Now, there have been a lot of threads about nerfing titans and all that jazz, but then I got an idea. In RL, when another nation develops a new powerful weapon, you don't ask for it to be nerfed, you develop a counter weapon.
For lack of a better name, I'll call this idea the "Paladin" class. (No affiliation with WoW )
A Paladin will cost about as much as a titan and require the same construction method.
Paladins will have no offensive capabilities, their sole perpose is for logistics and defense.
Each race of titan will have a special module (similar to the doomsday weapons) which create an area of effect shield. Essentialy, this shield will behave like a POS shield in that nothing can target from within the shield, etc, etc.
In order to sustain the shield, you will have to have ships using a new module on the paladin. This would give the oppurtunity to add a new type of cruiser (yay!) and a new t2 version.
The cruisers will have to be outside the POS shield and should be very vulnerable to attack. Also, the new module will require Strontium Clathrates, so you have to have some form of logistics to keep the cruisers fed for long.
Now, what should Paladins look like? Well, imo, they should each be made one of the racial t2 producers because Paladins would require such advanced technology.

The shield modules should have an effective range similar to the bubble of a Large POS. This will allow the Paladin to protect a fleet from a Doomsday so the presence of a titan doesn't prevent any fighting from happening.
It also can provide a mobile base to operate from when trying to attack a system with no empty moons.

I like this idea. Signed.
Only thing id suggest would be shrinkn the concept a lil. Make them more Mothership size rather than a Titan. That way more alliances would be able to field them, they`d be more practical and be used more if they werent uber Titan size.

This is a great idea, the only thing im wandering is would you be able to lock the Ship in the middle of the Shield like a Control Tower? (if you've answerd the question already sorry but im tired)
In my opinion they should be nowhere near as expensive as Titans or Motherships im thinking about a price tag of 10 Bill so they still take money to field them but its not only for the superpowers!
They should have enough Either Shield Hp or Armor Hp though if they can be targeted to tank a reasonable size fleet, like 80% resists on either Armor or Shield (obviously for the type of tank the race has) make them like you said, like a Titan just only give 2 high slot and that can only be used for the shield Generator and a Jump Portal Drive so you can Evac your fleets from the safety of the Bubble or even bring in reinforcements by allowing Cyno's in the Bubble
don't wanna burst your bubble but instead of a new Ship why not just add modules for the existing Logistic Class Criusers
im still not sure about this though just popped into my head, the things in the shield/bubble don't apear on the overview or Scans - - - - - -<Sig>- - - - - -
