Thank you for given us a view into how you think, but please don't extrapolate it unto other people though. I am not far more likely to downvote than upvote. As you don't back it up with evidence, it is hard to take serious.

You know, the main voting we do is with our wallet, by subscribing or cancelling our subscription.
And your opinion is irrelevant as it isn't mine and mine is the only one that count.
Yes, there is a lot of people that like what are lousy musicians for me, but if we use that metric we wouldn't have Rock as initially "people that know it better" disliked it. And probably we can go back in time and make that argument for anything.
So adapt, and if it is unacceptable vote with your wallet. That is the only vote that really matter. |

So far I have put 3 like, 1 dislike in reddit. So my empirical evidence is that we have a 3:1 majority of likes to dislikes. It is a scientific analysis

Because when it affects the majority, it is only fair that the majority decides what happens. Even if it is stupid. As far as I know you still have the right to be stupid. And let us be honest despite your huff and puff, you don't know more about what is good for EVE than everyone else. You might think you do, due to the human condition, but only implementing things and letting them run for some time and then evaluate the effect will tell you the real effect the change had. Not you guessing how a change will affect EVE, and then presenting it as the truth.
r/EVE is better IMO due to the downvoting of negative complain threads. And if I wanted negativity I know some RL people who love complaining about backpains and unemployment, who are stuck in a negativity spiral, like most posters on these forums. I an my spare time I don't want to read 1200 reply whine threads with only 20-100 participants exchanging the same arguments over and over. So i appreciate the the funny memes and light mood of r/eve over this pit of negativity on most days. Even if not everyone can bring through their opinion, as it is entertainment and not congress.

Unpopular views is not necessarily the same as "whine threads". Lets go back to my initial example: everyone gets 30 mil extra skill points and 10 free titans.
Given the average... person we can be pretty sure that if CCP would voice this idea on reddit that a vast majority would be ok with it because in their short term interest it's a good idea. What are the chances a post going "this is a dumb idea for so many reasons", explaining the issues, would get down voted to hell?
We can also be sure that there'd be more in favour of the idea on Reddit than on this forum, percentage wise. For all the reasons explained above. I'm not saying Rerddit is bad, I'm not saying this forum is good. I AM saying that "reddit is better because of down votes" too simplistic and in fact dangerous because unpopular views aren't necessarily bad views. I could add a Godwin but that would be too obvious. |

I don't agree. I think you can present unpopular ideas on r/EVE, if you formulate yourself normally and politely. Take these forums for example. people expect to be listened to after including angry personal attacks on the intelligence levels and professional expertise of CCP developers. that is not how it works. And I am happy these guys will get downvoted to oblivion on r/EVE.

I acknowledge that unpopular opinions are not bad opinions. I still think these ideas will most often only be downvoted if they are accompanied by rude text. This is however only my opinion.
I have a problem with your example as I think it is a hyperbole constructed in a way such your view will the only correct outcome. I don't agree with the assumptions, about how people of reddit would welcome this as we simple do not know and this is pure speculation. If this indeed was the case that everyone wants this I do not automitically agree upon the premise that it is bad for EVE, just because you think people tire of EVE more quickly. I think that aegis sov is a good examples of that you cannot predict the total outcome of a change.
I would agree with your last point if we were talking real life, I do think though that "Dangerous" is too strong a word for a video game forum. I think the advantage with reddit in regards to this forum is that constructive ideas are not burried in nonconstructive comments like here. I agree with your point that some voices would not be heard, but tbh. CCP are big boys. If they want to risk everything by only hearing the sweet talkers, it is their choice. I don't they to this though. I do see the strength in that it is easier to get to the constructive ideas on reddit imo. even if it is only a subset of the constructive ideas proposed. It is then CCPs obligation to pick something balanced from that.

If you go there now, and actually look through the featured threads, they are less negative than the posts on GD here. just saying.

Reddit currently outshines EVE-O imo if you want last-minute updates on what's going on in EVE (wars, events, interesting new features, bugs, unexpected downtimes, etc.).

It is, obviously. But lets be honest, it if would happen then what are the chances that it would get upvoted massively and any and all negative posts would end up on the bottom of the abyss?
That is my problem with the system. I'm not saying I know better, I AM saying that I'm probably less stupid than the average person and so are a bunch of us including you and a whole bunch of posters on Reddit. But if push comes to shove they/we will get outvoted by the vast majority of idiots that inhabit this planet. That makes it a terrible system.

Why are we even arguing over what community is better?
First, does it even matter? Second, both communities are equally ********.
You can find great posters on both mediums, but both forums are equally filled with whiners and ranters. On reddit, you do have the possibility to downvote these yourself, while on this forum you need to wait for a lock.
Some of you say, that the official forum contains the "better" quality posts, but honestly take a look at some of the threads posted across the boards. Can you still claim that the posting quality here is supreme?
TL:DR It all doesn't matter. You all suck at posting relevant stuff, except for a rare few. Use whatever forum you find comfortable. Eve is dying, the world is ending... This thread is pointless. |

They don't care about the personality of the game because they agree with CCP". Pretty petty really. They aren't changing the game directly but CCP do listen to feedback there. Many players posting on reddit are players who can't post here, either because they no longer sub to the game or they have been outright removed from the forum. That's a bad crowd to take feedback from even if there are a few people in there who are normals. It's also unbelievably biased. Imagine the outrage if CCP started posting more on and gaining feedback through on the somethingawful forums. It would be understandably bad because it's CCP directly interacting with a biased in-game group. Reddit is no different and that will remain the case all the time the subreddit isn't entirely CCP moderated.

So what you end up with is a single viwepoint from people at the bottom end of the maturity scale. Biased opinion and "dank memes" is pretty much all it's good for, so basically if you're older than 12 it's not much use.
