were clear, my drones reagressed the ship and popped it in one volley right as the friendly astarte pilot came out of warp in a shuttle

No need to abandon ship for that Even interceptors have a really hard time of catching pods if the pilot going down knows what he's doing. A nanoproon probably can't lock a pod in less than 10 seconds anyway.
Hint: Select a planet/belt in the overview and keep clicking warp when your ship is about to go down.

Very true. Frig and ceptor pilots need to be on the top of their game to catch a pod that's paying attention, and if he's actually putting effort into getting his pod out you'll never touch it. Cruisers and above locking a pod that's not afk is a rare feat.
I don't know why more people don't realize this fact and log off to save their pods. I've killed more logged off pods in recent days than logged in ones, pods I otherwise never would have cought (on a side note this is getting out of hand, I had a 16 day old character log to save his pod yesterday). Not that I mind really, it's extremely satisfying to squish a logoffski pod. recon probe launcher ftw <3

You'd have to be a ******* idiot to loose a pod to a battleship in lowsec, unless it has 4 sensor boosters which I'd hope a nanophoon wouldn't. In fact you have to be pretty crap to loose a pod at all unless you're in a bubble.

No, you don't; there is a very nice bug going around EVE that happens when you lose you're ship. CCP gave us wrecks for better interaction but they are interacting with pods, snagging them in place. I lost a pod like that to 2 cruisers. --------------------------------------------------

That sucks Setana. It happened to a Corp m8 of mine a few days ago. Pod was stuck/ensnared in his wreck and he couldn't warp the pod out and got podded.
Wonder if CCP realizes this is happening?

Ok well, I wasn't aware of that bug as I very rarely get blown up
Sounds kind of strange though, seeing as pods need no space to gain speed to go to warp (they accelerate/decelerate instantly), but I can imagine it happening. I still stand by my view that you're an idiot if a BS pods you if you're not in a bubble, I'll just have to add 'or a victim of a bug' to that statement.

Yeah my pod got stuck on a wreck for half a second it tried to go into warp it went to half speed then went to full again and warped. Pretty annoying when you have full grade snakes.

Personally I eject as well when tackled by a nanophoon. Better get back to having fun instead of wasting my time waiting for the phoon to slowly poke me to death while I sit there helpless. Against other ships I can at least shoot back...

Actually it's possible to initiate self destruct then eject before it explodes. It takes a good 30 seconds though , odds are your ship won't tank that long.
